Afternoon girlies,

I posted in the March thread, then remembered it is now April, so here's a new thread for April (and my last post):

Cate...:hugs: good to hear nirther of you were hurt in the accident.
SammyG...I think this is the reason why I haven't had any professional photo's done yet. They always take so many good ones.
Flicka...LOL at toilet trining. Don't you just love the inbetween stage:laughing: .
2cute....100 questions a minute. I know exactly how you feel. Now I think before mentioning something I've seen while driving/out as it results in a million questions for the next few days.
Aries...love the new avatar pic of X. He's beautiful!
Hels...Smiling while feeding can both eb annoying an cute at the same time. At 3am I find it more annoying than anything. The other day I had TJ on my lap while talking to DH on the phone. She thought I was talking to her so was having a huge conversation with me.
As for my garden, I seem to just find time to water the pot plants and do a bit of maintenance in the back garden, but the front's looking a mess. Dread autumn/winter with my huge frangipani losing it's leaves.
Mim1...Although everything says teething doesn't cause the symptoims Karrina described, you may find it does. I know DD1 had all those symptoms when she was teething.
Sugar...What's a mop? I figure I've got until TJ starts crawling before I need to mop the floor again:rolleyes:  .

A better night last night. Have been giving TJ a bit of Farax before bed, so she has returned to the 8 hour sleeps at night. Still not having big feeds during the day, will ask the CHN about it if I ever get around to visiting her again.

Hi Ladies!

Thanks for the fresh new thread MOUSEBROWN!!
am with you on the no mopping until crawling- most logical explanation i can use, thanks for that one!

Just wanted to report that we did take x down to the festival. We watched the Freo vs. port game at a pub first and he was great there, then he wanted a sleep right when we got to the fest. so was quite cranky, then had to feed there, finally fell asleep, then cracked the sh*ts during Xavier Rudd, felt bad for the poor guy, think it was too loud. So i left DF to have a good nite out, as he hasn't for ages. I was kinda glad to get back to a warm house, and X looked so relieved to be in his bed, he went down at 8pm then I didn't hear from him until 4am!! awesome!!

Hope everyone's enjoying their sunday.........am off for some ZZZZ while x is still napping:fingerscrossed:
bye:wave:

Hi All

Tabby thanks for asking... Billy? Not really sure, temp has gone but he woke about 4 times last night, coughing and choking. He is such an old man while he sleeps, snoring and snuffling and far*ting all night long! DD was never like that.

Had a great day today otherwise, my brother went home today he was pretty emotional at the airport:crying: was sad to see him go but he is had work (needs assistance with showering and can be emotionally trying at times)

Then we went to 'peacenic', like a picnic for Palm Sunday and 'Nuclear Fools Day'. Had KFC, listened to music. There were free pony rides, free icecream and free facepainting. DD was VERY happy indeed:p Alice Springs is such a great place for community events and a sense of belonging.

Came home and myself, Billy and DD all slept together from 2pm - 4pm (DH watched the footy on Austar/Foxtel). Tonight we went out again as there was 'Storywall' a free event in the Todd Mall promoting nuclear free environment and Indigenous issues - out on the lawns through short films. Poor Billy didn't know what hit him and by 9pm had enough! He just wouldn't sleep in his pram  . Did a spot of shopping at Woolies and got home by 10pm. Billy took a while to settle and I hope it's not becoming a habit but needed to be held to go to sleep. He has only started the 'screaming' until he is rocked, held or patted to sleep:banghead: He was so easy to get to sleep before, wrapped and placed in bed and was asleep in minutes. Oh well, the joys of babies...just when you think you have figured them out they change!

Checked out the free 'samples' thread and have sent requests off to a number of companies to try out their baby products, will see what happens in the weeks to come.

Other than that, great to see a new thread! Anyone know what happened to DragonFlyBlu - no hear from in a while

Hi, here too, sorry disappeared so fast.
I think about DragonFlyBlu a lot too, esp as we have the same minimink rug:wave: If you're listening.

Great AS times Karrina and Freo times Aries :smiliedance: If you'd yelled out "his name is Xavier too" to Mr Rudd he'd have been cool with it:) Went to see him about 2yrs ago.. Great X was enjoying all.

Hels, awesome abt pusher#2. Yes I understand rashness..I bought our pram rashly fast on ebay..it is an awesome running pram, but is not a great pram pram, so have a $100 3rd hand emmaljunga also.

Mousebrown, I had coffee with cool chick Robyn+J from my Parents Group this morning..shes's also got a fly-in-fly out partner..was still a surprise she knew/knew of you!! Real world - meets virtual world.

SammyG have you posted some of the shots of yr two beauties on the 'photo' thread? + A stuffed fruit bat?? Gosh that is amazing.

nite nite all!

Argh! April's here!! I feel a bit sad.. Caitlin is getting so old and big and April is sooo far away from December.

aries - good on you for having a go with taking Xavier out! :P And what a great sleep :)

Charis: I'm recording Caitlin on the Ngala sleep/feed chart too and I'm finding everything so relaxed and better as well. Here it is for everyone else:

Sleep Chart (http://www.ngala.com.au/content.php?page=28)

Hope that link worked!! It's really good anyway.

Ooer! Free samples. I might check that out too Karrina .. hrm...

In laws are arriving on Thursday this week for goodness knows how long. I'm dreading it - i've been in tears all week worrying about how I'm going to keep Caitlin to some sort of schedule and getting her to have her sleeps in the day. They are just soo demanding and (dare I say it) selfish - like keeping the TV turned up really loud and not helping out in any way, shape or form. To make matters worse, it's the holidays so there are no mother group events to escape to. aaaaand DH will be at work too...

That is all.

cordelia ... I feel your inlaw pain. My MIL came over yesterday and she couldn't believe me when I said that on Friday Josh slept between feeds and only had 4 feeds, so he was only awake for about 4 hours in the day. She told me I was letting him sleep too much. I said they need it for growth and brain development. Then he stirred from his deep sleep (after only 40 minutes) and so she wanted to get him up ... 'your daddy grew and he didn't need his sleep, come to grandma'. grrr! What's more annoying is that we have a bookcase in Josh's room and everytime she comes she gets annoyed that it isn't filled with books! She thinks it's ridiculous that I have wraps and cloth nappies on it. Yesterday she said TO JOSH "I'm going to have to bring more books over to put on your bookcase cause your mummy keeps filling it up with other things!" Don't get me wrong, I think reading is important, but these are my only shelves in his room outside of the closet and so they are the best place to put his wraps, etc. There are books on the bottom shelf. And who says that a bookcase has to only have books on it anyway?

mmm ... sorry for the rant. My MIL is going away with us for a couple of days soon and I'm dreading it.

Josh didn't do a repeat performance in the sleep stakes, but he did feed at 9, 3 and 8, so it wasn't too bad.

hels ... what pram did you get? still can't believe you're seriously talking about #2 at this stage after all you've been through :)

Tabby

oops didnt realise april thread but heres what I posted other

Hels: I wanted a reverse handle pram for that reason too. Took me months to find one here!

victoria: :hugs: for bubs and you for the needles.
I chose my gp for that, hes wonderful with needles but lacking in other things, so we just go to him when its needles. argh only another 3 weeks and more due!

Well Katie was shocking last night. grumbling and tossing and turning ALL night from 12.20am onwards. I cant figure out whats wrong :(
I do hope shes not teething already. Tis about the only thing I can think of that it could be.
She's the usual happy self rest of the time but come sleep shes grumbly as. Maybe just enough to be uncomfortable?
I just dont know. Have exhausted everything else.
Tho only things showing that are runny poos now and lots of dribble and chewing my finger or hers ( definetly chewing not sucking it )

hello ladies, happy monday morning and april,
charis, great that you are finding a routine, I think we are too although I find its hard to stick to unless you stay at home all day every day! I was :banghead: myself Friday when I went out for too long. H fell asleep in the car but wouldn't stay asleep when we got home so had 15 minutes instead of his usual proper sleep. Day sleeps seem to be increasing from 45 minutes to about 1 1/4 hours and yesterday morning 2 1/2 hours which is pretty rare - probably due to too much running around and no proper sleeps on Saturday arvo.
Sugar I've had shocking head cold symptoms too which I think is hayfever but don't usually get it this time of year?? I had none when I was prgnant which was heaven. Not sure what, if any, antihistamines you can take when BF?
 Cordelia, hope you deal with the outlaws ok. Hearing you and Mim's story makes me so grateful mine are so easy going.
Not much to report here really except that I'm really enjoying this stage. H is so easy and happy. Moving him into a cot will be the next big challenge I think. Hopefully it will be ok.
Tabby I hear you about the chewing v sucking. That's definitely where we're at - plus very pink cheeks sometimes which I've been told is a sign of teething. :fingerscrossed: its at least a few weeks away still.
glad to hear others don't clean their floors either. Housework?? I'm so proud of myself if I manage to do the vacuuming, bathroom essential bits and iron a few shirtsfor DH (lucky him). Yesterday the vacuum cleaner broke and today the iron!! I had a spare iron that turned out to be cactus too so I decided to have a cuppa and go on bub hub instead. gotta get your priorities right.
thanks for hte ngala link - it worked. I was recording times but stopped a few weeks ago.
Might have another go at it though.

Just re posted from March chat:

Hels - Not sure where you are in Melbourne. I have just had DD hands and feet done. It is in Dingley. The lady was fantastic and she can take photos there for you as well. I will get all the photos she took on a disc for $25. I think thats a bargain and then I can print what ever I want in whatever size for over half the price of pixi etc. Let me know if you want more info.

Hope everyone had a good night. We are still up at 1 and 5. So hoping this will change soon.

Had needles done on Saturday. She screamed so badly. This is the first time one of my kids has screamed so badly. Having said that when i took the covers off there was so much blood for such a little needle. Dont think I will be going to that doctor again. Poor little thing. She seems Ok now.

Speaking off just woken up . More later.

Wow one weekend off the computer and i'm so behind....

mim1 I think I would slap my mil if she did that....she's full on but would never ever ever dream of waking audrey up!!!!

thanks to everyone for your thoughts re 'the accident'. My parents have just left; my dad and I managed to get the assessment, pick up the hire car and drop the smashed car off all while mum look after audrey and she slept the whole time!

our pram is one that can face both front or back...we spent quite a bit of time researching because i really wanted one that i could see her in and talk to her when we are walking.....very glad we managed to get it out of the boot!!!!

i too can hardly believe that we're all hitting 3 months....i feel really sad when i see someone out and they have a little little baby.....audrey will never be that small again!!!

Brisbane mummies - trying to organise a catchup this Wednesday. Hope to see some of you there.

Victoria - Please could you PM me the details of the place at Dingley that does the hands and feet? Thanks.

Tabby - Sorry to hear that Katie had a bad night. I'm no expert but it does sound like teething. I hope she is more settled tonight :fingerscrossed:

Mim - I got a Steelcraft Strider pusher, here's a couple of pics of how it can be configured and one of R in it this morning;

Stider-4-Slate-Reverse-Seat.jpg (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i60/Hels-b/Reece/Stider-4-Slate-Reverse-Seat.jpg)

Strider-4-Slate-Forward-Facejpg (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i60/Hels-b/Reece/Strider-4-Slate-Forward-Fac.jpg)

Reece/Strider1.jpg (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i60/Hels-b/Reece/Strider1.jpg)

Well R is asleep (in his pusher) again :smiliedance: I fed him this morning, then gave him a shower in his bath seat. Then I put him into his pusher and wheeled him around the house with me whilst I sorted out the washing and did other jobs. He was happy to lay there gurgling and watching me. When he got sleepy I walked around the family room with him until he dropped off to sleep. Which then left me free to have my shower and jump on here. I will try to do this every day as a routine now. This arvo we are going for a walk down to the shops. I find that he sleeps better at night if we go out in the fresh air for a while. Last night he had a feed at 10.30pm and I didn't hear from him again until 5.45am.

Hels we got the Steelcraft Bayamo which is very similar to the strider! Just love looking at your picky with Reece all cuddles up...we're still in shortie suits here - 34 deg on Friday!!!! Bring on winter!!

Routine! What is that?? Charis, very jealous that you and a few of the others seem to have a routine coming together and hope it keeps working for you.

Having dramas with Cameron's sleep. He started screaming as soon as it even looked like he was going to be wrapped or put in his cot which is not how I want him to feel about sleeptime. Problem is, no matter how tired he is, he will rarely fall asleep unless he is wrapped first (or on the breast!). So it is either put up with 20 mins hysterical crying trying to get him wrapped or spend ages holding over the shoulder/rocking/comforting in cot until he falls asleep which can sometimes take so long it is time for a feed before he has even had a nap. And thus begins a cycle of fussy feeding because he is tired and difficulty settling to sleep becasue he's not fed well and is even more tired. At least once he is asleep he usually sleeps fairly well and even though he is tired, he is mostly still happy and babbly when awake. And I'm usually able to easily feed him back to sleep for his night feed which is one less battle anyway. I just feel that amongst all the feeding and settling we are missing out on proper 'play' time.

Might try that sleep/feed chart Cordelia!

freddie - have had bad sinus the last week or two and people have recommended I try Fess nasal spray. No probs breastfeeding as just a saline solution. Meant to be good for hayfever too.

Thanks for listening :)

Hi lovely ladies:wave:
We're just home from our first swim! 15mins of bubs and then when bedded down, 45mins of Mummy water aerobics, was good if not a bit tiring. At Mercy Hosp for the Perth girls. All the bubs slept after their swim! I don't think H knew what to make of it, but did think it was a bit like a big bath at the end.

Cat13 I am hearing you!! Hunter was just the same, really was..hysterical crying to go to sleep during the day, each time. He now is swaddled like before but now has a dummy and is patted to sleep. V FAST! And v unstressful. He only uses the dummy to go to sleep..and I wasn't convinced about them before, but they certainly work!!!:smiliedance:

Mim1 yikes that is some naughty MIL! I love yr bookcase defence, she sounds barmy, I mean who wouldn't put wraps in a bookcase, its not like they can read all that much at this age. All the best for yr holiday.:)

Hels, great about the sleeps and the routine. The pram looks just lovely and great to see R so snug.

Freddie hope yr snuffles clear up soon, great about the longer sleeps!! Yes the move to the cot is the next big stage for us too.

Karrina!! Just saw yr post after posting. Lovely shots of you all. Wow Imani has the most glorious eyelashes!! Such cutie pies together too!! Do you ever think how amazing it is that our littleuns gain weight and grow from b-milk/milk!!

ok: got a topic for discussion.. Has your view on gender roles changed since having bubs??

I used to be very anti in acknowledging any differences in the genders, and was also very independent and worked long hours. Well I am certainly much more nurturing now. Just on the cusp of thinking about moving in with almost-DP and wondering about all these things. And why we as women get lumped with the cooking/shopping/cleaning. At the mo almost-DP does all of his on his own and I do all of mine and Hunters (okay well my Mum does a heap!!). But what happens when we live together, does it drop into stereotypical roles..? And is there anything wrong with this? If I was cleaning/cooking for anyone else I certainly wouldn't have time to do 'paying'work. :ecomcity: Just thought it might be something we're thinking about.

Karrina - Gorgeous photos of your two littlies. We do have a photo thread especially for our Jan bubs, but I don't mind looking at them here too lol. Maybe you should post them in the other thread too for everyone else to see?

Charis - Re gender roles, I am on my second marriage and with my first DH I did everything, all the cooking, cleaning and even ironed his shirts for work etc. After we got divorced I vowed never to iron another man's shirts again - and I don't!!
My DH does quite a bit around the place, especially now that we have bubs. But he also works long hours so there is only so much he can do. I actually prefer him to look after Reece in the evenings (rather than doing things) so I can go and cook a meal or spend some time to myself. The little break from the baby care is important to me, even if it means that I do more of the household chores. The good thing is that we do share the care of R, rather than me doing it all and we also share the running of the house although I do more of it due to being at home more. I'm happy with the way things are. If I was you, I would set a few ground rules before moving in with your DP so you both know where you stand :)

I walked down to the shops earlier and as I was going through the checkout in Coles the checkout girl was commenting on what a cute baby he is etc. Just as she was cooing over him he did a huge projectile spew! It went all over my shopping, his blanket and the pram. I was so embarrassed. The look on R's face was sheer horror and it even came out of his nose, poor thing. I took him to the toilets and cleaned him up before we headed home, then he went to sleep straight after. I think I should cut his feeds back to 150mls now as 180mls must be too much and he skulled the last bottle in about 10 mins flat!!

Oh behind again for me. Not always easy to keep up, I've read the last couple of pages from here and the previous thread but now I'm too buggered to do any responses so I'll just tell you how things are with us.

Ariane is doing wonderfully, sleeping has improved and she now seems to settle around 6.30-7pm and sleeps until 7am waking only once somewhere in there for a feed, sometimes it's around 11pm and sometimes it's around 4-5am but we are having great nights in general. Daytimes are pretty good too, when we are out she only tends to have one sleep cycle nap but at home will often sleep for 2-3 hours each nap time. She is so totally in love with her brothers and you'd think her head would twist off sometimes when she's looking for them and can hear their voices. We had a big family party on the weekend and she was passed around amongst 30+ relatives and she loved it and jsut whinged for a short minute before a nap and did it all again. He head control seems really good but she's not pushing up like my boys did at this age so I'm kinda hoping that means she won't be crawling as early as they were. They both got mobile with a commando crawl at 4 months and I'd like to move house and be totally unpacked and childsafe before she's mobile and since we are moving in 2 weeks and I know it will take us more than a month to unpack I'm hoping I'll have a decent window.

Time to go and get her bath ready.

hi everyone,

I was interested to read about gender roles Hels and Charis.... I think our roles have naturally laid themselves out now - despite a bumpy beginning. it's just natural that I do most of the baby stuff. It's not that DH doesn't want to - in fact, he can't wait to get home and care for her and he loves housework (I know - what kind of crazy man is this). DH said that sometimes he hates going to work and leaving his girls behind, the same way that sometimes I hate him going to work and me staying at home! But I don't think we'd change it... it's too natural and easy however anti-feminism it is!! (This is sacrilege coming from a girls-school educated person!)

mim - what a nightmare MIL. It's good that someone else has awful stories. I can't believe that she'd undermine you like that.

Speaking of MIL's and also baby rice.. mine is pressuring me to give baby rice to Caitlin to make her sleep longer (altho she is sleeping 7 hours which I dont think I can complain about)... I read you were supposed to wait til 6 months... what's everyone's thoughts on this? Do you know I am being adamant that I wait longer for Caitlin to have the baby rice and I think it's more that I don't want to go along with MIL rather than me having any preconceived ideas or anything....

mamabear - that's so cute about Ariane and her brothers! crawling at 4 months!! That's crazy - I can't imagine Caitlin even being close to that.. I'm amazed at how quickly babies develop...

Charis - great about the swim!! You had Hunter at KEMH didn't you?? (Well i thought you did..) Can you just rock up to the Mercy one??

Better go off and do my housewifely duties!

Karrina
02-04-2007, 06:11 PM
Hels - poor little Reece with the :barf: bet that girl changed her mind about how cute babies are and fast, it's amazing their little faces of shock!

Sammy G's Mum yep the photobucket worked, what a beautiful boy Ben is.

Charis - Imani's eyelashes were assisted with some mascara! On the topic of gender roles, I am pretty lucky that my DH helps out and cooks, washes dishes and assists with the washing, he also does the floors. I always cop the bathroom and toilet though! and many outside duties/repairs (pretty odd in some cases), the upkeep of the pool. DH generally mows the lawns. The bill paying and finances are totally in my hands as well as the care of the baby (he does change nappies), although DH spends alot of time playing and entertaining DD. So ours is a bit unconventional. I refuse to iron his shirts - so that one is definately his:laughing:

Sugar - thanks for the compliments we think they are pretty beautiful too!:p Of course we are biased

I just entered Billy into the bubhub photo comp - theme is Easter:thumbsup:

WOW it has been a while since i have posted. Not much has changed here. We had a few nights of Matthew sleeping about 8hrs. Now we, or should i say me, are back to getting up at 2 than 4. Sometimes i don't know whether he is actually hungry or not, but it just seems easier to give him a quick feed and he is back asleep, than to stand in his room rocking him and trying to stay awake.

I am hoping that Matt isn't getting a cold, he was quite snuffly this arvo so out with the fess drops. I think it is this crazy weather, hot during the day then getting cool at nights.

Brizzie girls can't wait for the catch up Wednesday hope to see everyone there.

Sorry no personals i just couldn't keep up with everyone.

Stay well everyone

Hi!:yelclap:
I'lll txt BrisMummy about the Bris meet-up, she might still be reading this thread . I know the super christening of Lily is soon. Be great for you all to meet up.

Babyswim, was FUN! Yes I birthed at KEMH Cordelia, Mercy is open to anyone, its $18 and refundable with HBF, if only I had it! 45mins of aquaaerobics and 15minsH swimming was worth it, but not every week. You need to call for their babyswim class to book.

On gender roles, I wasn't being judgemental, just have been thinking a lot about them! It surprises me but I reckon I wouldn't be unhappy ironing if it meant almost-DP looked after his son while I was doing it. Yes probably what women discovered a few thousand yrs ago, just getting it now.

OH Yes I remembered the real reason to post.. COLES TROLLEY debarcle. Does anyone else have to PAY for their trolleys! I try not to take H shopping, but had to, so go inside the shops carrying H, (not my usual, it was Coles Maylands!) to try one of those babyseat trolleys and EVERY trolley was locked up. With these $1 pay and retrieve devices. HMM. Of course if they make womens clothes without pockets, who carries change!! HMM Not happy will complain to Coles. Lost my custom at that shop.

On happier note..can we vote for Billy in the competition!? Karrina I-Rs eyelashes are beautiful augemented or not!:)

Karrina Your kids are just so gorgeous.

Charis Re gender roles - I now do all the housework (including ironing DH's shirts) and look after the little one. My DH works incredibly long hours - ie coming home at 8.00pm is an early night for him, and he usually has to do some work on one day of the weekend too. I am actually a very maternal person I think - as I really enjoy looking after both DH and DD. Before I had DD I worked similar hours to DH and the housework was probably split about 60 (me)/40 (him) and we sent his shirts out to be washed and ironed. I always did the cooking as I love it. It was bloody hard when we were both working - I can tell you that! Life is much easier for us both now that I am at home - despite having a newborn who still needs attention twice throughout the night! Good thing about my DH is that he is very appreciative - particualy with the cooking. He is a bit like the Dad from the Castle - even if I cook lamb chops and mash potato - he still raves about it. He also always makes nice comments when he comes home to a neat and tidy house. Anyway - as long as I am not taken for granted - I am happy.

Karrina...your kids are beautiful. Especially love the bath photo (something I've been meaning to do). I too wondered what has happened to drangonfly lately.
Charis...DH originally helped with housework, cooking and shopping when we first moved in together (10 years ago), but that soon changed when we moved into our house. He now does the outside and maintenance stuff (when he's home) and I do the indoors stuff. If I want help with the cooking, we have a BBQ (Some weeks we have lots:laughing: ). As for helping with TJ, he more hinders than helps, though he doesn't realise this. Cool CHic was supposed to come to our meet, but got her days mixed up. WI chat with her in the partners working away thread.
Hels...Yah for a big sleep, hope it continues. LOL at the :barf: .
Cheeki....TJ has been bathing in the big bath with DD1 since 6 weeks. I found it too much of a hassle running two baths when TJ is only in it for a minute or two.

Inlaws...:hugs: to those having problems.
Farax....yep, TJ has started. Cordelia, the new thoughts are babies don't need it until 6 months. I started it because TJ hasn't been having a full bottle (still stuffing around) and as a result wasn't sleeping long at night. She only has half a teaspoon (mixed) before bed and seems to be helping with longer sleeps (8.30 to 4.45 last night). It's a personal thing, so don't let anyone talk you into starting solids if you're not comfortable with it.

Have had some better days lately. TJ is sleeping better during the day again and DD1 isn't being so contankerous (Sp?).

Have a great day!

Hi ladies - lots to catch up on.
Hels - Totally agree with getting some fresh air in the arvo. I ususally sit outside with Kelsey while DS plays and the breeze is enough to send her to sleep!
Cheeki - Wow you sound like you are doing great with your two and still keeping up with other kids. Can't believe you are so organised to be out the door by 8am!!
Cat - Sorry to hear about your wrapping/sleep dramas with Cameron. I stopped wrapping Kelsey ages ago because she wouldn't go to sleep and would just wriggle around until her hands were out. Is he sleeping on his front/side? Kelsey sleeps on her tummy and I do a bit of patting as Charis suggested.
Karrina - I am a bit behind everyone but have to mention your photos of your GORGEOUS kids. They are both so adorable and your DD has beautiful eyes.
Charis - Regarding gender roles - I do most of the cooking/cleaning but DH helps out a fair bit. If he slacks off a bit I just have to ask and he will help with just about anything. He does alot with the kids - bathing and bedtimes when he is home so I am pretty lucky. I agree with Hels that sometimes DH's have to do the baby stuff so the mums can have 5 mins to ourselves. What I wouldn't give to have a hot relaxing bath and read my book!!! This morning I had to sing wiggles songs to keep DS occupied while I was in the shower!!
As for the coles trolleys - that is a disgrace! My local coles doesn't even have baby trolleys so I have to wait until DH can come and help. One of us pushes the pram and the other one pushes the trolley.
Cordelia - Everyone has different opinions regarding starting solids. I am going to wait until Kelsey is about 6 months. You will notice when Caitlin wants to start eating. I think Tabby mentioned it - she will take alot of interest in your food and you will notice that she seems like she wants some.

Kelsey is doing well. She seems to have the hang of self settling. It doesn't work all of the time but she has been really good. She is in her cot at night now and seems to love it. Yesterday she started sucking her thumb!! She has been chewing on her fist for ages but has finally worked out how to suck on her thumb. She looks so cute and it seems to have helped her to drift off to sleep.

Sorry for the marathon post but so much to cath up on. Take care!

Goodness, April has 4 pages already!!

I've had a virus ( i think) and ended up spending 8 hours waiting in emergency on saturday...fun NOT! I'm all ok now. Had severe headaches and fever, rang the healthline to see if it was ok if i took strong painkillers whilst bf and on antibiotics as panadol wasn't helping. She advised i go to gp. He sent me to hospital to get bloods, they were flat out and bloods never got done...by the end of the day headache as eased. If I had known i was going to spend 8 hours there, I would have just gone home to bed arrgh...at least I'm all better now :)

K had his shots yesterday, he was a bit out of sorts in the afternoon. I think the thigh that got 2 needles was a bit sore, poor bubba.

Re Gender Roles: DH does most of the big cleaning ie toilet, bathrooms, mopping, vacuuming. I do a tidy up every day and do all the cooking, we share the washing up. DH mostly does the after dinner dishes. He's very hands on with the kids. He changes nappies, baths them and gets handed K while he plays with Jenna as soon as he is home and showered so I can get dinner. I'm the same as Hels, I actually like getting dinner as it's a bit of me time (and DH can't cook to save himself  )

Sorry no personals, it took ages to catch up on the goss.

Cordelia: I have only introduced Katie to solids as it can help the reflux. Which it has.
If you feel its too soon and shes happy/your happy then do what you feel is right.

To start solids they say baby must have good head support when sitting to allow for swallowing and she will start taking an interest in your eating. also the tounge control, not pushing it straight back out. Katie was doing all of the above so I figure why not if will help her reflux
she has taken to it like an old pro!
6 months is the recommended as they say the digestive system is more ready and less chance of allergies.
On the subject of farex in bottle to sleep, I did use that for ds1 @ 4 months as he was such a hungry baby and it helped him sleep better yes, but thats not always the case.

am totally shattered from this last week! So sorry too tired more personals
As said before she wakes constantly through the night and now the last two days the day naps!!! but wake times shes happy happy happy, its just when she sleeps! I just cant figure it out.....

Got to be teething.... the dribble amount is huge and she cant get enough of chewing things, and she seems fine when awake, they say sleep can be unsettled when teething..I dont know to be honest lol
wow sure hope this doesnt go on for weeks/months,
as now dp is back work there isnt anyone to watch her while I get a few zzz's :(

will try catch up later

tabby - totally with you re: sleeping. i spoke to MCH nurse today and she reassured me that she hears this from so many mums, they were sleeping well and then go back to like newborn waking again. MCH assures me that it is just another stage and he will go back to 'normal'.
in regards to solids, tried Geoffrey on cereal y'day and he hated it, cried and spat out, clearly not ready, thought it might help him sleep through the night...oh well, just have to get up and feed him, he just feeds and goes back to sleep, so can't really complain!!

Hi ladies

I'm just logging on to make a commitment that I will make it to my first mummy/baby yoga and dance tomorrow. It's from 11.30 to 1pm and the last 2 weeks I've made excuses. A bit nervous about it in case all the other bubs are angels and Cameron plays up even though I know that would be expected in a class that includes babies. Also nervous as the class includes singing to bubs.....lets just say if I tried out for Australian Idol I would feature on the 'worst of'

Charis, thanks for sharing your dummy experience. Have been holding out but might have to give it a try. Anything that makes nap time easier would be fantastic :fingerscrossed: Today he only slept a total of 2.5 hours between 6am and 7pm. Unless sleeping at the breast while feeding counts?????? That would add an extra hour or two!

Flicka, Cameron sleeps on his back. Hates tummy so I really haven't been pushing it and haven't really tried side. Silly question but how do you get them to lie on their side? With supports?

Gender roles - before bubs I was working FT too and household chores were prety much 50/50 (if you include the outdoor stuff that DH mostly does). DH even used to do all his own washing but lucky me gets to do that now. We always said I'd take on a bigger role once I became a SAHM which is fine with me so long as he helps with bub when he is home and isn't just sitting with feet up on the couch and willing to give a hand when needed. Not that he will be much use to me when he is out of action for 6 weeks after an ankle reconstruction - got his MRI results back today and has snapped 2 of the ligaments with the 3rd only hanging on by a thread...poor DH.

Update on Cameron - just fell asleep on his own in his cot (wrapped but arms out) after about 45mins of babbling/grizzling/intermittent crying :yelclap: . Would normally have tried to settle him after one of the louder cries but we left him as he wasn't actually sobbing or screaming, just letting out the odd yell for a few seconds. Going in to him seems to make him more alert and want to play so he gets even more upset when we try to settle him.

Fingers crossed he manages to stay asleep.....

Re solids - I'm not starting them yet but I'm interested in the farex in the night time bottle, is it just to thicken it up? I presume it's a cereal type thing? (sorry for the ignorance).

Jenko - I hope you are feeling better, how awful to have such a bad headache and fever that it lands you at the hospital (I can relate to that  )

I ventured out to the local Westfield shopping centre today and I spent far too much money lol. Reece was an angel all day, he loves his new pusher as he can see me all the time (he faces me). He smiles at me constantly, it's so cute! I was able to do everything I wanted such as browsing the stores, stopped for lunch and then later for a coffee. I fed/changed him in the parents rooms where I had a chat to another mum in there who's bub was 3 days younger than R. This was my first trip to the big shopping centre with R by myself and I'll definitely do it again.
I also bought myself some new jeans, tops and boots. I am fed up with still wearing my maternity jeans, so I figured these would do until I fit in my original clothes again (if ever!!)

The last 2 nights I have been able to cook a proper dinner. I feed R around 6pm and then he goes in his pusher in the kitchen and watches me prepare dinner. He's happy as long as I talk or sing to him. Tonight I sang my own version of "there's a hole in my bucket" which lasted for half an hour  It put him to sleep in the end

Hels: Yep its a cereal. Most commonly used as a first solid but also can be added to the bottle for a more filling feed.
Youll find it at most supermarkets with the baby food and says 4 months + on the front. Theres also follow on ones with fruit etc for 6 months up.
Katie had hers tonight ( about 3 tspns )and boy did she LOVE it! must be tastier than it looks lol
Sounds like you had a wonderful day out! mmm retail therapy...cannot wait for payday lol

Katie has been gnawing at her hand all arvo and getting quite cranky so think I was right with the teeth.
No late arvo nap so shes finally crashed in the pram, not even wrapped, a first for her, she must be tired!

I have a cheque to deposit but cannot be bothered taxi'ing to work for the car so if K sleeps better tonight I might throw on the sling and jump on the bus tomorrow.

Cate - Sorry I can’t make it to the brissy meet up. Its abit to far for me as I live out near the RAAF Base . Hoping to get to one of them one day.

Charis – I’m the same as hels, I’m on my second marriage also and I did everything for my 1st hubby. So this time round I refused to do everything. Hubby is a shift worker so I don’t expect him to do a lot of things but he does help out when he can. I don’t iron hubby’s cams (I never do it right) so I let him do that. DH would rather look after Talon then do any housework, which is cool with me as I’m fussy when it comes to cleaning lol. Must have got that from my mum lol.

Karrina – The photo of your kiddies are gorgeous.

Cat13 – Talon is completely opposite to Cameron lol. T hates sleeping on his back. He has from day 1. I used to put him on his side with a rolled up towel behind him. T LOVES sleeping on his tummy now.

Someone asked it anyone has heard from Dragonflyblu! Well she was on bubhub this afternoon in the immunization Issue thread. They are moving to Germany. If you are reading this Dragonflyblu all the best on your move :hugs: .

Cheers

Hels don't you just love the songs you come up with!! We did row row row your boat for about half an hour yesterday with everyone being kicked overboard incuding the dog and the cat!!!!! It's great to be a kid again!

Gender Roles when i was working we were pretty evenly split with housework....DH still does most of the washing but I am now doing the ironing which I hate!!!! I used to pay someone when I was working but not anymore! We do a lot of cooking together....or I'll start cooking and then DH will finish while I'm feeding or bathing. On the evenings I go to the gym DH does bath and pjs and feeds. He does one or two feeds in the afternoon/evening depending on what time he gets home. I probably do a little more than him now I'm home but the house is also nowhere near as clean!!! When i go back to work I've said that we have to get a cleaner for a couple of hours a week....I'm not spending my weekends cleaning, like I used to before DD!!

We should try and make a big brisbane meetup somewhere central and all make the trek!!

Karrina...love the photo, you got my vote. Will be a great photo to bring out at Billy's 21st.
Tabby...hope you got a better sleep last night.

Had an ok night with TJ last night. She had a 6 hour then a 4 hour sleep. Don't know why some nights she sleeps huge hours then next the night is divided. :fingerscrossed: she's not another DD1, who woke up twice last night.

Have a great day, we're off shopping. Target have 20% off their kids clothes.

Jacstar - Wow that's an awesome sleep, lucky you! I can't wait for that day to come here. R did 5 hours and then 3 hours last night. I agree with Mouse, strange how some times it goes longer and then back to shorter again.

Well I think I'm addicted to shopping centres as I love taking him to them  . We are off to the local S/C this arvo. I suppose the fact that I need to replace my whole wardrobe (due to the extra weight gain of late) doesn't help matters. Our bank account is looking a bit sad though so I'd better find some different places to go. I feel like I want to go out with R everyday though. I get up each morning and look forward to getting the both of us ready to go out somewhere.
It's strange because I used to be such a house hermit  .

Re: Nursery rhymes - can someone pleeeeeaaaaaassssssseeeeeee remind me of the words to twinkle twinkle.. it's driving me bananas. i nkow there's a like a diamond in the sky bit but what's the other one?!?!?

I love going shopping to Hels :P It's just great to see other people and feel like I'm doing something!!

I'm starting up a bit of a business playing music at functions - weddings, funerals etc. so it's been fun making my business cards and mailing and advertising this week.. feeling good about it.

Caitlin's gradually stretched her sleeps out again - so last night we got..... TEN HOURS.. and then I unwrapped her so she'd slowly wake up so who knows how long she would have gone on for.

Caitlin's definitely been trying to sit herself up the past couple of days.. i read that they start at around 4 months.. (btw it's really nothing - just her trying to pull her head and shoulder's up when she's sitting back on me) her head control is amazing now so it's very exciting! It says they roll over at the same time but seeing as she detests tummy time I can't see this happening.

Our babies are certainly growing up!! (Can you believe it's coming up to a year ago I think that we all discovered we were pregnant and started our Due in January thread!! - Ridiculous) In fact Caitlin was conceived a year ago in the next fortnight.. I can't remember and too tired to work it out!!

M ousebrown - I am sure Billy will be impressed with that photo on his 18th NOT, can you imagine all the boys having a good old laugh  He would never live it down.

Cordelia - I have noticed Billy trying to sit (sort of too) the other day I had him on the mat and sat him up, I let go and he actually balanced in a sitting position for a few seconds.

Hels - yep I agree getting out of the house is great - apart from the damage to the hip pocket:no: . Unfortunately I only have around 2 hours each day for purposes such as shopping (while Imani-Rose is at pre-school). There isn't enough time in the day! and to take both of them - stress. I do feel like I have become a 'bargain hunter' though as I spend the time browsing around comparing whereas in the past I never had the time to browse - motto was straight in and out when I was working fulltime.

Lucky all you mums with sleeping babies - Billy still wakes every 3 hours for a feed and feeds every 2 hours during the day:eek: He is really turning into a porker

Hi everyone:wave:

I haven't posted in a month or so. I ended up in hospital with Cooper for 4 nights a couple of weeks back, he's ok now, just had to be on IV antibods for a few days.

It's interesting to see how everyone's bubs are sleeping, Coop's still not sleeping through:thumbsdown: Normally still wakes at 2 and then about 5. Occassionally he'll go right to 4 which is great.

Ok, so here's how I think the song goes...

Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky. Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are.

Well that's how my kiddies get it anyway:D

Oh I emailed huggies and asked why no box of infants available and got this reply

Unfortunately we don't make bulk packs or boxes for the Huggies® Infant and Junior sizes at the moment. The reason for this is that children are generally in these two sizes for short periods of time. Parents don't want to buy very large quantities because their child may outgrow them before the pack is finished and some nappies would be wasted.
Having said this, our Jumbo box in the Crawler size is relatively new. We launched this size in 2003 after lots of request from parents for a larger pack of this very popular size. We would of course consider launching larger size packs or boxes in the Infant or Junior size in the future if parents tell us this is what they need.

They are available via home delivery services..

I would have thought that most average sized babies would grow out of the Newborn size more quickly than the Infant size.

Maybe we should all email Huggies to get our point across :)

I happen to agree with Huggies about the infant size nappies. R is growing so fast now that he won't be in them for long. We're on our third packet and when they are gone it's into the crawlers for us. I would have only needed to buy 1 box of infant size (if they made them), where as we went through about 3 or 4 boxes of newborns.

Question; how much formula does everyone's bub drink per feed? Reece is almost 10 weeks and he is now on 180mls and has about 5-6 feeds a day. Does this sound normal? I think he's a guts as he skulls it in about 10 mins flat  . I have to take the bottle off him a couple of times to slow him down, which he hates.

Tabby
04-04-2007, 08:07 PM
Katies ranges from 100 to 150mls. I always make 150 but most times she leaves 10-20mls.
Day time she feeds mostly every 3 hrs. If she goes 4 hrs she has the full 150.
edited to add : Shes always had less than the average ( about a month behind ) suppose that because prem and shes tiny.

By the way, Reece has screamed the house down the last 2 days in his bath seat. But as soon as I get out of the bath he stops. Tomorrow I am going to shower him in it, at least that's quicker. I am a bit disappointed but maybe he is too young for it. I might go back to bathing him in his baby bath for a while. Let me know how Katies gets on with her bath seat.

Hi there girls,

I feel really bad, I haven't been on here for months. Have read the april thread, but think it would take me days (or even weeks) to catch up on all the other threads!!

Hope you are all going well, it sounds like everyone is coping OK??? Trent wakes once during the night for a feed(which is ok,coz otherwise I would have to express anyway) and is a pretty good sleeper. We have a few issues with his 30 min "catnaps" during the day, but I can't complain coz I get a good nights sleep.

Have been busy with our new house-trying to get it finished a bit more, and have had a few weddings to do with my catering business.
I think of you guys all the time, and feel guilty for not getting on here, I think I have time management issues!!

Will try to get on more regularly (I know I said that last time!!!) It seems just a distant memeory of being pg. Number 2 is already being planned, were going to start in May, but I pushed it back to July. May is just a bit too soon to put my body through that all again!:)

Will chat to you all soon, have missed you guys!!:crying:

Take care,

Love Lou.

Have a great day everyone :)

Hi all, just a quick post before we head off on our first holiday with Audrey....I'm frantically trying to remember if I have everything....ah things were so easier with just two!!!

Glad to hear some more bubbas are sleeping through...that's when I started to feel really normal again...except that I can't fit into the jeans I tried on today to take away with us.....I refuse to buy some because I won't be needing jeans in Brisbane for a few more months yet!

Hels....I missed the post about the bath seat.....Aud just loves the bath lying down and lately I've been sitting her up but it so slippery to manage it.

LukeandMattsmum...great time yesterday (and Nina from Feb) hope you got out of Target unscathed!

Twinkle Twinkle and lots of other rhymes are in a free book/dvd you can get from local libraries with a voucher from Courier Mail (not sure about other states). My mum also passed on all her books - great one from Nursing Mums called Merrily, Merrily....don't know if they still do it - you could probably check on the website. I also have heaps from being a music teacher so Audrey is happily "singing" along with lots!

I agree with Huggies about the Infants...we moved into them at about 4.5kgs and have only used 3 packets...she now is ok in crawlers and she's 5.7kg....

Hope you all have a great easter break! Don't eat too many of those delicious chocolate eggies!

Hi everyone, sorry i have been quiet for so long. I find myself reading a bit of the thread every few days, then before I get a chance to respond Clea wakes up, and she hates me working in the computer room. Also, this thread moves so fast!

We are well. Clea is great. She has discovered her voice and is starting to yell out. It is really cute, she gets frustrated with us and gives a big noise (like umph!) She is also starting to cry when she gets overtired. One moment she is happy the next she squeels and then sobs. It breaks my heart to see her pout and then screw up her face and then sob. Luckily she usually stops when we pick her up and then promptly falls asleep. Apart from some nights were we need to rock her to sleep and play the white noise CD...

Clea has had a bit oif a gummy eye that she was born with, doctors kept saying its all fine and to just keep rinsing it with saline and putting booby milk in it, but she has started rubbing it and i thought it looked sore, poor little thing. So I took her to a homeopath the other day and the eye has almost cleared up! It was her first bit of "medicine" and water since the treatment is delivered in water. We dont vaccinate and she hasnt had any reflux ewtc etc. so apart from booby she hasnt had anything else before (oh maybe some bath water:laughing: ) She pulled a very cute face when I put the spoon in her mouth.

She has also started rolling, and yesterday she did a belly crawl, then her arms got all tangled under her and she did a big frustrated cry.

Well I have been really busy as we are moving to Germany! DH has been offered a job in a town in souther Germany. DH is an artist and the job is doing concept drawings for game development, which is what he has been doing for the past 2 years. We are really excited, it is a medieval town of about 80 000 people, and we dont speak German! We will probably be there for 18months to 2 years, so Clea might speak a bit of German! So much to organise.... aaaahhhh

Really excited about it. DH is going over in first week of June and I will follow 2 months later. DH has his grandparents, uncles, cousins in Slovakia, not far away, so we will get to see his family more.

Now back to catching up on this thread before Clea wakes up.

Oh wow Dragonflyblu - can't believe you are having such a big move. there must be so much to take/organise for Clea. Goodluck and best of all you can keep in touch with all of us on here!!!
Hels - Have been wondering how you are going the last couple of days. Don't mean to pry but wondering how everything is "down there". Hope it all healed quickly!!
j'dore - sorry to hear about little Cooper. Hope everything is ok now. Nothing worse than your kids being in hosp and especially since you have other kids to worry about too!
Tabby - Was thinking about those little shoes you are looking for. I saw some in a baby shop that specialised in christening gowns etc. You might find some online - have you tried ebay?

Speaking of christenings/naming ceremonies.....Is anyone planning one for your bub?
Kelsey is getting christened at the end of June as my parents will be back for a visit. Only trouble is DH wants his brother and one of his sisters as godparents but I feel like that is a bit unfair as I want to choose someone special to me. We had DH's sister and his best mate and my brother for DS so I kinda feel like he got to choose 2 people for DS. I think it is only fair I get to choose 2 people for Kelsey. I shouldn't complain though as DH had no say in naming Kelsey as he missed the birth by a few minutes and I had already decided on a name when he arrived!!!

Best wishes for a great easter ladies. Hope you all indulge in some easter eggs (I will). Have a safe trip to anyone who will be out on the road and I will catch the rest of you home-bodies over the long weekend.

very quiet here this morning
everyone preparing for easter or holidays?

dflyblue: yay nice to hear from you again
katie does the same as Clea with the voice, I left her outside bigW while I nipped in, came back to cashier and heard her yelling from there. thought at first she was complaining but nope she was only using her voice, be it very loudly
WOW Germany! How exciting to be able to do that.
Hope youll still bubhub from there and tell us all about it:thumbsup:

cate: Have a wonderful holiday and a happy easter, hope it all goes smoothly for you.

I agree the infants, was thinking yesterday that Katie wont be in them all that long...
Ive been very slack of late, using more disposables than cloth lol.

ahhhh $ well spent the p-cot! Shes back in there again and sound asleep no hassles/no complaints. I think she likes the fact she can hear and see me so just nods off happily.

thing is shes spent so much time there this morning Im taking advantage of it and been on bh and other things lol. pooey to the housework, it will still be there later. Havnt been totaly lazy, have done washing/drying/vac etc.
Oh dp is catching the bus a few times a week, means I have a car at my disposal, would love a Perth meet again soon, anyone????

x posted you Flicka

Yer I had actually said to mum " well they must make them for christening outfits surely" Will maybe try to find a specialty store here like youve seen. or online if comes to that
Nope no christening etc here. None of our side has, DP's side does, DP wont care either way and hasnt cropped up with mil yet but she will get told sorry but nope, Just because K is different father to the boys I dont want her/the boys to be treated any differently. Does that makes sense???

Yep we are homebodies this easter.
Sunday with the familys here for lunch is all.
and yes those of you traveling: Safe journey and a happy easter!

Great to hear from you dragonflyblu. Good luck in Germany. Although I've only been for short visits (Oktoberfest), the scenery and architecture is beautiful. You'll have to let us know how you're going once you settle in.

Nappies...got TJ weighed this morning, she's now just under 6kg. Which means the Infant nappies should be fine, but I've been thinking they are getting too small. Anyone else find bub's size doesn't seem to match what's on the nappies?

Sorry, no personals today, TJ's on my lap and making it hard.

We're off to mum's for a couple of nights. If I don't get back on before Sunday, hope everyone has a great Easter:wave: !

Hi - just wondering how often you all get your babies weighed? Do you all go to your local clinics to get it done? I must be a bad mum - as I just can't be bothered, the last time she was weighed was at her 6 - 8 week check up. I know she is growing by her clothes - and that does me. But am wondering whether I need to make the effort - do you think I need to know specifics?

Hi everyone,

had a bad bad night last night with caitlin - she hasn't pooed since last thursday and we got the "poonami" arrived this mornign so I think that's why but inlaws are arriving today and just so tired. Spent the morning cleaning up and feeling really resentful and have all these conversations going thru my mind about how I'm going to abuse MIL if anything comes up.. which is just making it worse!!! My sister has invited me for lunch so I'm about to leave and i'll try and loosen up so i don't explode when they appear on the doorstep.

j'adore - hope cooper is feeling better.

mousebrown - i found that infant nappies were fitting caitlin well (a bit big) at 3.5 kgs and now that she's 4.5 they're perfect. So i'm hoping to go on to crawler's earlier just because of the savings in price. (PS thanx for the PM we would LOVE the 00's too ;) )

dragonfly - so cute about clea's progress! hope your preparations are going well... keep us updated!

bubsone: hope you're taking some time out for yourself! It sounds like you're really busy - and yuo're thinking about no. 2 so soon!!

oh man! She woke up after about 20 minutes.. i'm over these sily little naps she has.. she's sooo demanding in between them.. oh well.. we'll keep plodding along!

Edit: Ellembee: There's no reason to get bubs weighed unless you're worried I reckon.. So long as they look healthy, are growing bigger and having alert times don't bother! As for me, I'm completely obsessed but that's becuse Caitlin is so much smaller anyway - it would probably be better for me to forget about it completely and trust my instincts

thanks Cordelia. Alert time - oh yes -like you, we seem to have 30 minute cat naps during the day and lots of awake time. yesterday afternoon she slept for three hours (I also fell asleep) and when I woke up - i went running into her room screaming her name and picked her up (I thought she was dead) - she opened her eyes and looked at me like I was nuts (lol) - but am just not used to her having such long sleeps during the day.

Ellembee.
I hate my local clinic, dont like the sister there so now I just go the local chemist at the forum if they are there when I am
Every wed they have a sister there to weigh and measure. So much easier to just call in while out shopping :D Most shopping centers have one
I only do it out of curiosity and as she was/is so small. Like Cordelia says if things are fine then theres no need really.

Cordelia: Hope you enjoy your lunch out and brings you some calm for the inl's :hugs:

Mouse: have fun at mums and a happy easter to you to.

tabby - what is it about clinic sisters? i hated mine too. i think thats why i have a thing about weigh ins - clinic nurses seem to make such a fuss about things. sometimes i wonder whether you should have kids of your own first before you qualify to be one of those nurses. Good tip about the chemist - i will check out the one up the street and see when the nurse is there. just put her down, so i am going to have a snooze too. fingers crossed it is like the 3 hour late afternoon snooze we had yesterday!

Darnit I lost my post when I got distracted with bloody centrelink. GRrrrr it's not my day.
Rant over and I'll try to remember what I said in the post I lost

Tabby I saw shoes like that in Best and Less this morning and had to stop myself from buying some. They were only $7.99.

Huggies I don't use them, we use bamboo baby beehinds and it's wonderful not having that ongoing ezpense of nappies, it's well worth the 10 minutes every second day it takes to hang some nappies on the line.

Clinic. I'm going to go once a month I think. I've got a great clinic nurse this time. But I hated going with my boys it seemed it was just too much advise and so contradictory to what I was getting from every man and their dog half the time too. I got so confused with what to follow and just went with my instincts in the end.

Farex. I wouldn't even contemplate it at this age. Ariane is only 10 weeks and I won't be introducing it until around 6 months. It's basically empty calories at this age as there is far more nutrition packed into breastmilk or formula compared to the volume in solids. I remember hearing about research into the long term effects of early introduction to solids and there were links to kidney and bowel problems in later life. I'm not going to risk that sort of stuff on my kids just because I can't see an immediate problem for them. When my boys did start farex I didn't see it make any difference to their sleeping anyway and with my first I still complained about his lack of sleep and with my second he seemed more irritable when he started solids than before he had any.

mammabearof3 I love BBH bamboo. I have some hemp ones too but they are a bit rough for her soft skin so these might be put aside till she grows or until we get a dryer.

I'm not doing weigh-ins either or the 3 month check-up. Whats the point, the clinic dont really tell me anything and if there was a problem I would know. I did do a self weigh today and she is 6.5 with a nappy on.

cordelia I know how you feel. Clea was having cat naps and I felt like everytime I sat down she woke up. But she has settled again into sleeps. Take a deep breath and plod on:thumbsup:

My MIL is coming to stay next week. maybe I can get a bit of sleep now that Clea doesnt need booby as often.

We are having a naming day on 12th may. Now I am just looking for a pretty dress that is not summer and not a christening dress and not $300! Went to some nide designer baby shops and found some really nice dresses but they are all for summer.

Dragonflyblu - Nice to hear from you again, glad all is well with you and Clea. I hope the move to Germany goes smoothly, please keep in touch if you can.

Flicka - I am healing up quite well, thanks for thinking of me. It will take about 6 weeks to return to some kind of normal though, but I am able to walk around alot now. I was sitting in a coffee shop this arvo and suddenly realised that I was crossing my legs for the first time in about 6 months! It's amazing what we take for granted sometimes.

Ellembee - I weigh R at home, we have some good scales and I get on and weigh myself first, then I get on with R. Today he is 5.4kg at 10 weeks.

Us - Reece had his final needle today so he has had 3 all up. He was asleep until the needle went in and then he screamed the place down. He was fine afterwards though. We went to the shopping centre this arvo (again) so I could get a haircut, I haven't done anything with my hair for about 12 months  I feel alot better now and R was an angel and slept the whole time I was in the salon.

Easter - We are going out every second day and will spend the other 2 days cleaning and doing the gardens. I also have some bookwork to do so it will be great having DH home for 4 days as he can look after R whilst I get things done. On Monday we are going to the Home Ideas show which is on in the City, we like browsing around these sorts of shows and I am happy to go out anywhere and walk with R in the pram :D

Happy Easter to everyone. Feels like we were only just saying Merry Christmas!!

Hi everyone,

Long time, no post! Had problems with my pc from Oct - Dec and couldn't get on and have only now found the time to hop back on! Can't believe how much I've missed browsing BH!

I've had a quick browse of the April thread but I think I will need a bit more time to catch up on the previous ones! Looks like there are a lot of very cute bubbas!

