What can I do for the pain, besides cabbage leaves (which I have none of) and Herron Blue??
They were oranges yesterday, now they are small watermelons and it hurst so bad. I'm sure they are still increasing in size too.
I haven't BF since about 10am on Sunday (less than 36hrs after birth), so it's been a while.
I can't sleep because it hurts, it hurts to sit, stand walk etc.
Anyone got any miracle cures?
just try not to run hot water over them in the shower cos that will stimulate more milk. mine lasted like that for 2 days then eased off. if its too painful you could express a tiny bit just to relieve the pressure
Firstly Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!
Are you going to bottlefeed exclusively? If you are you shouldn't touch your boobs at all. No hot water running over them in the shower, no stimulation of any kids if that makes sense.
Have you tried an ice pack? You can buy Gel packs from the supermarket that are still flexible when they have been frozen. But i think you have to just struggle thru- i know it hurts. If it gets to a point where you cant handle it you might have to express a tiny bit out for some relief.

I'm trying to hold off having a shower for that reason, thinking of going down the sponge bath route (heck, why not, I did it heaps when our HWC kept dying, lol).
I don't want to touch them because it hurts, lol.
I was thinking of cutting up a cloth nappy, wetting and then freezing it and stuffing my bra with that....would that help? (Probably wouldn't fit, but I'll give it a go.)
Isn't it terrible though how the milk still comes in even though they aren't in use??

Thankyou! Yep, bottlefeeding exclusively. Will try an ice pack after I get these kids off to school. Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit first, I can't see it working that well if I have the heater going, lmao.
Pitty they still wont give needles or tablets if you dont plan on breastfeeding:no:

I was going to ask my GP for tablets, but DH wanted me to BF, so I didn't bother asking. I should have though, I knew I wasn't going to be able to keep up with the BF because of the pain.
The midwives at hospital were breastfeeding nazis so I didn't want to ask them because I knew I'd get lectured again.

Hey Babe again Congrats and what a beautiful pic you have in your avatar
Cabbage leaves in your bra work wonders
I just remembered with my first, when my milk came in, they had frozen baby singlets in the freezer to put around the breasts...

Frozen singlets?? Who would have thunk it??
lol rambox, thanks again. Have to go and get some more Herron Blue today, so will grab a cabbage while I'm out.
The frozen clothes and nappies are a great idea!!!! Wow- who would have thought of that! Give that one a go after the kids are at school and just walk around "with the girls" hanging out! LOL

DH would love that, lmao.
It's awful, can't put my arms by my side because they have grown under my armpits. :gloomy:

Oooooh, I feel your pain! I got engorgement (sp?) While in hospital as DD was in the nusery for 2 days as we were both ill so I couldn't feed her. The nurses were Nazi's also.
My chest felt so tight and heavy like i'd been winded. I just used ice packs and tried to express a tiny bit of milk out of them to ease it. And less and less each time so not to create more milk. Did this for about 2 days and all cleared up. Hope it gets better for ya

Just realised I have an entire box of breastpads here, so I'm going to wet some and toss them in the freezer. I should have done that last night.
1 of the breastfeeding nazis even told me I had to "work on losing that jelly belly" when Troy wasn't even 36hrs old.

Hey hun... first of all congratulations!!.....
I got told not to let anything touch them to stimulate milk supply.... Wear the tightest of tightest bras.
A good tip I got told... I think it was someone on here.... if you have disposable nappies.... fill them with water and freeze them. They are perfect shapes to put over your boobs to ad relief!!.... Then just lie on the couch and rest up with them on you.....
I feel your pain!!!... and when they get to under your arms!! oh my goodness!! I hope it all eases up for you and quickly!!
Goodluck hun!! :hugs:

Do not take your bra off!!! lol. And you can have a shower but just stand with your back in it and don't let the water any where near the front of you.
Mine got way worse before they got better but it should only last a couple more days and then you'll notice them going down.
Its horrible walking around with watermelons thats for sure.:hugs: :hugs:
