Hi all,
My husband & I are due in the first week of Nov with our first. Not sure of the exact date. Its all very exciting though, have told immediate family - but not anyone else as yet. I have to say it is really hard to bite your tongue when you are talking with other family and friends. Looking forward to the next 8 months with much anticipation.
Anyone from South-East Vic?

hi all.
we are expecting our first baby on november 14th. Apparently i am 6 weeks now? does this seem right to everybody? is this date taken from the first day of your last period?
haven't been to the doc yet as he is away but going for first scan in 3 weeks as we have a history of twins in the family and I AM A TWIN... pretty scary... we hope for only one!
have only told family and two of my very very best friends. I hope all goes well and we will tell everybody at about 12 - 14 weeks.
I have had no morning sickness yet... when should this start?
so many questions...!!!
hey :)
I have the same dues date kimnjim! I will be six weeks pregnant tomorrow - hoping that all goes well.
I am very very excited about the first scan- I got pregnant very fast too (quite scary how fertile we were!!!) we thought it would take at least 6 months (doctors told us so too!!!!!!)

Hi all,
That sounds right. I am due on the 8th and I am 7 weeks this Tuesday. I have been to the doctor and had some blood tests done and I have booked in for a scan on the 22nd April. I also got to have another test done then as well.
Morning sickness doesn't usually hit until 6-8 weeks, sometimes if you are lucky enough you might not even get morning sickness.

 Hey all ...
Had a scary day yesterday- 6 weeks preg.- had abdoninal pains at work- kinda like really mini cramps? . I have confided in my immediate workmates that I am pregnant, and they insisted I lie down with a pillow in the corner (not easy when you are supposed to be teaching!!) all seems well now (fingers still tightly crossed)- maybe just my body telling me to slow down???
:( It completely stressed me out (I find it frustrating that I cant see what is happening :) ) - has anyone else had feelings like this?
hope all is well with you all

Hi there
Who knows whatever goes on in there!
If it is any consolation I sometimes get these. I am on preggie 2 (nearly 9 weeks) and I have definately had several cramps this time around. I think I remember them with bubbie number one too.
Are you a small framed person? - Just that I have a theory that you can 'feel' more if you are.
(Please I mean no offence to anyone - nor that bigger mums don't feel their bubs)
When I get these cramps it is often related to bowel 'stuff' So I make sure that my 'movements' are doing OK - Kiwi Juice is good if you can get it.
Hope this helps and best of luck

Hi,
We're expecting our first around the 10th of November (I'm visiting my doctor next week, so hope to confirm then). Veve - I'm like you, it's agony keeping the secret! I've told one friend only, but am visiting a friend interstate this weekend - her boy is 2 months - and the opportunity to ask her heaps of questions is too good to pass up.
e
hey all
well Jessie I personally wouldn't consider myself to be a small framed person :) I'm a pretty average size and shape- to feelings (crampy things) have settled- I half wonder if it was a little stress related too (last week of school- need holiday?) Thanks though for your help- made me feel more 'normal' :)
Congratulations emmalouise!!! how exciting and bizarre is it to be so early in pregnancy- I kinda want the scans and the big tummy NOW!!! (I'm sure I'll be sick of it by november though!!)
One week to go till I meet the OB.... very exciting!
Hope you are all well :)

Hi All,
I'm due 9th November with my first. I've just passed the 8th week and still feeling sick, not just morning time but all day! Why don't they call it 'all day sickness' rather than just morning sickness! Anyway, i'm very excited, yet a little scared with this new upcoming arrival. I'll be turning 41 in May, and this baby was not planned as I thought I would not be able to have any, but bingo! Shocked but very excited, I want to tell the world but am very hesitant. Anyone else out there that has the same feelings?
It's soo good to tell you guys about it, thanks
Bodie

Hi Crissy,
I'm now 35 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I started getting nausea at 7 weeks and it was the all day type. I was constantly sick and I tried everything eventually it got so bad I ended up in hospital and on a drip and IV medication. I was told I was suffering from Hyperemesis gravidarum. I was in and out of hospital and medicated until 16 weeks, when it stopped. I'm not trying to scare you but if you are feeling really sick and unable to cope with it please talk to your doctor it can be helped!!! You don't have to suffer through it. :o

Hi everyone,
Congratulations to all the newcomers. I am feeling sick on and off during the day. I find if I haven't eaten for a while that's when I feel really sick, so I try and snack on healthy foods throughout the day.
Bodie I am sorry to hear that your morning sickness led to you being in hospital, I hope you are feeling better now.
Crissy I know how you feel about being hesitant about telling anyone I am feeling the same way. I am 36 and I am having No. 5 and I am dreading telling my husband's family because they keep telling me that I should have my tubes tied. I have told my mother and a few friends but that is all.
New Mummy welcome and I hope we can have some good chats.

Michele I can't believe that your hb's familiy is like that!
I DO hope they only pick on you in jest!!!!
Five kids is a big family these days, but I know many families with six (have babysat for them- and yes it IS hard work)- but at times I have been quite jealous of the relationships the kids have with each other! Coming from a family of two kids born 5 years apart (and I wanted a sister - got a brother :) ) - we never had that deep connection that can occur in a larger family...
If you want a big family - that is YOUR choice!!! Good on you - I do hope hubby backs you up!!!
btw - one of the families of six- presented their dad with a thankyou card after his vasectomy (thanking him for NOT getting it done sooner :) ) I thought it was a gorgeous touch!!!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who wants the big tummy NOW - since I'm quite sure I'll be sick of it soon enough!
I saw my GP last night and today booked an appointment with an OB, but it's not until 12th May - by that stage I'll be at 14 weeks. Does that seem too late? I'm not in a high risk group, but it seems a long time to wait! In the meantime my GP will order a blood test for me, and my fingers are crossed that the OB will have a cancellation!
On the positive side, I've discovered that the nausea is far better if I can eat something for breakfast and keep my stomach from getting too empty. My food of choice right now is raspberry sorbet and raspberry frozen yoghurt (yes, for breakfast, too!) Cold things have very little smell, which seems to be the key!
PS - a couple of young mums at work guessed my secret this morning! But they're very excited and have promised not to say a word.
Keep up the good work....
e
hey all :)
I too have discovered that (for me anyway) keeping something light in my tummy tends to limit the nauseous feeling- my choices at the moment are ANYTHING with vegemite on it- usually a salada biscuit??? and FRUIT TINGLES (thank you soooooo much to who ever put that tip in the morning sickness thread - you have saved me on many car trips now :) )
YAY first ob appointment Thursday (I am seriously counting the sleeps- I need to get a life!!!! ) - my obs appointment is at only 8 weeks - which is early, but apparently they are very very hard people to get in an see- I'll take any appointment :) - I am SOOOOOO excited!!! finally some actual proof that this is real... (I felt ripped off at the dr- she just did another urine test- I could have done THAT at home!!!!!!)
hope you are all well

Hi, everyone,
Emmalouise No it is not too late to go and see your obs at 14 weeks. My first appointment with my obs. is on the 4th May I will be 13 weeks when I see him. As long as you had your blood tests done early and as long it is before you go for your 18 week scan it shouldn't matter when you see your obs.
Veve Yes my husband is backing me up. He is actually going to be the one telling his family about my pregnancy. I have just told my kids and they are really excited especially my four year old girl, who keeps mentioning the baby in mummy's tummy and hoping it is a girl. I have three boys.
Hi to all the newcomers I hope you are all well and the M/S is not bad.
I have this terrible cold at the moment and it is not good that I cannot take anything for it. I am having panadol and putting vicks on but this cold is stubborn and will not leave me, I had it for 2 weeks now. It is making me so tired.

Hi all,
well it seems that I am actually 10.5 weeks - which makes me due about 30/10, but you never know it will probably fall in november anyway.
its amazing how many different things you feel at the very beginning, excited, tired, worried, scared, nauseous etc. its almost like saying you get 4 seasons in one day.
Michelle - sorry to hear your sick - hope you feel better soon - look after yourself.
I had my first scan last night - very exciting - they confirmed that bubby is approx. 4cm big, with a good heartbeat. I have an appointment with the midwife & OB in 4 weeks, so hopefully that will all go well and that my blood tests are ok.
With the nauseous/morning sickness thing, eating small snacks is definitely the way to go. I will have to give the fruit tingle thing a go!!!
hi all!!!
nkenward congratulations on the scan!!!
I saw the OB for the first time today- SO exciting- he confirmed the dates (due mid nov) - and I got to see the baby and the heartbeating (so fast!!)- it is still bizare to be pregnant, just a different bizare now that it has been confirmed!! YAY! :)
Michelle- sorry to hear about your cold- it really is made so much more revolting because you cant have anything but panadol..... chemists just give you a sympathetic look (which doesn't help!) - hope you feel better soon!!!!!
lots of hugs to all

Hi everyone :)
I have recently discovered that I am pregnant with my second baby, I'm due around nov 8 or 9. I have a 2yr old son, born 22/03/2003.
I was just wondering, i've noticed people talking about having scans at around 12 weeks, are you in private healthcare? I'm not and have never been offered a scan at that stage. I had one at 20 weeks with my son and my dr said that's when I'll be having one this time too. Just curious about that one :)
Looking foward to getting to know everyone else here :D
Hi everyone,
I'm due 29 November - so almost 7 weeks now. This is my second, and so far the 2 pregnancies couldn't be more different (apart from the fact they both happened first month trying). I've had morning/noon/evening sickness for a fortnight already, I feel hot alot, and my skin already feels dry. I'm wondering whether there's 2 inside making themselves known every minute of the day! I didn't have any sickness first time (well, maybe a bit queasy for one day) and didn't feel out of sorts until much later on.
And yes, it's driving me to distraction not being able to tell people about it!!
CWSMum - I was with the Birth Centre first time (so classed as public) and wasn't offered a 10 week scan either. I'm going private this time, and am really hoping that I'll get to have one soon. However, a friend of mine had a baby last year and went public and she organised a scan referral through her normal GP, and not through the hospital. So, maybe you could give it a go?
Deb.

Hi guys ....
cwsmum I had my 8 weeks scan (going though an OB- he just used the scanner in his office to checked that all was well... it was VERY exciting)- I do have private cover , HOWEVER - the OB said that unless I was 30 something there was no point in doing a 10 or 12 week scan, as it is usually just to rule out genetic conditions such as downs syndrome.
He DID offer the scan to me, but said unless I thought that there was a history of some things in my family- that there wasn't much point.
Hope this helps!!!!! (it is SO confusing to know what is best!!!!)
lots of love to all

Hi Everybody. Hope all is going well for each and every one of you. I am now almost 9 weeks and due Nov 17th. I went to the GP during the week and had my first scan... it was unbeleivable!... it's 1.76 cm and we could hear it's heart. Does this seem small though to anybody else?
I have ben very well. No morning sickness yet!... did have a temp and flu last week but over that now (thankgod!).
Can anybody tell me when should i be having blood tests etc? I have booked an Appt with the OB but that is not till may 24th - that's the earliest i could get in! When th GP did the scan she just did the scan... didn't even check my blood pressure or anything. Should i be going and getting blood tests etc done?
I can't wait to tell everyone either... but do want to wait for a bit!
Hi Jessie!!
I just realised that we had our first bubs at the same time, and now we're almost going to have no. 2 at the same time too! I love coincidences.

Hi there all,
Glad to hear everyone is going well.
CWSmum - I had my first scan at 10 weeks (I'm am going public), my midwife said it wasn't necessary but I just wanted to experience everything. She said the 2nd scan at b/w 18 to 20 weeks is the most important one. I had the first one to confirm the due date, and they checked the baby's heart beat etc.
My midwife at the hospital booked me in, and said that it was covered under the public system as such.
Kimnjim - My scan at 10 weeks & 3 days showed my baby to be 3.7cm. It had a head but not much of a bottom yet. I wouldn't be too worried about the size at the moment, as with all babies/children - they all grow at their own pace.
As for the blood tests, I believe these should all be done before 12 weeks I think, it could be different depending on who you see. I had mine done at 8 weeks. haven't had the results back yet - I will get those on my next appoint at 14 weeks.
Natalie.

It is a coincidence (or not - if you think that all things happen as they are meant to!)
Remember I was telling you - we were in the B/C at the same time - we left the day that you came in - we were in room 3, I think you were in Room 1!! A very beautiful connection indeed!
Incidently what was Lillienne's due date? Mickayla came a week early - was due 29th Oct.
Very much looking forward to the preggie journey with you. (visit the keep your preggie diary forum if you have time!!)

Hello everyone,
We've just told our friends and family (nearly 10 weeks). It's funny, after being so desperate to share our news, I wasn't sure quite what to say  ! Anyway, everyone is happy for us - even my sister who'll end up with a rather pregnant bridesmaid in July! Luckily she's not fussed about organising, so we can leave the dress until the last minute.
I'm coping ok with moderate morning sickness, but what's really bugging me is itchiness. It reminds me of having chickenpox when I was little, except there's no visible evidence! It's worst when I go to bed, and I toss and turn and drive my husband round the twist. We even put fresh sheets on the bed one night at about 2am! I've got a new body wash to try which is supposed to ease it, and an anti-itch spray, so hopefully I can get some moere sleep. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Hi all
I am new to this but not to motherhood ! My second is due November 30th (my birthday!!) Still early days but i have been so sick and already in Maternity pants....yes there is a history of twins but i guess i will have to wait a bit longer before we know about that and at this stage i am happy going along thinking its only one and knowing no different !!!!
My baby Boy Samuel is 1 now, such a gem ! Would love to talk to other mums with a reasonably small gap between children (Samuel will be 20 months when bub 2 is due)
also i am in South East Vic.... so if you read this Nkenward, where abouts are you??
PS..Why is everyone keeping the secret !!?? Let the world know... you are only pregnant for such a short time (although at the time it feels so long) share your joy :)

Hi Samsmum04,
Hows it going? Yep I caught your message - I am located in Narre Warren Sth. Where abouts are you?
This is my first pregnancy so its all a bit strange at the moment - but wonderful all the same. I am due on the 30/10/05 - but no one has written in October's section, so if I go over it will probably be in Nov. anyway.
Well all is going well, never felt so warn out in my life though, and I think I have had enough of the nauseous all day - will be glad when I start to feel semi-normal again.
Hope all goes well with you and your little ones. I don't think you should have any issues with babies so close, I think when they grow up they will be closer(mind you they will still have their arguements), but my husband had 5-6 years difference between him and his siblings - and they are like strangers. I think the most important thing is that your son still being a toddler will still want his time with you as well as the baby spending time with you - make sure you also have time with yourself.
Natalie. :)

Hi Natalie
Thanks for replying :)
I am in Oakleigh so we are still a little way from each other, but not too bad. Where will you be having your bub? I am going to Monash in Clayton for the second time. My son was born there too and they dont usually take 2nd timers unless complications but i had gestational diabetes and my son was prem and unwell also i had a big bleed after labour so they said i could come back.
I guess there is no perfect gap between siblings and you just deal with whatever happens, i agree about the big gap thing though.. my hubby has 7 years between him and his sister and they are also like strangers, we always wanted a close gap.
You must be very excited about having your first baby :)
The only advise i can give is to really enjoy the pregnancy (its over too fast) but also enjoy your own time and time with your husband, it becomes less and less as your baby comes and grows but you also get to enjoy great "family" time so its not all bad news :p
We are very anxious about having two ! Sometimes i wonder what possessed me to get pregnant again but then my Son gives me a big cuddle and kiss and i remember :D
Take care of yourself and hope we can chat some more
Cheers

Hi again Samsmum,
Oh Oakleigh itsn't that far. At this stage we are booked into the new Casey Hospital in Berwick that was opened last month. It is quite different to what i have seen at other hospitals, and the rooms look a lot like motel rooms - you have your own room, TV, shower, double bed, fridge etc. However, they only encourage low risk births, and that during the pregnancy if things change then you will be directed to Dandenong or Monash. So far so good.
They also encourage natural birth, but help is there is you need it. As this is my first, as much as I have quite a high pain threshold, I have been told it is a pain like no other, so I am glad that I can have assistance if need be.
I am really excited at the moment, it has taken a bit getting used to, but its amazing when I see other babies now - I think - geez I will have one of those soon!!!
Sorry to hear you went through all that for your first, but glad to hear your son is doing well now. Hopefully all will go well with your second - but at least you will be more fully armed to deal with any issues. Fingers crossed for you that everything will go well.
Natalie. :)

The Casey Hospital sounds lovely Natalie, i hope all going well you can stay with there. I like Monash because i had problems i know i have all the help i need right at hand.
Dont be worried about the birth, i know with your first it is just about all you can think about. So i say this to all first timers.....
Take control, be in charge of your own body, feel empowered !
Stay active and positive.
Putting aside my big bleed and sick baby my actual birth experience was very positive, i had no drugs (except some low amounts of gas) and felt in control and happy the entire time, mind you it was only 6 hours and had i gone longer who knows...???
Anyway having the baby and then toddler afterwards is much harder i can assure you !! haha

Hello All
Natalie - I am due on the 29th Oct - also found that nobody was writing in Oct section! :)
I am from Melb, eastern subs but now live in Country Qld.
Am feeling really awful at the moment - have got some bleeding, started slowly and brownish, now getting brighter and heavier. I feel very sad and scared that the horrible M word is happening. :(
Have been in bed but just needed to tap into you guys for a bit of TLC. DH says not to worry, whatever is meant to be will be. But the more the bleeding happens the sadder my heart feels.
Scan tomorrow - Please all say prayers or have fingers crossed for me. Whatever is your thing!

How are you going? Whereabouts in Qld are you? My husband was original from Qld, but he is now full blown Melbournian - he now eats ice-cream in winter!!!
Have you seen your Dr/Ob about your bleeding? What have they said? I think you should see them - maybe they could get you in earlier so it can ease your mind.
Good luck, and my fingers are crossed that all will be ok for you. Let me know how you go.
Love Natalie. :) Keep smiling.

Hi Guys
Thanks for your thoughts, sad news I'm afraid. No bubba in the belly anymore. :(
Still waiting for it all to 'happen naturally'. Yucky Poo.
Oh well, I have a beautiful little girl so I know I can do it when the time is right.
Natalie - We are in Murgon, about 3 1/2 hrs NW of Bris. They wouldn't put me in any sooner, even when I saw them today there was not much in the way of info given out. I am really not a fan of the public system. I guess they just see it as another 'spontaneous abortion' - what a HORRIBLE term!!
Anyway - while I do feel very sad, it will all be OK in the long run and I guess this bubba just wasn't ready yet!
Love to all X O X

Sorry to all you girls if I put a downa on the forum, on the positive side, statistically, if we have lost ours, you guys should all be good!!
Lots of Love
Hi Jessie,
I saw your post in the diary section and was trying to respond to that but it wouldn't let me. I am so sorry about your news. I had a miscarriage last year with my first pregnancy at 8 weeks and it was bloody awful. You can take some comfort in the fact that you can definitely get pregnant and maintain it all the way like you did with your daughter. It will happen again for you. Let yourself feel sad and awful whenever you need to. I was in shock for the first few weeks but then it started to hit me and I became a crying machine. I still feel sad now (baby would have been due 2 weeks ago) but have the very pleasant distraction of being pregnant again and have made it to 13 weeks and have had an ultrasound last week that confirmed everything is looking good. You will have a positive pregnancy again. Just hug your daughter and husband and look after yourself for now. Best of luck for the next one.

Hi everyone
I am technically due 4 November, but will be having a caesar late October due to my little boy being born by emergency c-section.
Feeling pretty positive, despite my miscarriage in December. Feeling very sick (a strange thing to be pleased about I know!) I had a big ultrasound at 7 weeks (due to spotting, which has since been put down to implantation bleeding) and everything looked good. Had my first OB appointment at 9 1/2 weeks and a little ultrasound there. Again everything looking good.
How's everyone else feeling?
Sarah
Hi everyone.
I'm new to this forum. Just wanted to say how sorry I am to read your news, Jessie. Like you say - here's to the next time around!
I know this is a little late, but cwsmum, I too am a public patient (1st pregnancy, 8 weeks today) only I have been offered a 12 week scan and a 20 week one. I think it is so strange that we all have them at different times. I wonder if you can request an earlier one? So far I am really happy with my care, because at my hospital the public patients share the same OB as the private ones! Yay! We just don't get all the 'upgrades' when we go into labour - not that I mind. So long as my husband is with me, I'll be fine!
Anyway, it's nice to meet some others who are going throught he same 'stuff' as me. I have managed to avoid the vomitting at this stage - a little bit of nausea, but that I can handle!
Best wishes to all on here!
Love, Nan. xx

Hi everyone
In the 12 week/20 week scan issue. I was offered the 12 week scan, but refused it. It is basically a screening test for chromosomal abnormalities, like downs syndrome. Whether you are offered it or not most likely depends on whether you are considered high risk. Over 35 is considered high risk for these sort of problems. I'm 32 and I think I was offered it as I'm getting up there!!! If you are under 30 and not offered the scan it is most likely you are considered low risk. It may also be offered more routinely to private patients (????) as we pay for our tests, whereas for public patients it is at the expense of the government. Not sure how true that is though.

Hi Jessie,
My thoughts are with you and your family. Sorry for your loss.
My family doctor said to me when I first confirmed my pregnancy, he is quite a nice person, he said if a miscarriage occurs, don't be upset, it is something that nature intends to happen for the benefit of the baby, it isn't anything the mother has done, it just wasn't meant to be.
I believe everything has a reason, no matter how it is dealt, and we all learn to accept it somehow.
In regards to Qld, my husband i think came from the Bracken Ridge area.
Natalie.

Hi Nan
It is normal for a pregnancy to have a 12 week and 20 week ultrasound. These are the standard times. Other people may have early scans if they have had previous miscarriages, are not sure of their dates, have a risk of multiples or have had a bleed. Other ultrasounds may be done during the pregnancy at random times due to whatever reasons but 12 and 20 weeks means your pregnancy is going along well without any hitches so well done :)
Good luck with all.
I have just booked my 12 week ultrasound in four weeks (i will actually be 13 weeks when i have it) cant wait, its my second pregnancy and i remember what a thrill it was to see the baby for the first time :)
Hope all are well

I'm so sorry, Jessie. We look forward to hearing some good news from you in the coming months...
Is anyone else starting to feel better? I've noticed in the last week I feel much less nauseous and am hoping it's going to stay that way! I'm still very sleepy though. I had my first blood test on Monday (just the 'standard' antenatal things) - does anyone know how long it takes to get the results?

Hi E
You should get your results back in around four working days. I reckon its best to wait until its been a week and then go for your results then.
I got my results last week from my standard antenatal blood tests and i came back positive to HepC !! After further testing it was found to be a false positive !! Talk about a scare though......
Good luck with them

Hi Tracey,
How are you going? I had my blood tests done on my first appoint. with the midwife. I haven't received the results yet, I have been told that they will be discussed on my next appoint which is in 3 weeks. I suppose if they had been terrible I suppose they would have contacted me.
Geez, that was quite a scary result, just goes to show sometimes how inaccurate some tests are huh. Its not something you really want to hear though.
Hi Emma,
Yeah I am feeling slightly better, I am now in my 13th week, so I suppose that means we are heading into the 2nd trimester. It certainly has gone really fast!!! I feel really good during the day - but come night time I feel a little under the weather, and I haven't really eaten a proper dinner in some weeks. But I feel like I am getting to the end of it all.

Hi again Natalie,
Yes a very scary result !! It also came at a time where i was spending most of my days at my dying Grandfathers bedside, so a very stressful week waiting for the second lot of results to come through, and like you say just goes to show how wrong these tests can be !! I am sure if there was any problems with your tests they would have called you so i would assume all is ok.
Its nice to hear that you are feeling better now, i am still feeling pretty ordinary every day, but hopefully that will pass by 12 weeks, i am nearly 10 weeks now so not long to go i guess.
Anyway i hope you continue to feel better all the time and can really start enjoying your pregnancy !

By the way can anyone else relate to just not wanting their husbands / partners to not even touch them let alone have sex??!!!
I just cant stand the thought at the moment and my poor hubby is at his wits end as i couldnt get enough when pregnant with my son !
would love to know i am not alone on this one.

Hi ladies :)
I haven't been here for a while, how's everyone feeling? Thankfully I'm starting to feel better, i've even had the energy to take my 2yr old son to the park yesterday :)
samsmum, I can kinda relate to the not wanting to be touched/have sex thing, only I can't seem to have enough cuddles and kisses but anything past that and I just lose interest :( Hopefully feeling like this doesn't last til november, for everyones sakes :p
If I can just get past this being starving at 10pm stage life will almost be normal again, for a while anyway...

Hey there Tracey,
Yeah I can kind of relate to not being touched/interested in sex. Its really strange isn't it, its almost like your mind is saying yeah I want to, but your heart and the rest of body can't be bothered.
My husband since I have become pregnant has become really can I say horny (not sure what other word would describe it better), and it sometimes becomes quite annoying as I couldn't be less interested - sleep is much better.
However, I have told him that he has to be a bit more romantic if he wants me to be a little more interested, you know a lot more kisses and caresses. And I have to say in the morning is a lot better, as you are a bit more alert and not as worn out.
Hopefully this is just a part of the pregnancy and it passes soon!!!!
Natalie. :)

I haven't been interested in much either, but DH is being so considerate about not touching me, that I have to ASK for a cuddle when we go to bed! :p
I'm very excited to have reached the 12-week mark today, but still have another 2 weeks before my first ob appointment. Those of you who have been already - what should I expect?

Hi E
I think all obs probably do their first appointment a little differently, just as any GP probably does. My ob takes your history (and your partners), gives you the spiel about what you can and can't eat, drink etc, weighs you, takes your blood pressure, orders some blood tests (if your GP hasn't already), feels your tummy for the fundus (top of the uterus), checks for a heartbeat and confirms dates using his basic ultrasound machine, discusses whether you are due for a pap or breast check, general discussion of how your feeling etc etc. Interestingly I did not have an internal (which a lot of the books claim is "usual" - he says at this stage he doesn't learn any more by doing one, so he doesn't see the point). He also wrote out a referral to your 19 week scan.
The first appointment is generally really long - when I saw him with my first child the initial appointment was 45 minutes long!!! This time as he had all my history etc it was more like 20 minutes.
It is also a good opportunity to see if you are happy with their philosophies ... eg my sister in law knew she would like access to drugs if she wanted them in the delivery room and the first OB she saw was very anti so she changed drs very quickly.
Hope that helps. Let us know how you go.

and like many of you said hopefully it wont last long.... certainly my husband hopes not !! :p
I am starting to feel well and get my appetite back so that is good. I am 10.5 weeks now and am starting to wonder if my dates are out as i feel a lot more advanced, and i look a lot more advanced !! I am HUGE already! and not just blobby like you often are at the start of a pregnancy its a really firm bump! Its starting to freak me out a bit and i am looking forward to my ultrasound in a few weeks just to make sure it is only one baby !!
Anyway hope you all keep well and feel well