Well our little man Cooper arrived on 5/1/07 by caesar (planned) at RBWH at 8.39am. He went straight to ICU because he had the heart problem which we found out about at the 20week scan. He spent 2 days in ICU and then 2 days in Special Care before he was transferred over to Prince Charles Hospital (heart hospital). He had open heart surgery on the 17/1/07 and then we got him home on 26/1/07! (so Hels that date is special to us too:) )

He has been going great considering what he's been through (I'll post a photo of him taken after his op but be warned it is pretty shocking!) He was weighed yesterday and at 12w5d was 5.86kg and 62.6cm long which is pretty good. I'm bf which I'm pretty chuffed about considering my mum and mil both didn't bf for long (1month approx).

He isn't sleeping through the night yet (can't wait until he does) although he has had a couple of long stretches before. Longest was 8.00pm - 4.20am and last night was a shocker cause I was up every 2 hours! I'm definately going to bed after this post! He is also being painful during the day at the moment - doesn't want to sleep but is so tired so just cries and gets all worked up! He is very spoilt and doesn't self settle which means I always have him in my arms (muscles here I come!).

Anyways I think I've blabbed on long enough and will try and do personals tomorrow when I've hopefully had some more sleep :fingerscrossed:

Here are some pics:

While in hospy waiting for surgery - asleep on Dad's chest:

I don't have any more recent than that - will have to do something about that in my spare time - haha I'm so funny!

Anyways I definately need some sleep if I'm laughing at my own jokes!

Catch you all later, Shaz :-)

Happy, happy Easter everyone! Enjoy the chocs!

DragonFlyBlu - Nice to hear from you again, hope you stay on Bubhub in Germany!

Shazza - I am so happy that everyone went well with little Cooper, poor little thing. It is amazing how resilient they are? Would have been very hard on you all going through all of that, I can't imagine how scary it was

I just got to say, I am so in love with my little Billy I could just bite him! I think being a mother gets a bit easier with the second one, thinking of a third? Just got to convince DH on that one, he has 3 children now (an 18 year old from a previous relationship) and thinks he is getting a bit old for all of this - he is 42 and I will be turning 34 on the 16th of this month, so there is a bit of time for me - maybe I need to shack up with a younger man:laughing:

Shazza: WOW so happy things worked out well, how hard that must have been for you :hugs:
Cooper is ADORABLE too by the way
Welcome Back!!!!

Well Katie has been an absolute angel today, back to her old self the last two days.
and Karrina, totally feel that way too with Katie
I just cant get enough of her!
Sometimes I need to pinch myself to make sure its real...To be so blessed to have the chance to have 2 more wonderful ppl in my life, dp and dd ( along with my two adorable sons ) who love me as much as I love them.
I feel so complete now. It may have taken me longer than most to find my way but I got there eventually! lol

oh that was rather soppy, No idea why or where that came from LOL

Hels: I bathed Katie in her own bath with the seat and OH MY, she LOVED it! she must have felt more secure than the arm round the neck/shoulder thing. She was more than happy to stay in it too, rather than trying to sit up as usual. She kicked and splashed water everywhere ahhahha
In the big bath was a killer on my back..so will wait a bit longer for that again

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

Also a big HAPPY EASTER to all. Hope everyone gets a bit of rest as most will have DP's or DH's home. I am hoping to get a break from my three.:fingerscrossed: I love them dearly but but 3 under 3 1/2 can be tiring at times. Catch up again after the break. ENJOY.

Shazza - Great to see you back on BH and sorry to hear of all you had to go through with little Cooper :hugs: . The photos are lovely (he is a real cutie) and it's great that he is at home with you and doing so well now.

Tabby - That's good that K likes her bath seat, R still screams in his. Infact he has now started to scream as soon as he goes in it before the water even touches him. I have started to showering him with a hose attachment on the taps as it's alot quicker. I even put a small heater in the bathroom first today to make it really warm, but that didn't help.
I'm wondering if I should persevere with it in the hope that he comes around, or will he end up with a real fear of bathing? I'm not sure if I should go back to using his baby bath because he used to enjoy that and only cried when I took him out. Although doing it with the bath seat is so much easier for me. Anyone have any advice?

Tabby
06-04-2007, 12:30 PM
not sure Hels, it maybe just a security thing and he feels safer in the baby bath, katie looked a bit scared too in the big one, she got over it but never looked like she felt secure like she did in the baby bath last night she went nuts kicking.
she even had her hands out floating in the water when usually she has them fisted to her chest, so has made her feel real secure in the seat.
and I got very wet for the first time lol

Katie went from 830-530 then 730-10! and shes back in bed again and its 11.30 here.

Hels have you got a babybath on a stand and with a plug hose and shower attachment? I found mine really easy to use, it was on a frame with wheels. I would wheel it into the kitchen - use a hose/shower attachment and fill then when finished I would wheel it into the bathroom and put the hose that is attached to the baby bath in the big bath and let the plug out, the bath would empty itself!

Billy just had some nappy fre time while watching a video of Boohbah - which he loved. He managed to wee twice in about 15 minutes. I still can't get over the whole boy thing a weeing all over the place. Are they marking their territory, DD was not like that. But is seems whenever Billy has the opportunity to wee with the nappy off (including during changes) he TAKES IT!

 that's what we have, it's a nappy change table with the bath under the change mat. We fill it in the bathroom as our shower has a hose attatched. This is what he's used to so maybe I should go back to using this until he's bigger. I just found the bath seat in the big bath was more supportive as it gave me both hands free to wash him..

Will come back for more later if I get the time but Hels try putting the baby bath inside the big bath. I know it's more strain on your back but it's good to get them used to the transition of the big bath, after you've done that for a while try the bath seat without the baby bath.

It's a good thing to do with transition to a cot too, just place the bassinet inside the cot for several nights before using just the cot.

Very cute photos of Caitlin!

I can't put the baby bath inside our big bath as it is rounded at the bottom so it wouldn't sit properly. And the baby seat won't fit inside the baby bath due to the design *sigh*
I think we will try him in the baby bath tomorrow and see what happens.

Well today Reece has been a little $hit lol. He has winged all day, wouldn't feed properly and wouldn't sleep. It could be because of the needle he had yesterday and I know that panadol always upsets his tum.
I have given him some mylanta and he is sleeping in his pram at the moment, finally.
I hope I have my contented baby back soon :fingerscrossed:

Tabby - I took a tip from you as R woke at 4am last night so I put his dummy in and he went back to sleep until 6am :yelclap: .

Good evening ladies

HELS - I use a bath support for Matthew which allows your hands to be free. It is a simple wire frame with a bit of towling cover. You just put it in the bath and lie them on it . I use it in the big bath now but it also fitted in the baby bath. I think they are rather inexpensive from a baby shop. Just remembered i think mine is a infa brand.

If panadol makes reece sick, have you tried a natural pain relief or even infants friend can be settling for them. Just a thought.

CORDELIA - Such cute photos of caitlin. Goodluck with your IL's.

US - Matthew has hit the 6kg mark and boy do i feel it.:p He is also still waking in the middle of the night for a feed it can be anywhere from 1am to 3 am. Very frustrating. In the last week we have noticed that he wants alot of visual stimulation, he loves to just sit and chat to you, it is very cute, and frustrating at the same time as i get nothing done:rolleyes: He has also figured out how to blow bubbles. so lots of dribble happening.

CATE - it was great meeting last Wednesday and look forward to our next meet. This time it is my shout for the coffees. I realised after you left target that i didn't pay you for it. Sorry.

Kylie - Thanks for the tip about the bath support, I haven't seen them before so I will have a look.
Reece only had panadol after his needles, I try not to give it to him otherwise. Is there anything else for controlling temperatures?
When he is 6 months old I will switch over to Nurofen if he needs something. I am the same, panadol makes me sick too.

Reece also likes to be chatted to and stimulated alot. So I have him in his pusher during the day as he can face me in it. I take him in the kitchen with me whilst I prepare dinner and talk or sing to him the whole time. I also take him out to the washing line with me. He is fine so long as I keep chatting away lol

You can now get nurofen for babies from 3months of age or over 5kg. Check at you chemist. You could also try a natural pain relief like Braur's (spelling?) Hope this helps.

Also just checked bath support and it is not an infa brand it is IGC.

Hi girls.....

Cordelia, such adorable photos!!! I love the little ears!

Re bath supports- I have one of those net covered supports, but we are using the laundry trough(it is a nice big ceramic one), and I have to fill the trough to the top with water, to make sure the little guy is covered. We desperately need to get a baby bath. Can't use the big bath, coz we haven't done that bathroom yet....dramas:laughing: so, I haven't used the bath support yet! I have a plastic one also that SIL gave me but it looks cold and uncomfortable!-it sits more upright. Not sure what that one is like?

Sounds like I have the same problem as a few of you...Trent is only having cat naps also during the day-sometimes only 10 mins:eek: and the little terror wakes up so happy and refreshed! I am hoping it is a phase, he actually had a 3 hour sleep today, which was lovely as we were out to breakky with a group of friends, so I actually felt "normal" for a while.

Not much else at the mo.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter, have already eaten my share of chocky....

Take care,
Lou

Hi everyone.
I havent been on for ages. Thought i would just pop in and say hello. Its very cool to see all the new baby pics. All the little ones are growing up so fast! It feels like iot was only yesterday that we were all comparing tummy pics!

Well Tom is going really well. He is a very long baby, but i expected as much, both his dad and i are tall. He is very smily and i just love it when he coos at me! I swear that his cry sounds like mmmuuuuuuuuuuummmm! He is now sleeping from 7 or 8pm till 3am so its pretty exciting! I'm feeling a bit more human!

I hope everyone is going well. My phone is broken so getting on the net is tough.

Happy easter

I didn't know that nurofen was available from 3 months, hmmm, will have to look into that one too.

We bathed R in his baby bath today and he was fine. I have also found a way to fit the bath seat into his bath by turning it around so I will try that tomorrow. It will definitely give him more support so that could be the solution :fingerscrossed: .

Tabby - Great that you will be TTC'ing soon. You could end up having 2 very close together, better go and buy one of those tandem prams lol.
I am a bit jealous as I am still repairing "down there" so having another bub seems quite a way off for me. Plus we will need insemination again so it could be long and drawn out and possibly IVF if insemination doesn't work again. I wish it was as easy for us as some people! Probably towards the end of this year or early next year will be the time for us to look at going through it again. We also need to save up some $$ too as it's quite expensive *sigh*

Today we are going out to the shops, I have some things on layby at Baby Bunting and I also have a $100 shopping centre voucher (from Xmas) which I am going to spend on DH and R as I have bought a few things for myself of late.

Hi Bex and welcome to the January group

Hi everyone

HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE!!!!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome back - yes it was a very tough time as I basically lived at the hospital for 3 weeks!

Cordelia - awww what a cutie. I'll have to do something similar so I can embarass Coops at his 18th - haha!

Hels - hugs for R getting his needles the other day and for having a sore tums when he has panadol - poor little thing - hope he is feeling better now! I know what you mean about wanting to be stimulated cause Coops gets cranky with me if i'm not entertaining him! Hence the messy house!

Bex and Bailey - Welcome to BH! You will find lots of lovely ladies on here with lots of support and advice!

Tabby - congrats on TTC again!! I don't think its even crossed my DH's mind yet! Although I've been thinking at the end of this year so the bubs are close but not too close.

Well we haven't been up to much. Went down to the beach yesterday to see off the Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race and then watched the footy last night. The sea air and sunshine must have worn Coops out because he slept for 3 hours when we got home which is unusual for him at the moment as he is only having 30min catnaps!

Anyways must go and do some housework while Coops his catnapping!

Have and awesome long weekend everyone!

Shaz :)

Hope you are all pigging out on chocolate this weekend!!!!
DS and I just shared a bag of little easter eggs in front of the TV - very naughty!!
Shazza - Hi there and welcome back. So glad Cooper is doing well - what an ordeal to see your little bubba go through!!
Karrina - LOL about little boys and wee!!! My DS once did a wee that went really high in the air and then onto his face. Had to laugh about little chubby Billy and his nappy free time!!
Bex - Hello and welcome.
Tabby - glad to hear Katie seems back to her usual sleeps. You know how you were saying she might be teething - I was thinking you must be right. I mean, her teeth can still be moving way below the surface of her gums which would be hurting her.
Good luck with TTC Katies little bro or sis. From what you have said before, I didn't think your DP would be hard to convince. I find with my DH I just have to make my idea SOUND like his idea......then I say "What a great idea honey!!!". Ah men........
I would dearly love to have another bubby. I have kept alot of clothes......BUT I really think the dollars would be stretched too far for us. I seriously couldn't afford to have 3 kids at daycare (when I go back to work). DH wanted to go and get "the snip" but after Kelsey was born we decided to wait until DS starts school. So, maybe I will have another one later. Who knows, I still haven't had my IUD put in and we STILL aren't using any contraception. You'd think I would have learned by now!!

Hels - Totally know what you mean when you wish having another bub was easy for you. Although I haven't had to go through what you have, I had quite a few m/c's so I know the feeling of wishing things were easy!!! I say don't worry about having to wait a while to plan another bub. Reece will only be little once and you get to focus all of your attention on him at the moment.

Being a mum is such a great experience isn't it? All we can do for our kids is the best job we can sprinkled liberally with love (I read that somewhere). I just love my two monkeys and I have no idea what I did with my life before they came along (slept in and spent money on myself I think). I looked in the mirror today and was thinking how fat I look (and feel) and then I looked out the window at DS playing and I thought "Oh, who cares if I'm a bit fat. I have the rest of my life to lose weight but my kids will only really need me for such a short time".
Sorry for the BLAH :ecomcity:

Flicka, that is so sweet (and true!) what you said about the whole being fat thing and kids being little for only so long. I keep thinking I want to make the most of Trent when he is a bub, and devote all of my time to him, but I also want another one!!!! I figure by the time I am pg again, and have the bub he will be about 15 months.
Tabby and Jacstar you will have a TTc buddy here, I talked DH out of May, and pushed it back to June/July. I have to try to get rid of a bit of my fat tum:laughing:

Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter....

I really like that about the fat thing I think the same thing about the strtch marks. I mean look what I have to show for them.

I want all my kids close. I would be trying in a couple of months time but I think after 2 so close my body might need a break. I was sayin I need to loose wait first to but not nemore.
Just gotta wait till after oct 10, soon as the bridesmaid dress isnt made for bubby bumps.

Flicka : I really do believe she is teething regardless of a post I made asking where most said baby's have those things that age anyhow.
She hasn't had her fist out of her mouth all day and been a little unhappy which is so unlike her and I felt her gums and feels different to the otherday.
Time will tell I suppose :D
Love your last lines, very well said and oh so true!

bubsone: Same here actually, am upping the diet starting monday ( easter break lol ) to lose as much as can before. :fingerscrossed:

lol cheeki, yep the things we do to entertain/settle
Sometimes I amaze DP with my silliness to make Katie laugh/smile.
Katie is now trying to roll when on the play mat, she gets quite angry after a while that its not happening no matter how hard she tries
Also her back strength has increased this last few days, sitting on my lap with very little support!

Awake at 6am! but that was because she was unwrapped and cold, the temp dropped a lot overnight but too warm at 730pm to dress for it, plus shes wrapped X two so needs be in short suits etc. Be glad when it actualy gets cold and stays cold so can wrap her up warm and toasty at 730pm bed time.

Hope everyones having a nice sleepin!

Then tonight off to mums for a bbq and probably another egg hunt for the boys

Shazza - great to here that your little man is doing well - he's a real cutie!

Hels - re the bath issue, could it be the water's not warm enough? I made that mistake, DH had been bathing bub in hospital and when I got home I decided I'd give it a try, it'd been a while since I'd bathed a little bub and thought that the water had to be just above lukewarm, she screamed and screamed the entire bath, the next day I made it a lot warmer and she loved it. Turns out she likes her bath very warm and gets sick of it when the water starts to cool down.... just a thought??? I am the same - I love my showers to be near scalding, DS does too but DH hardly uses the hot tap..... we are all different I guess. Also I don't fill the big bath that much (we are on tank water) so she has her back and bottom touching the base of the bath - makes her feel a bit more secure - less startle reflex happening.

Bex - hello and welcome! I know what you mean about DH being away at work - Dh is a shift worker and seems to work all the holidays - he is missing easter today :crying:

Flicka - I'm with you! They are just such a blessing aren't they, what was life like without them??? And what Karrina said about 2nd time round I feel like that too, I just smother bub in kisses all the time and hug her so close to me, I am just so thankful for her and DS. I have no feelings of resentment when she wakes me at 3am, her little smile and DS's giggles is all I live for!! I think I've gone a bit ga ga I am usually a very stern no nonsense person (mainly in my workplace) but lately.... I just don't know!!

cheeki28 - what a great visual of your midnight madness, I have been singing rock a bye baby over and over again - I am so bored of it, it nearly puts me to sleep! I do the little dance while I rock her - wish I could find a way to rock her and tone my abs at the same time????

Tabby - good on you for going back again... good luck and enjoy! Dr advised me to wait at least 12mnths after the ceaser, I think I'll wait till this little ones toilet trained, M/S and pooey nappies - I think not! Also If the next one comes when bubs is four then it's only a short time that I'll have two in childcare at the same time when I go back to work. I head back in Sep this year and DS heads to BIG school in Jan 2008 so essentially I only have to pay for two in childcare from sep to jan - so sad - it's all about $$ and pooey nappies lol  Mortgages are a real B****!!

US - Well easter bunny had been and gone, DS has had his chocolate fix and has a enough to hord for the upcoming winter (if mummy doesn't secretly eat it on him - he's getting to old for me to nick it now :shame: ). DH bought some very xxy chocs last night, we've decided to indulge on one per night to savour them - I am desperate to lose my tummy and muffin tops and get back into all my size 8/10 winter clothes....... not likely :gloomy:

Bubs is sleeping from about 7pm to 3.30am - she was sleeping through till about 5.30am but I think maybe a growth spurt happening??? She's only ever really awake through the day for about two hours at a time - she just loves her sleep and wants to be in her bed. I am just enjoying it while it lasts. DS NEVER slept during the day when he was a bub - so am quiet happy at the moment.

Sorry just realised how big I made this post... thats enough of me then.

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Happy Easter

Welcome to Bex and Pobblebonk.
Shazza...good to hear from you again. :hugs: for all you have been through over the past few months.
Cordellia...love the photo's

A bit of a crappy night here. TJ had a temp and was generally unhappy last night. Didn't settle until 11pm. She then woke at 1.30am for a feed. DD1 decide to come into my bed at 5am (and not go back to sleep). And AF is visiting me, so after little, disturbed sleep I'm not in the best mood today. Easter bunny visited last night, but have already threatened DD1 that I'll give them all to the neighbours kids, as shes in a right mood today too:banghead: .

Got to go, TJ is not a happy chap today.

helsbels we bath Clea in the big bath and either DH or myself get in with her. If I get in then DH washes her from the side and visa-versa. She loves it and kicks around and laughs. I think she feels secure because we can hold her tight.

Clea has been awake since 6am, she has had a couple of 10 minute naps and has fallen asleep at the boob (and kept sucking) but she just doesnt want to sleep today. She looks so tired, and we have tried to put her to sleep, but she isnt crying, doesnt seem unhappy and is just kicking around on a blanket on the floor looking at her toy. Very strange. Hope she has a good night:fingerscrossed:

Gender roles sorry my inout is a bit late. Mydh and I have never had conventional roles. he cooks, i do very little, he loves housework, washing blah blah. We have had periods when I worked and he stayed at home and during this time he did everything for me. But now with a baby I suppose I am doing more of the traditional things, washing, cleaning, breastfeeding (well he cant do that!) basically I am at home all day and develop systems around housework. DH still cooks, but i would like more breaks from bubs - we are working on this.

well it has taken me hours to write this so i am going to post it and get back to reading the thread and trying to catch up.

Hi Girls,

Happy Easter

Shazza – Welcome back, so glad cooper is doing well. He’s a cutie.

Bex - Welcome to the January thread.

Hels - We bath Talon in the family bath tub. He absolutely loves it. Either DH or I get in with him (mainly me). Talon cries now when he has to get out.

Us – We had a very quiet Easter, hubby is working today and tomorrow. Easter bunny came to Talon lol. I’ve put a pic up in the ‘Show off your bub thread”. T is in a really good sleeping pattern at the moment. He went down at 6pm last night didn’t wake up till 6.30am. I didn’t get him out of his cot till 7am as he was to busy looking around and talking lol..

Take care

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh how I wish Billy would sleep through. He did his longest stretch last night - 4 1/2 hours before he wanted boobies again. It is so tiring, he also decided that at 4:30 it was play time - it took me an hour to get him back to sleep.:shame:

I am sooooooooooooooooooo jealous of all the babies having such long sleeps. PLEASE Billy sleep like them!!!

It wouldn't suprise me if he is around 8kg now, he is almost out of his 00!

Quite a few pages of posts to go through so this will be a long one lol.

Sugar - I am the same, the weight is going back on instead of off. I always find my appetite increases when I am on medication too. Plus I haven't been able to exercise due to my post natal complications.

Tabby - Yes I do remember introducing you to the group, and look at you now... you can't keep off it! ;)

Flicka - I agree, it's best to enjoy the bubs whilst they are little, (that was a nice comment that you made). If we are going to TTC again soon I will worry about loosing all the weight after my baby days are finished. No point spending heaps of money on Lite n Easy only to fall PG again soon after.

Bossoflatch - I have some Peapod and Cute Tooshie fitteds but haven't really used them much yet as he needed to grow into them lol. But I will start again soon. I do prefer sposies tho, however I will use the others as I don't want to waste money after having already bought them.

2cutekidz - I think the bath issue was due to R feeling insecure in the big bath as he is happy as Larry back in his baby bath. We use a bath themometer so the temp is always the same. I'll wait until he's older before using the big bath again.

Pobblebonk - Welcome to the thread. I notice your bub was born in 2006, we are all 2007 mums here so our bubs are a year younger than yours. You're welcome to chat here of course, but there is a section for January 2006 mums too.

Karrina - The first time that R wakes up at night I immediately put his dummy in and try to re-settle him. Most of the time he will go back to sleep for another 1-2 hours, have you tried this with Billy?

Mouse - Sorry to hear of your cr@p night and having AF, hope you feel better tomorrow.

Us - I had one of my migraines today, it was a bad one so I couldn't get out of bed until 5pm and I was :barf: 3 times, felt a bit like morning sickness again! I will start taking the pill when AF comes again this month, as this helps. So we didn't get to the Home Show after all but will probably go next weekend instead. DH coped quite well with R today by himself, he even took him for a walk this arvo to settle him. DH complained about how he was still in his bed clothes at 3pm and got nothing done, I said "welcome to my world" lol

Reece has found his hands, they are always in his mouth now, sometimes he shoves the whole fist in lol. I am always trying to keep them clean now so he doesn't get thrush again.

We bought R some little Easter eggs, too bad he is too small to have them so being the good mummy that I am, I will have to help him out ;)

Oh Hels: read today in Woolworths parents mag that nurofen infant drops is from 3 months, am sure was said before was 4 months, :fingerscrossed: its easier on him when need.

lol @ your dh and 3pm jammies!
Hope your feeling better, MIL has those and cannot get out of bed the same when so bad.
Is there a reason for them? or just something that happens to some and just have to learn to live with?

yep I spend way too much time here but Katie sleeps so much or spending time with dad that I have lots of time and am sure it keeps me sane to chat/browse ( time out maybe ? ). Keep saying how lucky I am to have such an angel this time rnd. boy do I appreciate it!

Famous last words Tabby! Hope your next bub isn't a little horror  I keep wondering the same thing if when we have another bub

Re the migraines - I have always had them and they are mostly due to hormones. My cycle has returned to normal now which is why they have started again. I find that the Pill helps settle things down but it's something I have to live with I suppose

Hi everyone,
Havent posted in a while and have just been quickly skimming thru the posts.
Sierra has been really good. She has been sleeping about 5-8hrs but starting at 6pm which i'm not thrilled about. Gonna try and get her into the rountine of going down at about 8pm or 9pm.
Have to take her for her needles this week sometime... she is over her cough now so i should get it done asap. She is at the stage where she doesnt like alot of noise. Last night DD1 & 2 and their cousin who is 3 were running around laughing and screaming and Sierra didnt really enjoy it. DD1 was the same around 3 months old. Cant believe Sierra will be 12 weeks on Tuesday... Its gone really fast.
Not much more happening here really. I was abit down & grumpy on Friday as i was extremely exhausted and DH hasnt been helping out that much. I've been getting up every night and doing everything during the day too so only getting about 4-6 hours sleep each night. So Friday it all just caught up with me, so DH took the older 2 out for a couple of hours which was nice but the house was a mess before they left so i just spent that time cleaning it up. i tried to get some sleep but that didnt happen. DH got up for Sierra everytime last night and this morning and let me sleep til after 11am so that was great. He is also going to do it tonight cos of the holiday tomorrow and there is no work. He always says that he could be a stay at home dad and it would be so much easier than working full time but i dont think he knows just how tiring it can be with 3 kids and no sleep lol.
I also have to go see my GP too this week. Been having lots of lower backache and my pubic bone and all my pelvis has been aching quite badly. Still havent had AF and its starting to worry me a little.. i know that so women dont have it for months after a birth but my cycle has always been spot on and went straight back after all the other births, so this time its a bit weird and also cos i've been having alot of pain to... thought it best to get it checked out.
Anyway thats all that happening here really.... sorry no personals, havent read all the posts for the month yet.
Hope all are well and hope everyone had a great easter. Take care

Hope everyone had a good Easter.

Tired*mummy, I totally relate to feeling down and grumpy. Cameron sleeps well at night but really hard (ie almost impossible) to get him to go to sleep during the day even though he is obviously tired. I've had bad sinus infection and finally went to the doctor and got prescribed antibiotics Sat morning after breaking down in tears at 4am becasue I couldn't sleep, couldn't breathe and felt awful. :gloomy: Then Saturday DH went out fishing all day and I can cope with Cameron being awake for a little while but by late arvo I'm exhausted so DH came home at 8pm to find me sobbing on the couch, sad, sick and hungry but too tired to even contemplate making dinner. It seems ridiculous now and I know being awake won't kill Cameron (and I can't force him to sleep) but when it's 4pm and he hasn't had a day sleep and is overtired and upset and no matter what I do I can't seem to help him fall asleep I feel like a bad bad mum.

A good day yesterday though. Spent Easter Sunday going for a long drive and a picnic & so Cameron had two excellent 2hr + day sleeps, woke from them happy and fed well. If only I could go for a Sunday drive everyday Cameron would be the perfect bub! We did a bit of 4WDing and the bumpier it was the better he slept. Wonder if they sell 4WD simulators.....

Been too sick and tired to try different things to help settle Cameron so looking forward to feeling better once the antibiotics have done their job and being able to startover fresh with a clear mind. Am feeling much better already (apart from quesy tummy) and should have listened to DH when he told me to go to the doctor over a month ago. At least he hasn't said "I told u so"! :o

Tired*Mummy - Nice to hear from you and I hope things are ok after you get checked at the doctor :fingerscrossed: .

Cat13 - I find that Reece won't sleep during the day too unless he has been out of the house so I try to take him out every afternoon, even if it's just for a walk or to the shops. Then he seems more settled at night. Will Cameron sleep in his pusher/pram?

To the Melb ladies - I know that we don't have many of us from Melb in this thread. But for those who are, I wanted to let you know that I am having a bubhub meet at my place this Thursday 12th April for lunch. If anyone would like to come along, please PM me and I will give you the details :D .

Hi-ya Girlies,

Tired*Mummy...Let me know how you go getting bub to start the night sleeps later. TJ usually starts her big sleep between 6.30/7.30. Which lately means a 1-2am feed. Hope the doc visit goes well and they can work out what the problem is.
Cat13...:hugs: hope you start to feel better soon.

A slightly better night here. I think TJ has an ear ache. Took her to the doc today, but he said he can't see anything. He gave me a prescription to start tomorrow if she is still having problems. During the day and while sitting up she is as happy as. But she's feeding even more erratically and only having cat naps. Late afternoon she starts to get grumpy and starts screaming in pain. DD1 only woke once last night and managed to "Sleep in" until 6am today:banghead: .

Luckily DD1 is behaving better today. At the moment she's having a picnic with her babies on the loungeroom floor, complete with fairy bread for lunch:p .

DH flies in again tomorrow. So hopefuly he'll be able to help a bit more at night if TJ continues to be grumpy.

TJ starts daycare on Wednesday. I've got three whole days to myself (I don't start work until next week). I can't wait to get into the mess we call a front garden at the moment.

Have a great day!

Hi ladies,

Tired mummy - Hope you are feeling a bit better after the long weekend and hope DH gave you lots of rest.
Cat - Also hope you are feeling better. I can totally relate to feeling overwhelmed by things sometimes. It can be so hard when you don't get 5 minutes to yourself the whole day. I often feel like that when DH gets home and he wants to cuddle on the couch and I feel like saying "Just don't touch me or come near me or speak or breathe because this is the first 5 minutes I have had alone all day!!". Sometimes I think men just don't get it do they? Hope your DH gave you a hug and made you some dinner when he got back from fishing!!

Both kids were a pain to get to bed last night. DS kept getting up every half hour or so to tell me he wasn't tired and Kelsey just wouldn't settle. DH has had a couple of days off and although he's helpful with the kids, sometimes I feel like he mucks up our routine. I have had Kelsey self settling really well most of the time but the last couple of days I have had to rock her to sleep. When we finally got the kids to sleep last night, DH said he had to go outside for some fresh air because he was a bit "stressed out". Another "welcome to my world" moment (Just like yours Hels).

Sorry no more personals.......am heading off to bed shortly.

HAPPY EASTER MONDAY
H and his Mummy+Daddy went on holidays, a lovely beach/bush/quiet few days together!:) Things are certainly looking up for us all living together, I think:smiliedance: Although on the way down we did drive ~130km then have an argument and turn the loaded car around and drive 30km or so back.. Thankfully we resolved to turn it back around! A lovely few days spending time with two special fellows!! I did some running, paddling + riding too! But mostly just lovely time together + singing to H, talking + feeding..

Oh I did try to take H for a swim, of course too COLD and he screamed, then a wave washed over, I fell over..hmm he was fine and toasty after a little while!

Missed and have now read about 8 pages!
DFB great to hear from you. Wonderful about Germany and yr DHs job, what an interesting one! Wonderful for the bilingual Clea.
MouseBrown, all the best for the fly-in tomorrow!!! Also to TJ for day#1 daycare.
Flicka, gorgeous words about Motherhood.
Hels, with the hair cut woohoo! Hope migraine better.
Shazza great to see yr beautiful boy Cooper
Mamabear3 [/B]thanks for the note about putting basinette in cot..great idea! Move to cot coming SOON ...
Bex and Bailey welcome!!!Another Perth girl too:wave:
Tabby great yr Katie might be the big sister to a bub one day. YAH. Yes ditto re hair loss. Sorry to hear abt yr friend. V hard! I am much much less tolerant of kid-unfriendly people, though I used to be one. I know why they don't 'like' them, partially as we 'lose ourselves' into them (not a negative to us!) and they don't see they are little people with personalities, we know they are!
Karrina am sure you've tried the lot, warm bath before last feed and tucked up all tight.
Tired Mummy + Cat13 hope yr both feeling much better.
Cordelia how is #2 time with ILs going? Beautiful pictures!
Pobblebonk hello to you and Mr Chicken, we share almost-DP issues..as I moonlight on another thread.. Hope yr Easter has been a happy one!

Well thats an epic I know, sorry! H is just beautiful and I miss him (sometimes) when hes asleep, love his yummy baby smell. And his seeming bashfulness when smiling!

Oh big THANKS!! for all the gender role discussion. I am fitting right into it too. I think it was just so different to what I have lived and thought for so long. But seems completely natural/normal now. It is wonderful seeing his Dad delighting in him and also rocking him back to sleep this morning, so he slept a whole other hour! Not sure how it'll be cleaning/washing all together..but at least I think its worth trying !!

Happy start of a short week!!

i have a quick q for mummies still breast feeding...

bubs is having about 5-6 feeds a day and about 200 ar forumla over the course of the day.. and i still don't have af back - :smiliedance: BUT i am a little concerned as i have been getting period type pains every 3 1/2 to four weeks, sometimes a little spotting and a discharge about a week before all this (sorry TMI ) but no real period - is this normal.. with both my older boys i got a period back within 6 weeks and i was on the mini pill at 6 weeks because of that , at the moment i am not on anything like that and am getting worried!!!

Hi everyone
Bossoflatch - I am the same. Its been about 8 1/2 weeks since the bleeding from after the birth stopped and AF hasnt returned. I've had no spotting, no discharge... nothing. I am not on any contraception either. I've had alot of pain but not sure if its AF type pain or from something else. I've had heaps of lower backache and my pubic bone has been aching really badly so i dont think it is AF pains. After the births of DD1&2 i got AF back within 6 weeks so i'm a little worried too and a bit concerned. I am going to my GP this week just to check everything out.

Sierra is still having long sleeps :smiliedance: which is great but still starting at around 6-6.30pm. Last night she went down at 6.15 and woke at 1.30 this morning which is really good but i went to bed at 11pm so i didnt get the full benefits of her long sleep. She woke again at 4:30am and then again at 6.45am. She has just gone back down now. Tonight i might try to keep her up til 7pm and see how that goes. Might also try to increase her feed she has around 1.30-2.30am and see if that makes a difference with her waking up a few hours later. But she is doing really well. Starting to take a big interest in her toys. Kicking & swinging her arms heaps... looks really funny but its cute.
DH helped out on Sat & Sun night/early morning feeds with Sierra but i'm still tired lol. Hopefully i can get a bit more rest this week while DD1&2 are still on holidays.
Have a great day!

Hi All,

Hope everyone had a great easter.

I noticed a lot of you talking about Af returning. I stoppped BF at all 2 weeks ago. I thought Af would be a while away. Well as luck would have it. I got it this weekend, while away so of course I had nothing with me. Isnt that always the way. DH was good and went out for me. I couldnt believe it.

Pobblebonk - My little one is also FTT. How old was he at 8kgs. I notice he is 14 months now. We are on the road to recovery. Little miss is 4.6kgs at 11 weeks. So we are getting there. :fingerscrossed:

AS for sleeping we still have a feed at 1 and 5am. I dont mind at the moment b/c she needs to fatten up. It does make it hard with the older 2 but I am hopeing once she stocks up a bit she will drop at least one of those. I am dealing with the lack of sleep fairly well at the moment.

Have a great day all.

morning all!
Hope every one had a great long weekend.
Ours was very quiet except for Sunday with the family all here, Katie got passed around a lot and was so tired by the time they left she went down and had her eyes shut while I was wrapping her lol

Tiredmummy: I had the same problem when day light saving changed with too early a bed time, youve probably tried it but I give Katie a bath before every bed time and when the daylight changed I just waited till she was just tired and would bath her, gives her a few extra bouts of energy to go a bit longer, it worked and we are back to 730-8ish again.

Charis: Sounds like your break was wonderful for yous ( regardless of the turn around lol ) Something we would probably do, so sounds all good to me lol, ah the joys of relationships.
It took me a LONG time to get used to all the sharing my life with a partner, I was alone for many yrs and always was very independent ( still am somewhat ). But wow does it feel great now to be able to share it with someone and wouldn't have it any other way.

Anyone elses bubbas getting ready to roll over? Katie is about to, She gets her back and shoulder over a bit, gets quite angry that she cant yet lol

uhoh Katie is wanting her morning nap so better go. Hi to everyone else!

Hi everyone, sound like you all had a nice easter! ours was good, fairly quiet, only did the family thing friday.

Well think we will wait awhile before trying to take x out to things with live music. Went to a lovely spot with a picnic at the river, was sort of a free concert too.....but someone decided to waaahhhhhhhhhh pretty much the whole time!! So then fed and back to sleep in car on way to friends bbq, and again waaaaahhhhhhhhh, so straight back home, didn't even get to eat dinner!! Oh the joys of mummyhood, won't be taking him out for a bit methinks. On the up he has started sleeping through the last 5 or so nites 7-5:30 so we're quite pleased, anyhoooooooo

CHARIS: sounds like a great trip you had, so glad it went well for you, :fingerscrossed: almost dp keeps it up to this standard! see u tomorrow at KEMH??

RE: The AF issue- I really don't know what to expect, still bfing and been on minipill a few weeks now and have had some spotting the last few days now. bit annoying really cuz no idea if af is coming, kinda seems it but not?!?!? I would just love for it to stay away for good while bfing.......but ya for those very concerned, best see your gp. TIREDMUMMY- perhaps your AF is different now because you had a cs with sierra right?? All I could think of!

off to walk up to post office and burn off these easter choc pounds i've put on:laughing: take care all

I can realate to no sleeping during the day Bailey thinks he can be awake all day. Then when u settle him at night U have to do it about five times. He sleeps till bout 1 2 now. then gets up bout 530 6.
My eldest didnt sleep through till bout 11 months..
Baileys only roles over by accident. He cant really lift his head all the way yet. Though he is only 11 weeks. Bailey is wrapped and in the bassinet in our room still and will be till bout 6 months. They say that sleeping in the same room till 6 months greatly reduces the cases of sids.

If TJ is havin a growth spirt Then she will eat more. Often with growth spurts they will have growin pains. Try a massage before u settle her. Or if she is really unhappy children panadol is great.
Bailey also was waking all the time but the child health nurse sed sometimes they over eat and because there tummy feel forrible they wanna suck so they eat more but that makes em feel worse. its a circle. I dont like dummies but she reckomended using it to get to 3 hours. It worked it was hard at first though. Now the problems fixed and hes almost of the dummy.

Hi everyone.. Happy Easter.

I can relate to all of you feeling tired and like "everythuing has caught up with you". I woke this morning and felt like I had been hit by a truck. Poor alexander work at 5am (thought it was feed time) and he must have gotten sick of me just going back to sleep cos he did as well. Gees I feel like a bad mum.. I didn't mean to ignore him but sometimes the monitor seems SO LOUD when we are woken from a deep sleep.

Alexander hasn't slept through for the past 4 weeks.

DH and I have had to have the "going back to work discussion" which resulted in many tears from me. I just don't think I can do it.... I am sure we will figure out a way.

I do run a small business from home but its the day job which keeps the security and the mortgage paid.. it's all soo hard.. wouldn't it be great if we won the lottery and money was no issue.. sigh..

anyway.. have a great day

Katie changes all the time, yesterday she hardly slept day but the day before was HUGE sleeps.
Today looks like being like yesterday, small naps.
Cant seem to get anything done! Luckily DP just walked in the door ( power outage at work) so should be able to now.
Sorry cant offer any advice Lisa as dont know myself what to do, Katies feeds do lower too but nothing extreme, I just wait it out and a couple days its back to normal, plus shes awesome nights still, 730-730 last night, But she woke often from 3am! you maybe right on growth spurts... TJ sleeping nights ok?
The small day naps seem to coincide with restless nights ( last night )

Just went for a walk shops, always feels good after so dont know why I dont do it more often, plus Katie loves it, just looks everywhere and not a peep.

Aries: Awww sorry to hear the outing wasnt so good. Hopefully was a one off

What is the definition of "sleeping through"?
Reece sleeps for a couple of hours during the evening in his pram (which we wheel into one of the back bedrooms). Then he wakes or we wake him around 10pm and he drinks 180 mls before going going to his basinette in his room for the night. He will then sleep until somewhere between 4-6am. Is this considered sleeping through? Sometimes I get up and put his dummy in so he sleeps again for another hour. Not sure how often I should do this though? I can never tell now if he is really hungry or just unsettled. He feeds about every 4-5 hours in the day and takes 180 mls. Some days he only has 4 or 5 feeds. He is almost 11 weeks old, does all this sound normal

After having the perfect baby who went to sleep sooooooooooooo easily, no patting, no rocking nothing- he has changed:devil6:

It has been such a drama to get him to sleep during the day! and he has come to rely on the dummy to fall asleep so of course when he stirs and the dummy has fallen out he wakes up again:thumbsdown:

I was doing a bit of research on the baby whisperer and apparently our babies should be having at least 2 naps per day (of 2 - 3 hours each time)??? or 3 naps (2 2 hour and 1 45 minutes), yesterday Billy had no more than 30 min both times. I am starting to go crazy!!! Today he has slept this morning for 30 min and now has gone down again but woke after 30 minutes, this time I didn't get him up I just tried to resettle him, he went back to sleep for 5 minutes and resettled again and now has been asleep for the past 15 minutes I really feel like we need to 'toss the dummy' as he is starting to become to reliant on it and I certainly don't want to teach him to rely on it, so I may start that battle soon to try to teach him to use self settling techniques. I did try yesterday but after about 1 hour of crying for the dummy I caved in:no:

Where did my angel go?:wizard: have you seen him?

Thanks Karrina, so I suppose it's fair to say that Reece sleeps though then most nights. But the thought of having a 10 or 12 hour stretch (like some of the bubs) sounds more like heaven to me lol.

Reece has a dummy during the day but not at night. He also doesn't sleep for very long now or he wakes up alot. This morning he didn't know what he wanted, he wouldn't go back to sleep so I got him up and then he fell asleep in the kitchen so I put him back and he woke up again :banghead:

Bub Hub overload, just read 11 pages of posts so sorry not too many personals.

Hels, Michael goes 6-8hrs between feeds at night which I consider all through (even though I crave more) It used to annoy me that the last feed is around 8pm most nights when I can't go to sleep too(busy tidying, watching TV & having grown-up time once Ben is asleep) Now I enjoy the grown-up time a bit more and at least the 4am feed has better TV on and only takes 20mins tops anyway.

I was getting worried that M wasn't getting enough milk (he BF's for approx 8-10mins total at each feed) but he is still putting on 200g a week so he must just be an efficient feeder. Plus the fact that he feeds every 3hrs still during the day!

Karrina, hope your little lost angel returns soon!

Charis, glad to hear DP and you & H are getting on so well.

I have a new obsession 'Thomas the Tank Engine' Ben got given a train set for Easter instead of eggs from Grandma (was meant to be for his birthday in September but she couldn't wait LOL) Michael got clothes as he is rapidly outgrowing everything lengthwise and all my OO's are summer stuff from Ben.

Happy Week to everyone!

Me personally would call that sleeping through, if hes not feeding and only waking for a short time for the dummy. If hes anything like Katie if he was hungry he wouldnt accept the dummy and go back to sleep. Im sure if it was hunger hed let you know? If Katie has hunger there is no accepting that dummy for longer than 2 seconds lol
All sounds normal to me, long as he has a nice weight gain dont worry.

Sounds like there is a few bubs not sleeping well for naps at the moment, katies has been quite short today again too.
Karrina: Yes I too hope your angel returns soon!
Im not too worried yet about Katies short naps, she changes all the time day to day

Got another rocker! I emailed mothers choice some weeks ago complaining about the one I purchased while preg, she tilts sideways on it and almost goes over the side ( its too flat and no give in it to curve around her body ) and I cant take my eyes off her for even a sec. anyhoo they said take it back to kmart and get a refund, so used that to get a better one, havnt tried it as yet but looks soooo much more supportive.

Hi everyone

Hope everyone had a great long w'end! Had pages to catch up on so long post coming up!

Sugar - I'm with you on the weight issue cause I lost heaps but have now put it back on again. Although I'm blaming it on the minipill rather than what I eat.

Flicka - I like your sneaky way of making DH think its his idea! I try and do stuff like that but my DH sees through me.

Hels - hope your head is feeling better after your migraine the other day - I can't imagine how painful they would be :hugs: to you.

Cheeki28 - I'm glad I'm not the only one who sings silly songs to help calm our bubs. I'm always making up songs to sing to Coops when he is crying.

Tabby - that is so cool that K is trying to roll - how exciting for you! Coops just gets to his side and then stays there, he has no interest in going any further.

2cutekidz - maybe its a boy thing with not sleeping during the day cause Coops isn't a big fan either even when he is very tired.

Pobble & Victoria75 - sorry for my ignorance but what exactly is "failure to thrive"? Is it just not putting on weight?

Charis - glad to hear you had a great holiday and things are going well between you both.

Bossoflatch - I'm bf and went on the minipill at my 6 week check up. I had a caesar so didn't have much bleeding at all and I hadn't got AF back before I went on mp. I've only had spotting once since then so I can't really help but if you are worried I would see the doc.

:hugs: to all those who need them!

Well Coops has had a weird day cause he has been sleeping all this morning and not really feeding as much as usual. And this arvo he's been tired but won't go down so hopefully it means he will sleep tonight. I'm wondering if he's a bit constipated because it looks like he's been trying to poo all day but nothing - I'm going to give him some diluted pear juice and hopefully that will help him.

Anyways must go cause DH isn't home tonight so I have to answer Coops call!

Cheers, Shaz:)

Yah for Billy rolling over!!

Hels Audrey sleeps from 9pm to somewhere between 5-7am. That's awesome but her daytime naps have got heaps shorter...yesterday she only slept for a few 1/2 hour naps I was going insane!!!! I think 6hours is considered sleeping through.

Is anyone else having problems with "flat heads"? Audrey is such a right side baby....it doesn't matter what we do to get her on the left she will wiggle out and be back on her right side. CHN said that it will correct itself as she stops lying so much ie. when she starts sitting etc.....

Bex - I stopped BF DD when she was about 12 months old and had milk in my boobs for a couple of years!! Everytime I would check by squeezing yep there was milk. But I haven't really got any advice for you, nor did I have leaking

Cate - have you tried putting bub in cot the other way around? ie feet where the head goes, or moving the bed around if bub is co-sleeping. Often they prefer one side as they are looking at something (light from the curtains, toys etc)

Karrina

Morning all. Feeling much better now that antibiotics are doing their job and have been able to actually get some decent sleep. Why didn't I listen to DH and go to GP ages ago?? Feel a million times better. Really is true that need to look after ourselves first if we are to be able to look after our little ones.

Karrina, sounds like you and some others are joining me in the nap refusal department. I've been there for about 2 weeks. Have kept a sleep diary and he is averaging 13.5 hours sleep a day but mostly due to his good night sleeps. Rocking, wrapping, patting & dummies seem to have nil effect so I unashamedly admit to feeding him to sleep now. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't but he did manage a 2 hr nap yesterday. He just isn't a bub who will crash - he just fights it and fights it and feeding him to sleep is the only thing saving my sanity. Once he is sleeping better and well rested will try to wean him of feeding to sleep during the day but I plan to keep doing it for his pre-bed and night feeds - that is when it feels like he still is my little angel

Cate - I think you asked who manages family finances/bills etc?? That is definitely me  . DH wouldn't know half of what goes on. It probably helps that I'm an accountant but dread to think where DH would be without me. Before we met many many years ago he used to take his whole pay out of the ATM on payday and just put it in his wallet and spend until it was gone.....thanks to internet banking I now know exactly what's going on!

Had some exciting news last night. An old uni friend just got engaged and has asked me to be a bridesmaid. Have never been one before and she was mine but has heaps of friends so wasn't sure she'd ask me. Wedding will be later in the year in Melbourne but good chance to visit my family and friends too and show off Cameron before he is all growed up!

Hope everyone has a good day. Going to try and actually get this disaster area of a house clean today...haven't vacuumed in nearly a month :o

Karrina, just read your last post. It doesn't help but I know exactly how you feel. Why oh why do they fight it so much???!

:hugs: Karrina. Hope he settles soon.
Can you pop him in the pram and rock to sleep maybe? Probably not much help sorry, but I find a change of scenery helps when Katie wont settle cot/elsewhere, Shes fighting her sleep this morning too

cate: I imagine Katies would be a little, she favors one side, but I also have the porta cot now for occasional day sleeps and its near a huge window and she loves to lay in there gazing at the sunlight coming through and its the opposite side as said by Karrina.
So many new things that wernt a problem 15 yrs ago! flat heads....

Finances: DP wouldnt have a clue whats due when, unless its the car payment ( his direct debit ) and even then forgets and gets overdrawn!

Katie went from 730-730 and woke 3 times but only to give the dummy and right back to sleep.
Shes loving the new rocker! she bashes these toys and laughs and smiles galore, its much more entertaining and much more comfy
Am changing to karicare AR, it cost heaps more formula + thickener, plus easier to take out etc.
Katie is allready daddys little girl! Hes stolen her lol, she cant take her eyes off him and loves a chat on his knee

Me too Karinna! :banghead: I hope Billy remembers sleep is good soon. H did have about 20mins, but essentially I tried putting him to sleep after the 1st yawn, rather than the second and both of us got frustrated.. yep and for about 40mins. I still swear by small blower/heater. Either the comfy snuggly feeling or cos it reduces oxygen, oops naughty Mummy!

Bex sorry to hear about the (.)(,) s !! Sorry no idea how to stop them. But on the topic I'm on washable b-pads, they're great, should have used them from the start.

On rolling. H is 12wks +bit and has rolled twice, both when on his tummy. Arh actually a third time, from back to front..but I wasn't there, #3 in his '9 lives'. His Dad left him for a sec (!!always the way it happens!!) on a towel on the beach (hmm not only fully exposed to SUN) to get the bjorn..and ran back. H was face down and making no noise, gosh I can't even bear to imagine that!! So he frantically took all the sand out of his mouth (!!!!!!!) and nose. Yikes! I promise we're good parents..and hopefully his Dad will never leave him for a second again.

H was ok and showed almost no signs of it when I got back (still some sand in nostrils), his Dad still shaken. The whole time I was away (paddling) I wasn't at all relaxed. Realised I'd much prefer to be with my baby. Intuition? Oh thanks too for all the good wishes for our little family. Will try :yelclap:

Oh all beautiful easter bunny-ear bubs!!! + avatars too.

hmm H asleep feeding now. V v cute, but difficult to have a shower.

Cat13 great about bridesmaid news and yr friends engagement!! H and C sound similar..let me say dummy again, just to go to sleep. No screaming ever again..but a lot of wriggling this morn.

See you soon Aries..and any other KEMH Mummies+bubs, physio class + lunch. LG physio dept 11am.

Tabby wow that is a beautiful sleep 12hrs!! Love the image of her in the portacot looking out the window :) This rocker sounds GREAT!

gosh am so sleepy. He slept 5.5+4..but getting up at 5.30 rather than 6 still having its effects. Happy days all.

HI everyone

Well i tried last night to put Sierra to bed an hour later... It didnt work. Instead she went to bed an hour earlier at 5pm. She started to get a little grumpy and about 4.30pm so i gave her a bath, dressed her and then put her down in her bassinet while i moved her bath/change table back into her room and she was fast asleep by the time i did that... it was only a couple of minutes lol. Anyway it was great though, she slept until 1.40am  couldnt believe it. Then she had a feed which i increased to 150ml and she fell back to sleep at 2am until 6.15am. Then got up, fed, watched TV in her rocker while i tried to sleep on the couch, then she fell back to sleep at 7.15am and woke again at 10.30. She must be growing lol. So i got quite a bit of sleep last night and this morning which was great. Feeling a little better now. Hopefully she does a similar night tonight and i can go to bed a little earlier.
Re: Rolling over.. no not yet. She just lays on her tummy when i put her on there. Kicks her legs but thats about it.
Re: Day sleeps. Sierra is really good during the day. Yesterday i started a sleep/feed chart which someone recommended... cant think who it was sorry lol. And she was only awake 4 hrs all up yesterday until she went to bed at 5pm. She always has a couple of naps which are about an hour and a long sleep in the afternoon which is about 2-4hrs. I think she just love her sleep at the moment... it will probably change soon though.
Hope you all have a great day and all bubs behave themselves.
Take care

Hey girls.
Mouse - Kelsey has also been a bit unsettled and I think it must be growth spurt time!!!
Cate - My DH and I have a deal regarding finances/bills etc. He looks after the bills and I look after groceries and running the house. Seems to work for us. PLUS my parents live overseas and I pay all of their bills (with their money of course) while they are away....so it only seems fair that DH look after ours.
Hels - yes I would consider what Reece is doing a 'sleep through'. Kelsey goes to bed about 7.30pm and gets up anywhere from 4-6am.
Karrina - I LOVE the baby whisperer. Have all of her books. Baby whisp also says that period of baby being unsettled may coincide with developmental periods and Billy is proof of that - now he is rolling over.
Sammy - Don't mean to sound bossy or lecturing but don't doubt your milk supply!!! Kelsey doesn't feed for long - only about 10 mins at a time maximum AND she will only have one side each feed (leaving me feeling a bit lopsided). I'm sure he (and kelsey) are just really efficient feeders. Some babies like to take their time and others just get on with it.
Mini pill - have read some of you are having spotting. I had terrible spotting with the mini pill after DS was born. It got so bad that I just stopped taking it. Apparently it is very common but nothing to worry about - more annoying than anything!

I can't believe so many bubs are rolling already. I think kelsey is too lazy plus she really hates tummy time. Bought a bath seat for her today so that I can have my hands free to help out DS in the bath too. Can't wait to try it out. Well, her majesty calls for boobie so I am off....take care all.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes!

