Good Evening

Anyone else on FSH Injections? I have my dosage set to 37.5mLs and when I go to pull out the end I just pull it until it stops. It doesn't have an indicator there that says I've pulled it out to 37.5mLs though. How do I know if I've pulled it out far enough? Although saying that it won't let me pull it out any further.

Also - when I have run out of needles in the box - do I just throw out the pen and open a new box?

Cheers

Hm... it doesnt sound like the pen I used.

My pen was dark blue (and a bit of yellow) and was called a Puregon Pen. You put a cartridge of the Puregon (FSH) in it which will last for a while particularly on low doses and it had a little window with indicators on it which you wound the end of the pen to to get the correct dosage. You then attached a clean needle and pressed the end of the pen in to get your injection dosage (which also re-set the dosage indicator). You then threw out the needle and stored the pen in the fridge until the next dosage time.

I assume you are seeing a Fertility Specialist for this treatment (I wouldnt have thought Gynos would have gone this far in treatment and would refer someone after Clomid). Whoever you are seeing they should have showed you the correct usage of it, these drugs can be dangerous if used incorrectly so they need to be giving you the attention you need. You should really ring them up and ask them to explain it better.

Good Luck. Im sorry I couldnt help further.

I've being looking around a little and I am came across this....it's a step-by-step instruction guide to giving Puregon Injections.

I hope that it's the same as what your taking? and you find it helpful

Using Puregon step-by-step click here (http://www.puregonpen.com/international/login.asp)

Thanks ladies. I am using the Gonal-f injections. I think I have it sorted - am seeing the FS in the morning for my first scan. Thanks again.

I hope you don't mind me asking but what are these injections you are talking about and what does it do? Is it like a higher dosage of clomid or something similar??? Sorry just never heard of it!

Once you have dialled up your dose, then end only pulls out a little way....I didn't think that I was pulling it out far enough either, but apparently I was!

And gosh - 37.5 is a small dose of Gonal-F....I was on 150 for my ED cycle.

Good luck - if you run out of the needles and still have FSH in your pen, let me know. I have a brand new, never been opened, now out of date Gonal-F pen here with 13 unopened needles that you are welcome to.

Hi ziggyzena, dont appologise for not knowing what something is! :p
FSH stands for Folicle Stimulating Hormone which is a hormone injected which works much the same way as the Clomid tablets do but is stronger (and a different drug), it stimulates the Ovaries to produce folicles which hopefully one or two will dominate and mature and contain an egg to then be released at Ovulation (which is also triggered by another injection called HCG - yes, the pregnancy hormone).

FSH is injected every day at roughly the same time at the start of a cycle (if you have one! if not when your hormone levels are low) you are monitored to see how your hormones are reacting, if they dont seem to be then your dose is upped and you keep injecting. My longest was about 3 weeks straight of injections (as I had to up the dosage) but it was worth it as that was when I conceived! :D Normally I think they would be about a week or so of them. they start you out on low doses to see how your body will react then gradually up the dose if needed, this kind of treatment can be dangerous if you produce too many folicles (Ovarian Hyperstimulation) but this is rare and with monitoring via blood tests and scans throughout the treatment this is not a real problem if you are following directions given by your fertility specialist.

I hope that explained the basics without confusing.