Hey there everyone,
Well things are looking good. We have our 2nd appointment with the midwife tomorrow along with our first appointment with the hospital's OB. Its kind of exciting and nerve racking all the same. Not sure what to expect!!
We are now about 14 & 1/2 weeks, I can't believe how quickly the weeks fly by. Feeling lots better the last 2 days, and I actually have an appetite at night time for dinner. My grandmother says she reckons we will have a girl because of not being able to stomach dinner and have gone off cooking completely. Who knows, maybe cause she has been around a bit longer - she may have the answer.
How is everyone else going? Would like any info on what happens with your appointments with OB? I expect that they will discuss blood results etc, but do they actually do internal examinations - what do they actually do? (sorry if its a bit gross).
Thanks all.
Natalie. :)
Hi girls!
It's good to hear that things are going well for everyone. I haven't been on here for a while so I though I'd drop by for a quick read.
Tracey, try not to worry about how big you are. I'm sure you're just gorgeous! Everyone's different. My doctor told me today that the uterus is in different positions in different women. Perhaps yours just naturally sits more towards the front. Mine sits more towards the back and she said that is why I'm not showing yet (I'm 11 weeks). Apparently, when I do it will happen very quickly though.
Natalie, I just had my second check up today and had an internal exam. Some doctors do it and some don't, depending on how far along you are. I also had a pap smear (yuck!), breast exam, more blood taken (my hormones are bizarre, so she is making sure they are okay) and the usual weigh and fundal height measure etc. Oh, I almost forgot the most important thing - I heard the baby's heartbeat!! Given that it is only jellybean size, I thought it was pretty amazing. It's good because now I know I really have a baby in there! (Not many symptoms, you see!)
Anyway, it is nice to catch up and read everyone's posts. Stay positive everyone and enjoy! :)
Love,
Nan. xx
hey all
for some reason I haven't checked this thread for awhile??? (preggers brains??) - I've missed the last few posts...
nkenward- I hadn't heard that about having a girl- although today someone told me I was having a boy- because I have gone off sweet stuff (chocolate is quite boring?!?!?) and love savory, vegemite etc.... the wivestales certainly come out when you start talking to people!!! I suppose we can look back and wonder when we finally know the real answer!
samsmum04- oh I wish I was getting fat!!!! I dont really feel pregnant yet- the nausea has settled, and I really want a mummy-tummy!!!!!!!! - let us know if it is twins!!! :)
Wow Nan your Doctor is REALLY thorough!!!! All my OB has done is taken blood, checked my blood pressure and done two ultrasounds!!! (not envying the pap smear or the internal examination though!) - but at least all/ any of your fears should be put to rest :)
I hope everyone is feeling healthy and perky .... I really want the second trimester to start- you are supposed to feel more energetic (I'm a little tired of falling asleep before the sun goes down!!!!!)
lots of love

Hope you are all feeling great and the morning sickness has gone away :)

Any thoughts?? Anyone???

Hi All, i hope everyone is well and happy today :)
Nan you are so sweet to say i look great ! My hubby says the same but i just feel monstrous ! hehe oh well there is no doubting i am pregnant! and Jen i know what you mean about wanting to look pregnant, with my first i took longer to show and you really do want that "mummy tummy" as you say :)
but this time people keep asking me how far i am and when i say 11 weeks (or 12 weeks now) i get the "oh, right, um, is it only one?" sort of responses, which is not so great :(
Anyway i cant wait for my ultrasound which is on the 23rd (still a way to go)
In regards to old wives tales and cravings and the sex of the baby, with my first i was text book for a boy, carried out front, savory foods, headaches, very well etc, etc and i did have a boy!
This time i am all sweets and have been really sick for first 12 weeks so maybe a girl this time?
Go to website
www.childbirth.org/articles/boyorgirl.html
for a bit of fun, answer all the questions that you can (leave the questions you cant answer) and it will tell you your chance (percentage) of a boy or girl. Its good fun to do with friends too. I did it with my girlfriend a few weeks ago and it said higher chance girl and she had a girl on Wednesday!
Anyway hi to all and take care of yourselves and your bubs
Trace
Hahaha! I just visited the website, Tracey, and I have a 50% chance of both!! So, I'm none the wiser! The questions they ask are pretty funny. I guess it's because I'm pretty much behaving and looking the same as I always have - not really leaning one way or the other. Thanks for the link. I'll visit it again later and see what it says.

Hi Nan
Glad you enjoyed the link, it is fun :)
probably more accurate when we are further along as a few questions are about how we are carrying.
according to the site i have a 76% chance of a girl and yesterday i had to babysit my two nephews as well as have my own son and after all that my fingers are crossed for a girl !! heheh :p
Anyway how are you doing? I hope you are keeping well.