No time for personals, it took me 3 hours to get Billy to sleep (which included 2 intervals for a bath and a feed and in the end I caved and gave him the boobie). It has been such an awful day. To make matters worse my poor DD is so bored as I was tied up for 3 hours trying to get him to sleep. In the end I went outside had a cry and when DD came outside I asked her for a hug - she said "I'm too busy!!" WTH? That made matters worse as I felt like such a **** mum, :gloomy: I even had feelings of anger towards Billy which is the first time since he was born. I felt like ringing DH to come home from work. I wsa still in my PJ's until about 11am and I had so many plans for the day. Maybe I am focussing too much on his sleep...I don't know he was so easy before and I don't want to start holding him to sleep.

Oh woe is me...blah, blah, blah :ecomcity: Just feeling a bit bad about myself at the moment and even worse that DD is so ignored. I tried to explain things as best I could and that I love her lots too:crying:

Enough about me, on a good note Billy has been asleep for the past hour, just woke briefly resettled and back to sleep. Just a bit boring for me and DD waiting for him to finish off a decent sleep before heading out. Thank God for Austar/Foxtel and Nic Junior (but just quietly Ollie is starting to drive me nuts! as well as 'Peppa Pig')

Please little angel reappear soon....

Thanx Flicka for words of encouragement - not bossy at all.

It's just a shock after DS1, BF didn't work and he used to take 45mins with a bottle! He is a slow eater to this day (just like his uncle) Hopefully M will continue to be a good eater when it comes to solids too!

Cate - I hate still being in the pj's thing...I like to get up in the morning and get beds made, showers, bath the kids, dishes a load of washing and then I feel like I can breathe easy for the rest of the day - but that's just me (of course jumping onto Bubhub a few times a day keeps me sane)

I just don't feel like a human until I have a shower, I even blow dry my hair and put on make - up (you know that saying all dressed up and nowhere to go?) that's me! But I do try to get out each day even if it is to the shops. It really is so much harder with 2 kids (let alone all you mummies with more than that) and this week sux and DD is not going to pre-school (holidays), at least then I had to be super organised. I wonder how I am going to fit in part time work when I go back in June

karrina We spent 2 hours trying to settle Clea last night. She actually went to sleep at about 7pm, woke for a feed at about 9pm went back to sleep and thenwoke up at about 9.15 realised dad was home, and then screamed for 2 hours. It was like our lovely calm happy clea was possessed! I biunced her on the swiss bal for 40 minutes, my legs are sore today. It didnt work and all it acheived was a small projectile vomit (oops!)finally got her to sleep after she settled down for a long feed. all that crying made her very hungry!

helsbels I think sleeping through is about 6 hours, during that time they may wake a couple of times but are able to put themselves back to sleep. everyone wakes at least 2 times a night (over 7 hours) but we are so used to putting ourselves back to sleep we dont even notice it.

daytime naps! Clea is about 15 weeks now and the naps have become an issue. She stayed awake the whole day on Friday! needless to say the next day she was a mess, crying, cranky and hungry. I have days were she fights sleep and days were she falls asleep in her pram while I am making lunch (like today) I hate to say it, but i am glad to hear that everyone is going through this as well. I have realised that Clea's morning nap is essential or I have a cranky baby all day.

Well looks like a lot of us are having the day sleep saga! It makes me feel a bit better

WOuld you believe it after a **** day, Billy went down for his second sleep JUST LIKE THAT - no problems. I guess he is really tired.

The other upside of today is I just joined up with a 'broadband' phone calls company which is going to save me at least $80 per month off my phonecalls. I love it when that happens and I find ways to save money. If you want to know more check out the 'Engin' info in the Money saving section of bubhub. Thanks Bubhub! They are having a special where it doesn't cost anything to get the phone or voicebox

By the way Billy slept for 2 1/2 hours this morning, will be interesting to see how long he sleeps now

   vibes to all our little :devil6:

hi all, we're back from our easter holiday - just lovely. had a very relaxing time and Hamish was wonderful. His feet hardly touched the floor for 6 days! (we forgot to take the play gym - oops, bad mummy). SOOO many posts its taken me ages to read through.
Karrina I can really relate to your no day sleeps anxt. We had that problem for ages but Hamish seemed to miraculously change overnight although he still only sleeps for about an hour at a time. Very occasionally we get a two hour day sleep (like once a week if we're lucky). I have no idea how we'll go when he moves into a cot though as I rely on rocking him in the bassinet on the pusher. I like the tip to put the bassinet in the cot - thanks for that!
Am feeling !@# today after two days of Hamish waking at 5.30am and not going back to sleep. He's sleeping about 5 1/2 + 2,3 or 4 + 1 if I'm lucky so I'm still getting up twice a night mostly.
Charis, great news about your dp and very scary story about the sand!!! Its a lesson as I never imagine Hamish will roll over from back to front so am probably a bit slack with leaving him on his back. He has done a front to back a few times but more by accident than design and hasn't done it for quite a few weeks now.
Went to the CHN today - 6.6kgs and 62.5cm at 13 1/2 weeks which is ok with me. Feeds are starting to stretch to 3 hourly but not always...
Hey Tabby, we had the 'more children' talk the other night and my DH didn't say no either!! amazing as he was always so adamant this was it (he has two older boys already)...maybe will have to take him up on it while he's still enamoured with Hamish - before the 'terrible two's' hit!! Actually it doesn't really suprise me, he's such a big softy.
Well, I think I'm :ecomcity:. its been a bit long...
glad you all had a good easter, I've got choccy withdrawals already.

Hi everyone

Well Sierra is down for her night sleep... 4:30pm today instead of 6pm. She went down at 5pm last night. Might have to get her up in an hour and keep her up for a little while. Wonder why she has decided she likes to go to bed early. She only been awake for 4 hrs again today. Do you think she is going thru a growth spurt maybe?
I cant remember when babies have their growth spurts... its been too long since DD1&2 where this little.

Tabby - Great that K likes her new rocker and well done on the 12 hours sleep, I am definitely jealous of that! Please let me know how the Karicare AR goes?

Charis - Gosh another scare! I suppose it re-iterates that we can't take our eyes off them for a second.

Freddie - Welcome back from your Easter break. So you could be joining the TTC'ing club soon aswell ;)

Karrina - Sorry to hear of Billy's lack of sleep, how frustrating for you. During the 3 hours that you were trying to settle him was he playful and happy? or grumpy and crying? Maybe you are focusing on his sleeps too much? I don't mean to sound judgemental by the way, but maybe just try letting him do what ever he wants and see what happens? :hugs:

Us - I don't really mind if R is awake or asleep during the day so long as he is happy. I quite often lay him on his playgym infront of the TV and go about my daily chores. He either gurgles and kicks for a while or falls asleep on his own. He also lays on my bed for half an hour every morning whilst I shower, get dressed and tidy up my hair and face. I am never still in my PJ's in the arvo (well, not since being PG when it was my choice lol). I have a routine where he fits in around me (within reason of course). We do alot of playtime now too and I have taught him how to say "oooh" it's so cute! he also pokes his tongue out and copies me.

We had an unsettled night though, Reece normally goes straight to sleep but he was crying a bit so I gave him his dummy (which he doesn't normally have at night). Then he woke at 1.30am so I gave him the dummy again. He finally woke at 4.30am for his feed. Then he only slept for another 3 hours. Also, he didn't do an no #2 at all yesterday so he could have had some tummy pain if he was trying to go. Hopefully he will be better tonight :fingerscrossed:

We went to the supermarket this arvo, it's the first time I have done a full weekly shop by myself since he was born. I put him in one of those trolleys with a baby seat. He has enough head control to sit in one now. I wrap him in a blanket which keeps him comfy, away from any germs and also gives him a bit more support. He was really good and slept for most of the time.

Hels: Will do, we start tomorrow when other formula runs out. R falls asleep on the play gym mat? If so I am jealous lol. I remember the boys used to fall asleep bouncer/floor etc but Katie wont, she must have her wrap and bed lol. Was hoping this comfy rocker she might but not so far.
She also woke tho briefly am wondering if was poo related too seeing she didnt do one yesterday either, alls good now though. ah the contents of a nappy issue lol
Good on Reece for being such a good boy for Mummys shopping trip!

Charis: Scary! Glad all was ok.

Freddie: ohhh yay! so when do you plan to ttc? We will be starting in May.
Im rather excited at the prospect of two litties close together :fingerscrossed: I fall easy.

Hels: So jelous of the shopping trip. I haven't tried it yet with three. We do go for a walk though most days. I look so funny with 1 on my chest in the baby bjorn, 1 in a pram and one walking ( mind you he is only 3 1/2) So we dont go ffar. Just enough to get out of the house.

Charis: Dont worry my oldest 2 both had things like that happen. My eldest even rolled of my bed. Thats how I learnt he could roll. :o Whoops. I am trying to be better third time round. It is a horrible scare though and I am glad all is ok.

I am afraid we wont be joining in the TTC. We are finished with our three now. Good Luck to all those thinking about it.:fingerscrossed: I was pregnant again with no 3 when No 2 was 7 months old.

Hels - I usually put Billy down at the first sign of being tired, jerky arm movements and yawning before he gets over tired. He was grumpy and screaming most of the 3 hours and looked so tired with it all but really wanted to sleep too if that makes sense. It is so unlike him....

He has now gone down for his 3rd nap for the day (first one was 2 1/2 hours, second one was about 1 hour and like the baby whisperer says he is on his third - or maybe out for the night?) But he can't do that I haven't put him in his jammies yet:laughing:

Charis, I think you will find a lot of Bubs have little 'scary' accidents. DS1 also rolled off a bed at 3months and he seems fine to me.

Victoria, you brave, brave woman getting out with 3 under 4! Getting out with 2 was scary enough for me. We won't be TTC until M is a bit over 1yr old, so protection, protection, protection till next March/April for us. Not that we have needed it yet although tonight may be the night! I am a bit wary!

Probably was the cold that woke her originally as she had kicked off the wrap.

We were the opposite last night Tabby, as we had an awesome night :smiliedance: R went 10pm - 6am and then 7am - 10am. I feel like a new woman! He is now lying on my bed gurgling away whilst watching 9am on TV lol.

When I got up to feed him at 6am I put him in his feeding cushion on the bed (next to DH) with a blanket as it was quite cold. I came back with his bottle 5 mins later and both baby and DH were sound asleep together, typical! So I went back to the kitchen to have my bowl of Albran, (I am doing the 2 week challenge ;))

Have a great day everyone, back later with some personals :)

I havne't written here ina couple of days - but I've been reading.. I feel sick to the stomach because I thought I could be pregnant already. I forgot to take the stupid minipill and then forgot that i forgot. Fortunately I've woken up this morning with those all too familiar cramps in the event of AF arriving in the next few days. Mind you, after several very philosophical discussions with DH we decided that should there be a baby it would be verymuch watned and loved and we were getting quite excited about it.

Apart from that, the IL's are stillll here. 2 sleeps til they leave. There is a lot of pressure for me to leave them with Caitlin and go out but I just feel so sick thinking about it. Last time I could go out - no worries, but she was so sleepy there wasn't much of a chance it could go wrong. Nowadays, she's such an effort to get to go to sleep that I can't even think of leaving her.

To top it all off I've had about 3 anxiety attacks in the middle of the night over the past week. Poor DH is so worried. It's just getting a little much... I'm going to see how I go after the IL's leave and then if I'm still feeling anxious and pannicky all the time I guess I'd better visit the GP.

Apart from that, Caitlin is SO AMAZINGLY CUTE and I just keep pinching myself. I can't believe how much I could love her. AND she slept through again last night which she hasn't done in about 2-3 weeks so she is my absolute life saver!!

Sorry about this egocentric entry. I'm in one of those egocentric moods! I hope yuo're all going well :)

ah nice one Hels, got breakfast undisturbed too!
lol @ the fellas falling back to sleep, how cute!
Should have grabbed the camera :D

Cordelia: Hope when the ils go things settle down for you :hugs:. When are they heading off?
It cant be helping im sure!
Totally understand what your saying re: Loving them so much! I cannot wait to get up in the mornings just to see her smile. Its sometime very overwhelming

Katie is starting to grab at the bottle, She rubs her hands up and down it and occasional whack and it flings from my hands, annoying but very very cute and funny:laughing:

Shes back to bed, hope todays naps longer than yesterdays, goodness knows she should be tired after this morning!
added some pics in other section, shows how she prefers to sit lounge, thinks shes a BIG girl already lol

Cordelia :hugs: about the IL's, just had to visit mine for the morning. It is so painful sometimes, they have nothing but sport on TV, hassle DS1 about his non-existant toilet training and go silly over M! I was so over it I took out my book and started reading!

But the morning is over and I am still grinning over my clever baby going from 7pm till 4:40am without feeding! That's the longest yet, only trouble is I feel the worse for it as I am used to much less sleep now.

We also finally BD'd for the 1st time last night and it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. It was a little uncomfortable after DS1 but the extra long break after M seems to have done the trick. DH is very happy this morning LOL I will add that the main reason I waited so long was that DH wouldn't try any of his moves until well after bedtime and I kept stressing to him how important my sleep was, wasn't my fault he didn't catch on for 4 weeks just to try earlier in the evening!!!

Charis...if we didn't make mistakes, we wouldn't learn:rolleyes: .Hels...LOL at the Albran. It's been a constant part of my life since I became pg.
Cordelia... scary thought being pg. As you might have guessed from the fact I'm happily giving everything away, there will be no more for us. Now just have convince DH to go and get a little snip. :hugs: your IL's will be gone soon. If you don't want to go out and leave Caitlyn with your IL's, then don't. You wouldn't enjoy your time if you were worried about her anyhow.
:smiliedance: TJ slept for 9.5 hours last night. Her first day at daycare wore her out. Am happy to say she has started feeding again properly (since Tuesday), though daytime sleeps are still a bit erratic. But I told daycare I didn't mind if she didn't sleep much while there if she was going to sleep so well once she got home.

Have just finished cooking patty cakes (80), and have so far only eaten 2. Hope they cool off enough to put them in the freezer soon, or the number may have depleated even further.
Am off to hang a load of washing out then have a hate session in the front garden.

Have a great day!

:p My angel seems to have mysteriously reappeared just as he disapearred :wizard: (I won't talk too soon)

Billy went to bed last night at 8pm and slept until 9am this morning (minus the 'dream feeds' every 3-4 hours), he then had a nap for 40 minutes, another one around lunchtime for about 1 1/2 and is now down for his 3rd. There hasn't been much fuss to get him settled to sleep, although we are still using the dummy:( which is a big change from the last couple of horrendous days

I am going to get some 'Nuk' dummies as they are more contoured to the face, he is currently using the Happy Baby ones and when he plays with his hands during settling he gets his fingers under the dummy and pulls it out. SO I figured the contoured ones might help him stop pulling the dummy out when he is nearly asleep and then waking up for the dummy again:banghead:

cordelia Ahh anxiety attacks, I havent had one for about 10 years and lately I have felt the echoes of one, but havent had one thank goodness, they realy suck!. I think I am feeling sightly anxious because of lack of sleep. Sometimes I feel like I am in a haze...Do you have affirmations? I found these really helped. But of course it depends on what causes them. When I used to get them alot I was convinced it was hormonal, it took years for a doctor to finally listen to me and I ended up having ovarian cysts and endometriosis, once this was removed the anxiety really calmed down. Sorry, now my answer has been really egocentric! I really just wanted to say that i hope it settles down soon.

Clea feels quite hot tonight, she has a temp of 37.4 . I dont even have any baby panadol just in case it goes up. Could be a trip out to find a late night chemist. I have stripped her to singlet and she is asleep with a light cover over her. I am sure it is just the windy day and the fact that i kept her out for 5 hours today. her eye is also gummier (is that a word?) than usual. Docs say its a blocked tear duct, but I think it is more. Tried homepathics but hasnt worked... anyway, when I go down to NSW I will take her to my family doctor and ask for a swab to be taken. Feeling a bit down and really really tired. Clea has been waking for 3 feeds a night (9pm, 12 and 3am). and she is feeding aout every 2 hours during the day. I am exhausted.

Geoffrey was having a few cat naps today too - also falling asleep whilst I am feeding him, which he hasn't done for a while! He went down for the night at 7.30pm, so we'll see how long he goes for, has generally been waking up about 5 or 6am, so am v. happy with that!

Karrina - :smiliedance:for your angel back!

mousebrown - good news about the sleeps! well done!

Dragonflyblu - Billy has a guncky eye too - when he was born there was one eye with a blocked tear duct, I squirted in breast milk and it went. Then about 2 weeks ago it came back, really quite bad (green gunck build up and streaming) so I took him to the ED at the Hospital, the doctor had a look, took a swab and said it looked like a blocked tear duct and to keep it clean and massage it - they usually resolve themselves but now he has it in both eyes! So tomorrow I will be off to doctors to find out results of swabs and whether there is anything else that can be done

Has anyone started gym or exercise? I had a look at the local YMCA as there is a creche...but still not sure. Have always hated the gym with avengence! but wouldn't mind the yoga classes.

howdy ladies
dragonflyblu I was just talking to someone today whose baby fed two hourly thru the day and night. She got advice from the community nurse to feed bubs some water every second feed (not sure how much) and he pretty quickly dropped to four hourly feeds - like almost an overnight change. She said he was overfull and bloated and windy from all the feeding and he was a changed baby. Maybe could be worth a go???
Tabby & Hels, not sure I'm ready to actually ttc just yet but it is a start to know its not totally out of the question for DH! its a bit of a scary thought - I really couldn't face being pregnant again at the moment or in the near future but you never know....
Karrina I've been going to a post natal exercise class twice a week which is pretty good and not too full on. I can't imagine much more than this and a few walks. Carrying Hamish around is pretty good exercise for me. I do crave a swim now and then though and yes yoga would be great. I was just thinking today of seeing if the yoga school I went to when I was pregnant would consider starting a mums and bubs class.
not sure what else to say tonight, am feeling a bit brain-addled and could do with an early night. :wave:kx

Katie went 730-630 :smiliedance:
She woke briefly at 3 am and heard her talking away and thought oh bugga here we go again but re-wrapped her and gave dummy and she went quiet so I went back to bed to wake at allmost 630! She did have a enormous poop in her nappy ( usually poos later day ) and she was still smiling away lol. Maybe the change formula, not a bad thing as shes always had trouble poos.

