I don't know if it's just me but I think labour was so much better second time round. My first labour was about 11.5 hours of really intense contractions and, without any pain releif, by the time it came time to push I was exhausted and refused to do it. At one point, when my ds's head was half out, they threatened to cut me to get him out if I didn't push harder, which, from the pain, I thought they did, but luckilly it was just a scare tactic and I remained intact and didn't need any stiches. Second time round my labour lasted 9 hours and I again didn't have any pain releif but the intense contracts didn't start until about 3 hours before birth so I was much more ready to push and, even though she was over a pound bigger than her brother, my ds just seemed to slide out and I recovered much more quickly after the birth.

Congrats Rachel i think it is easier second time around as i think there is less fear, you know what to expect etc which in turn makes it easier so to speak mentally so your more prepared in that sense