Hi there all November Mums
We have all been a bit quiet lately so i am hoping all feel well.
My sickness is pretty much completely passed now so thats great, just really tired still. I had my first scan yesterday and pleased to say its only one, healthy little bub :)
Bubs was described by the lady doing the scan as placid and co-operative so thats good :) I compared the video with my sons 12 week scan and my son was bouncing from one side of my uterus to the other the whole time, whereas this baby was very still only moving a little, so i must say i am liking the idea of a quiet, placid little bub second time around :D
Anyway hope all are going well, chat soon

Well according to that site:
You have a 56% chance of having a boy.
And you have a 43% chance of having a girl.
Though i notice that they have one of the tests in the wrong way - needle swinging side to side is a boy not a girl (circle) if i remeber rightly ;)
I sorta feel its a boy but as long as its healthy I dont mind either way:)
Some of those questions sorta not so easy to answer like the heel of bread and orange juice every day etc... sorta no either way which id be more i think :p
Hi everyone!
Good to hear your baby will be placid, Tracey!! Haha! Well, I had my first scan last week and all looks good. I'll ring the doctor tomorow and get proper results, but it was certainly dancing around in there! Very much alive indeed! At one stage it put both arms and legs out and looked like a little star.......the show off!! Must get that from Dad, I reckon. It gets the dancing from him, too, as I have 2 left feet! Anyway, it was good to see it and know there really is one in there as I'm still not showing much yet. (14 weeks on Monday) I have a little bit more tummy, but it looks more like I'm full of food than baby. I'm expecting that to change over the next fortnight, though. I hope all of you are going well and are healthy.

Hi Nan,
We are due at the same time as I was 14 weeks yesterday, it's nice to see that someone is at the same stage as myself, I have no real tummy yet either, although my pants are starting to get a bit tight, as this is my first, i can't wait to get the bump. look forward to chatting over the coming months. :p
Hi everyone.
I hope you are all feeling well. Nice to met you Mel. How are you going? Clothes still fit? My bump is here now and I'm doing the 'loop a hair tie around the button' trick, so that my jeans will fit!! I went out and bought a few bits of clothing today to get me through the next few weeks! Can't find any decent, cheap pants anywhere, though. Oh, well.
Love,
Nan. xx
aww guys- I'm jealous!!!! I'm 18 weeks preg.... almost 19 weeks, and I have barely started to show :( people seem amazed at my lack of baby- although the ob wasn't too worried at all ...
I would LOVE to be in fat pants - or to at least feel that it will be needed soon!!! I agree though Nan that good cheap pants are hard to come by.... I really want to avoid the hipster pants (not good with my 'child-bearing' hips :) ) if anyone finds any.... - especially on sale... please post!!!!!!!
hope all are well in pregnancy :)
lots of hugs
Jen
Hi again girls!
Jen, I know what you mean about people being amazed. That's what everyone's been saying about me, too. One of my colleagues has a daughter who is due the same time as me and I met her the other day. Let's just say she was mildly horrified that she was so much bigger than me. It's her second, though, so I guess that is what happens.
Today I was in a paint & decorator centre and the lady asked me if the stuff was for a little boy or girl and how old they were. When I told her it was still being 'cooked' she said I didn't even look pregnant. I can tell, though, as I've always had a fairly flat tummy!
Oh, I found some cheap pants!! I'm sorry to say they are the under belly ones though so some of you may not like them. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll tell you where I got them from.
Stay healthy & happy!

Nan. xx

Im showing a bit now im 19 weeks. I ended up going to Target today and getting some maternity pants finally - my normal ones were getting too small even with the buttons undone
Target's got a 30% discount on at pres. and it applied to the maternity pants also - so I ended up getting 2 pairs for about $27 each which isnt too bad. Got some of those V shaped ones that go under your belly - felt pretty comfortable trying them on but I gather will have to wear long tops with them - they had normal sorta height ones also.

Hi :)
How is everyone going? Hope you are all well, it's been kinda quiet round here lately.
Has anyone had their 20 week scans yet? How did everyone go? Did you find out what you are having?
I had mine on monday and my bub was being modest, crossing her legs and tucking them up near her bottom making it very hard to see if she is definatly a girl or a boy...The guy who did the scan is 80% sure we are having a girl tho :p I have to go back in 4 weeks for another scan coz some of the measurements were at the smaller end of the scale for a bub of almost 20 weeks gestation. My dates must be out...hopefully not by too much, november is pretty hot in Qld :)

In regards to all wanting to look preggas and get that belly.... Hold out you are soooo lucky, once that belly comes you become so much more uncomfortable. I was in maternity pants at 7 weeks (2nd pregnancy and a twin scare!!) around 10 weeks my growth almost stopped and i have just now started to grow again.

I'm having first (and only) child and just love everything, except the constant worrying already! Have had 4 scans - all 3D/4D - has been amazing to follow her progress over the last 21 weeks!
Dylan appeared as if overnight at around 18 weeks but could definitely see her before then. Its just that now none of my clothes fit...
