How, Gwyneth?

I think Pear is a cuter fruit, wouldn't think anything of it - like months (june, may, april) or days (wednesday  )

Meh, I dunno.:(

If you like a name then go with it because everyone is going to have a different opinion and you will never decide on one.

Me and My DH kept our names secret until DD arrived in case of being swayed away from something we did like.

Your choice :)

Everyone different i have a friend who use herbs names for her children. She has Thyme (G) parsley (G) Rocket (B). I like different names to, But make sure you feel it's right becuase you can't really change her name once she been called it for years. Another point is the mother of the herbs she has changed her own name 3 times it get's really confuing at times..........So that would be another thought, will your daughter be happy with it?

BEst Wishes for a tough descision.

Forgot to Say Grace is a very pretty name!

And you're going to get sick of hearing "Oh my god, Apple, like Gwyneth Paltrow's baby?"

Although, having said that, I do kinda like it. It's one of those names that, the more you say it, the nicer it sounds!! I heard of a family here in Adelaide who called their little girl "Ocean" and at first glance, it looks silly, but say it a few times, and it sounds kinda nice!

I always liked the name "Patience" for a little girl. Also "Silence" LOL but I think that would give her psychological trauma.....!! Also "Freedom", "Rainbow", "Moonlight", "Nightskye"....... yes i'm just a big ole hippy at heart!!!!!

I personally dont like it, but if you do, then use it:)

When I hear it, I think of Gwenyth and how much everyone made fun of the name then.

Maybe if it was a few years later???

When I used to work with international students, they would take an Australian name and i saw lots of fruits. Apple, Prune, Cherries....

As funny as they look on paper, it's amazing how once something is somebody's name, it's just their name and you think nothing of it!

MJ's middle name was almost Rainbow. It was a last minute decision to leave it off. I regret it now, but it can always be her nickname :)

I agree too that once you hear a name it just grows on you. Apparently DD's name is strange, we always get comments on it. Just makes it easier to get their attention when you call out to them in a group of people. There wont be 5 kids turn around when you call out "Apple"

Its probably not something i would have picked. but i guess now that gweneth paltrow used it, it has triggered alot of other people to 'notice' the name.
And i agree, it will grow on people :)

Anyways its your bub.. you have the final say.
lastly just wanted to say that you name is sooo nice. it was one of the names i had picked for my lil girl. so maybe my next one! :p

I think that if you like the name and you feel it suits your bub, then definately use Apple. I dont dislike it, but I dont love it either, but thats just my opinion.

I do like different names though. Have you thought of names like Daisy and Poppy? I like the 'herbs' theme that one of the other posters mentioned. Very cool.

In the end its your choice, Im sure whatever name you choose, it will be lovely and suit your bub to a tee!

Good luck!

I really wanted to call my third daughter Summer Storm, Summer because i love the name, and Storm because my dad was going to call me that, until my mother protested LOL.

And the funny thing was, when she was born we were having a summer storm. LOL

Apparently Mara-Jade is strange, we always get comments on it.

Someone's a Star Wars fan! I think Apple's had too much publicity (and I have two Apple computers so you'll get that too).....can't really think of any fruity names.....peach?

Yeah I don't mind it at all. I know what it's like to like a different name and everyone else be unsure. I have decided to call my daughter Poppy.

I think if you love it and that is what you want then nothing else matters.

LOL...Yeah, they will be just turning around looking at her wondering, "why is that lady calling out for an apple..." Or someone will come up to her with a banana and say," I havn't got an apple but here is a banana". :D
I'm sorry. these silly thought just pop into my head sometimes.

I don't think its a good name for a child myself. The poor kid will get payed out immensley I think. .
But hey, it is your call.
Good luck witht he decision.

Why is it that they pick Aussie names.

When we go to say Japan why do we not pick a Japanese name

Personally, I'm not a fan. I get hung up trying to think of nicknames kids could tease about and I'm afraid "Apple" is just too easy!!! :o

Is this your first child? If so, are you planning on carrying on a theme for future children? Otherwise an "Apple" and a more traditional name may feel a little strange together?!?!?

But, like others have said, ultimately it's your choice - you do what makes you happy! Good Luck!! :D

If you really love the name and have prepared a good comeback to all the "Gwyneth" comments, then you should definitely use it.

I would recommend keeping it a secret until the birth, as people will be less likely to say anything negative after the deed is done!

Good Luck with your decision. :)

I heard on the radio, that apparently in England there are like 60 people named Apple and that was pre Gwyneth naming her daughter.

Yeah, my parents have some friends who named their kid Apple, must have been at least 30 years ago. I rather like it, but I guess I'm used to it, and don't associate it with Gwyneth Paltrow.

I named my puppy Apple about four months before Gwyneth had her baby, so you can imagine how furious I was when she "copied" me :D

But my puppy's name is actually Appelonia, its on her papers and everything. So Apple is just the shortened version. I always liked the name Appelonia.

Im not a big fan of it, but its kinda fresh and pretty, i just keep thinking though 'but its apple'
although my dsd is Saphron (yes same as the spice, only spelt differently) and it has gained popularity the last few yrs, and doesnt seem odd at all to people now. i guess if it becomes more popular, it wont seem so weird.

I didn't like it much when I first looked at this thread, but I must admit, Apple Grace is very cute and a refreshing name!
I had names that I liked while pregnant, but once the baby was born I looked back on them like WHAT THE?! My biggest one was Amity - it was on my list for ages with Nicola, then "SHE" appeared on "The Block" and ruined it for life!

They probably pick 'Aussie' names so that dumb Aussies can pronounce them.

I actually don't mind the name Apple, it sounds cute. But I probably wouldn't pick it because of the Gwyneth Paltrow connection, and all the fun that was made of her when she named her daughter Apple.

Sorry I really don't like Apple.
When I think about a name I usually try and think ahead to how my baby will be treated in the professional world. If we had a girl last time we really liked the name Charlie, though her full name would have been Charlotte.
Like we called PJ, Patrick. A name that we like, but they won't be made to look silly or be teased at school or when they are working.