Hi everyone.

Goodluck to all those ttc again. I think Tom will be my only baby....I think your all very brave having more!

Tom took a whole bottle of expressed milk yesterday! Its very exciting because it looks like i may be able to get a bit of indipendance and his dad can spend more time with him. he didnt like the Avent bottle but took the Nuk one. i have a nuk pump so yesterday i was searching everywhere for more nuk bottles and nowhere stocked them. Its very frustrating.

Tom is sleeping between 6 and 9 hours at night. last night he went down at 7.30pm and woke to eat at 5.30am. i am pretty excited about that.

He keeps going 4 days between pooing and is farting a lot and during the arvo is screaming trying to fart. i really dont know whats going on. Any ideas?

Acacia:
Some babies go daily, some up to a week its not unusual BUT if makes tummy aches you can try Infants friend, its suppose to help their bowels regulate and ease tummy upset, Its worked for katie before if shes missed a couple days or if its hard its helped soften it.
Am finding katie wants more water lately too which I think has helped that side of things

Brought some pretty girly dresses off a lady here on bh and they are being sent today, cant wait!
Will be going to get professional photos done once they here, just have to get to best and less and get those pretty shoes to match.

Funny how when she sleeps well nights she sleeps day better as well, as she slept so well last night shes gone back to bed real easy and sound asleep already, unlike last 2 days/nights.

Tabby - My MHN said that sleep promotes sleep and I think that is true here aswell. There is no way I could put R to bed before 10pm as he is so unsettled during the evenings still.
Last night I put a colour on my hair and DH got so frustrated with R as he kept crying and wouldn't settle. But whenever I went to him he would stop crying and smile. He is a real mummy's boy now

Us - This morning R fed at 5.30am, back to bed at 6am and only slept for another hour. I could tell he was still tired so I put him in his pram, wheeled him around for a few minutes and he went off to sleep for another 2 hours! It's like he doesn't want to be in his basinette anymore after he wakes up. Should I try putting him in his big cot now at night now, what does everyone think?

ohhh ohhhh!

The :devil6: has returned and Billy was again fighting a morning nap even though he was tired. I gave him a bath half way through the 'crying and jerking arms' took him about 2 hours to go for a sleep:(

It just makes it so hard to get ANYTHING done when you've got a screaming, tired baby

Wow, I haven't posted since last week and it feels like forever, so much to catch up on.

Woohoo Koby slept through the whole night!! I can't believe it. He went to bed at 7.30pm (his usual time) and he woke at 5.30am. I woke at 3am, 4am and 5am waiting for him as my boobs were like 2 hard painful rocks full of milk. It was such a relief to feed him, he ended up soaked in breast milk dribbling out the sides of his mouth and gave the hugest burp afterwards! He was awake till 7am and then went down for a nap till 8am.

I'm not expecting a repeat performance, but if he does sleep through again, I will be one happy mumma!

Hels - Maybe he just likes the movement of the pram, if it works just keep doing it. He will probably have changed into a new routine by next week LOL - as they do! You could try the cot if your ready. Definitely agree about the sleep promotes sleep. I used to think when DD had been awake half the day as a baby then surely she would crash out early from exhaustion, uh uh...doesn't work like that, she would fight till the end coz she was so overtired. Good day sleeps = Good night sleeps.

Koby is still in his bassinette, it's great because when he is putting himself to sleep and gets a little worked up, I just go in and give him a bit of push back and forwards and he settles again. I'll only move him into the cot when he gets too tall, and that won't be too much longer. Bummer coz I can't really push the cot back and forth all over the room. I will have to come up with another settling technique.

Karrina - I hope Billy has a nice long sleep for you :fingerscrossed:

Tabby
13-04-2007, 11:38 AM
Hels: He may just be ready for the cot yes and may stay in there awake playing/talking after he wakes as he can see more and have something to look at, mobile/light through window etc. Worth a try to see anyhow? even maybe a day nap and see how he goes first.
We have daddys little girl, when I cant get her to talk she just goes to him and natters away instantly lol. DP loves it!

aww Karrina, Sorry to hear he so unsettled again today. :hugs: Hope hes better soon

Us: the ar formula seems be working a treat, even less sick up than thickener..wierd
Katie has now started to love standing up right, even to the point of when putting into the pram shes rigid. lol DP had a hard time last night trying

weve not heard from mim1 for a bit?

13-04-2007, 12:58 PM
Hels - Geoffrey loved his cot when we first put him in there, and still does. it is the only place he sleeps really well, if he goes down during the day in pram or somewhere else he never sleeps as well!
I would go for the cot!!

well, so much for the sleep last night....i knew it was not going to be good, he woke at 11.30pm, 3.00am, 6.00am and 7.45am, as not good sleeps and feeds during the day yesterday, and I relaly agree, sleep promotes sleep!
so here's hoping for another better day/night today! he is asleep now :fingerscrossed:

Thanks for the comments re trying the cot. I am still a little unsure as he still fits nicely in the basinette and seems to like the closeness of it, same as the pram. But I could try the cot as a trial I suppose. I'm a bit worried that if I mess up his sleep pattern we could have a real battle on our hands to get it back again. But on the other hand, it could be the best move!
Ah, decisions, decisions

I put a head insert into his pram just now, as his head was still a bit all over the place in it. Since putting him back in there 10 mins ago he was out like a light lol.

Tabby - Reece has got that tuft of hair at the back of his head too, it kind of grows in a circle lol. It must be a baby thing as just about every baby I have seen has got it. Isn't it lovely how soft their hair feels? and I can't stop smelling his head after a bath :p
He is in one of his peapod nappies today too, they actually fit him now :yelclap: We are off for a walk to the lake shortly. I guess I will have to wake the little sleepyhead for a feed first.

Tabby
13-04-2007, 01:56 PM
Thats why suggested maybe just 1 day nap in there and see what happens? and if doesnt like it then go right back to pram, that way not disrupting his great sleeps.. Just a thought

have a lovely walk, was going to today but rain keeps threatening to happen, nothing yet mind you but be my luck wed get caught...ah excuses excuses lol

acacia look up sugar and water for bubs I dont know the quantity of each, this is used to loosen up the bowels. Maybe ask at you CHN clinic about it, I know someone in my mums group has used it successfully whne she introduced a comp feed of formula.

karrina Clea has gotten overtired like this a few times in the past week. I am really watching her now for signs and strating to put her to sleep as soon as i see the first yawn :fingerscrossed:

tabby I have a daddas little girl ,as well. he downside is that if he comes in from work late and hears his voice she wakes up and doesnt want to go back to sleep. Of course DH loves it.

jacstar that is my normal night! Clea wakes up every 3 hours.

I think I might try a bit of water. I dont want to give her a bottle, any ideas about cup-type things? She loves water, when she is in the bath and we pour a cup of water over her head, she pokes out her tongue. I had her in the shower and she wouldnt close her mouth and then kept coughing as bitys of water went into her mouth. maybe its a sign...

I found this

Hi-ya girlies,

Tabby...I dress TJ in a Bonds wondersuit (or similar) some nights with a singlet too. She's not wrapped, but I cover her (not tucked in) with a cotton weave blanket (like the ones in hospital). It's only when she wakes that she crawls out from under the blanket. IF you're really worried about the early morning cold, maybe buy an oil heater and set it to come on at about that time (some you can set time and temperature).
Hels...I'd definately say it's time for the cot. Maybe do as someone else suggested and move the bassinette into the cot for a few days before putting him in the cot. This is what I did for TJ and we didn't have any transfer problems.

Have had a great couple of days in the garden (3 hours each day). Had a huge hate session in the front yard and dug out a number of plants that weren't doing well or seeding everywhere. In the back yard I've repotted some ferns (they've needed it for 12 months) and planted a few new cordylines. Hope we get the rain they're predicting as the new plants need a decent water-in.

TJ had great sleeps at daycare yesterday and slept for 8 hours last night. Two nights of 6 hours sleep and I almost feel human again.

Wishing everyone long, sound sleeps,
Lisa

edit to say I just talked to dp and said sounds good cos either way will get quite cold eventually in there as its the very end of house, cheers for that help

Happy to hear TJ has given you some good sleeps
:fingerscrossed: it continues. Like you say we feel more human when we do, like today I feel great again as 2 nights relatively good of 10+ hrs with only a short wake at 3am.

cheeki: Zaide sounds like a real sweety. Can understand the nails, no matter how often I file they still do damage, that last pic here you can see a scratch on her nose again!
Do twins normally have a more dominate one? I read somewhere that in the womb they can?
Looks like lily is it lol

Well I won't say that Cameron is an angel just yet but I am coping with him much better
Slept from 7pm-3.30am and then until 7am after a feed. After his feed I had a quick brekky and took Cameron and the dog for a walk - our first one without DH. Cameron was quiet the first half, then got sooky then as we got back in the front door SILENCE. He fell asleep in the pram for the first time! :yelclap: Only a 40min nap but gave me the chance to shower and be presentable by 9am. Another feed then went to baby clinic at Amcal and he weighs 5.3kg at 12weeks. Mentioned I was having trouble getting him to fall asleep and she seemed surprised and said 'what, he won't fall asleep at the breast'. I had expected her to tell me off for doing that! Came home, another feed and 40min nap. Woke grumpy, got him up for a nappy change and 10min play then settled him back with booby (the one he emptied last feed because he didn't want to eat, just suck) and he has been asleep for 3 hours! Hope he wakes up for his tea and bath!

Oh, and he now sleeps in his cot unwrapped but in a grobag for nighttime. His big nap he is having now I popped him in his pram instead of the cot, not sure if that's the reason for the big sleep. More cosy maybe?

Have stopped watching the clock and worrying about sticking to a routine and trying to just go with the flow instead - feeling much happier and less stressed as a result. :) For today anyway, lets see what tomorrow brings!

hi all well i have been so busy and ashton is grumpy today. he has his needles coming up this monday so hopefully they will go ok.

Tonight my mum is coming to stay, she lives only 10mins away but dh and i are going to perth for a wedding so mum is going to stay here and look after them, makes it easier than taking them there and there in their own beds. Also we will be leaving early as the wedding is at 1.15 tomorrow.

So leaving first thing in the morning, out all night with the wedding and then on sunday have some vistiting to do and a bbq and hopefully get back home about 7pm or 8 to rescue mum from the three boys. Im going to miss them. i havent been away from the two youngest ones except when im in hospital. Should be a nice break though.

i love my mum:hugs:

Huggies have a new promotion for a musical play mat, but need 10 barcodes from nappys!
As I use both cloth and sposies and the sposie only when out it would take me forever to get to 10 barcodes.
Anyone who doesnt have any intention of using could send me theirs ?
Im a huge huggies product lover but wow 10 :( and I really would love the play mat

Tabby, you can have mine..only buying in bulk, so unlikely to get to 10 soon myself. Am trying to work up to convincing my Mum to make us a playmat :) PM me yr address..and I'll post. Only have about 4 on us at the mo, but they're all yours.

Acacia, Thom is such a cute smiley one!!

The one nap day in the big cot sounds very clever. Have almost got as far as putting the mattress in. Freddie when are you making the change? H is often v strong/energetic and spend a lot of time kicking the end of basinette and pushing himself to the top.

H pushed his teddy Bertie during tummy-time the other day, after I'd pushed 'her'. Woo-hoo. Oh and hits his xylophone pushbutton bits. Not great at holding rattles for long though. Anyone got any excellent toys/activities they'd swear by?

Cheeki28, great to hear from you, am I reading that right and you also have a kitten along with your twins!!!! Gosh. Sounds v v sweet too.

Sugar, what a great break. :smiliedance: Great for you and yr DH and your Mum, wow!!! Have a lovely weekend.

Regarding temperature.. H starts off like TJ (wondersuit+ singlet)and then cos this place is so cold gets a blankey with a cotton wrap holding it tight. Sometimes also a heater during the night. Will certainly take up MouseBrowns suggestion of the oil heaters too, esp programmable.

Gosh the news just has that chap who was charged with abusing his son (cigarette burns/fingernail pliers). Gosh how could anyone do that!!!!!! to a beautiful, trusting child.

hhm will end on a happier note and wish all a happy happy chubby bubby weekend :smiliedance:

Agree the programmable heater sounds awesome.
they good for babies rooms obviously? no fumes/fires etc. sorry miss no clue here lol
argh need a thingy rnd the gas heater as shed be crawling before winters over...

Mouse - Glad to hear things are going well with TJ and that's a relief to get stuck into the yard. I started mine last weekend, bought an electric hedge trimmer and R slept in the garage in his pram whilst we spent a good couple of hours out there. Hope to finish it off tomorrow :fingerscrossed:

Tabby - We use Bonds wondersuits at night too, I have used them since birth. The first one he wore was 00000, I pulled one out of the drawer the other day and it looks so small. Hard to believe he has grown so much!
Could you please let me know how Katie goes on the Karicare AR after a couple of days on it?I looked at it today and it is better value as it's only 4 scoops in 200ml of water. My current formula needs 7 scoops in 210ml. Also, when you mix it how does it compare to using the thickener, eg is it the same consistency?
I use huggies so I can send you some barcodes too if you still need more? But it will take me a while to get a few as I buy in bulk. How long is the promotion running for?

Sugar - Have fun at the wedding. I think that it's great how you always manage to get out and about even though you have the 3 boys to run around after!

Charis - Reece loves mirrors! maybe he is going to be vain when he's older :p He has one on his playgym and swing. The playgym amuses him for ages, it's a music and lights one which he is fascinated by. Not good at holding rattles yet either.

Us - Took a long walk down to the lake this arvo, then stopped at the new shops for a latte and a few items from Coles. It was a beautiful sunny arvo and R lay in the pram smiling and cooing for most of the time before having a nap. He is such a good little boy when we go out, he just loves it.
Tonight he was laying on his playmat and he rolled onto his side for the first time, but not quite all the way over yet.
He also seems to be back to doing 4 no #2's a day, which is strange seeing as I hadn't changed anything in his feeds? He didn't go for a whole day 2 days ago, the only thing I can think of is because of his needles last week

Have a great weekend everyone :D

Hi everyone

Tabby - Glad you are loving your rocker - it sounds similar to the one I have for Coops (Fisher Price - linkadoos) which vibrates and rocks and can be used when he is a toddler (great value for money me thinks!). I've been putting Coops in a singlet and wondersuit and then wrapping him with a muslin wrap and covering him in a sheet. Because its still a bit warm I put the fan on him til I go to bed - seems to work.

LukeandMattsMum - I can't make this meet but I would be interested in any future meets.

Sugar - have fun at the wedding this weeked - you deserve a break! Thank god for mums huh!

Hels - How cute must your boys look fast asleep together! Re the bassinette and cot I will be putting the bass in the cot to get him use to the bars and sense of openness etc. Hopefully he will be fine!

Cordelia - hope your attacks ease off once IL's go home. :hugs:

Cat13 - I wouldn't stress too much re routine - we don't really have one and we're going ok!

Karrina - Coops has a happy baby too and I seem to have the same problem with little hands knocking it out of his mouth! He had a Nuk dummy but he kept spitting it out but that might be cause it was and orthodontic one and a weird shape! Re gym - I'm trying to get there but its not really happening! :hugs: for today for B being trouble

Acacia - Coops also seems to have problems with pain and pooing so I will be interested in seeing if anyone has any helpful hints. I've given him grape juice mixed with water once when he was really consitpated and that helped but everyday he seems to be in pain.

For those who were talking about the circle of hair on our bubs head my SIL who is a nurse said that all babies should have this as it indicates normal brain development while in the womb.

Us - well Coops must be going through a growth spurt cause he slept well yesterday and then again today! This morning he was so tired he even had a dreamfeed at 10am in morning! Very unlike the last week or so when all he did was fight sleep! Hopefully we settle down with our sleeps now :fingerscrossed: We are off to Casino this w/e for Coop's GreatGrandPa's 80th b'day so that should be interesting! I know I'm not going to see him much at all as he will be stolen off me! Weird cause I feel jealous when I see other ppl with him but then I complain that I want a break too - oh well!

Anyways off to watch the footy. Hope everyone has a great weekend and I will catch up on Monday!

Cheers, Shaz:-)

Hels: Shes doing well so far AR but will update you more in a few days. The consistency seems to not be as thick as when I mixed but seems to work better! Its very frothy. Shes hardly brought up anything today and today was a full day on it, but time will tell, ill know by tomorrows end because if 2 days without much sick is a first for her even on thickener was the odd upset or two.
7 scoops??? wth? lol
promo was till 6th of july and 40,000 available, whichever is first so a bit of time. cheers for that let me know when have a couple and ill pm addy again if dont have it pm still?

Was going to try the sleeping bag with just nappy singlet but its too thick! Going to have to see what can find shopping tomorrow.

Shazza: yep we use a fan too and I turn it off before I go to bed but by 3 am shes unwrapped. Im not even sure if its the cold that wakes her really...No other idea why always 3am ish
have fun at the Cas! ah yes know that feeling of others ( except DP ) holding her, I look forward to the break but when I get it I want her back! lol
love your avatar by the way!

ah Katies in bed so a nice quiet movie time I think

lots of sleep vibes to all mums n bubs!

Tabby - I said to DH about using the Karicare AR and that it would only be 4 scoops and he asked how big are the scoops? Good question I thought. The Nan scoop is 4.4g, do you know what size the Karicare is? I suppose it's the total amount of powder that counts and not how many scoops lol. Could be an advertising ploy, you think you are using less but really it's the same.

R didn't go to bed until 12 pm last night, naughty mum and dad :shame: He woke at 6.30am. I have taken the opportunity to get up early and do some bookwork (so why am I on here? ). We are going to bring his bedtime forward to around 8.30-9pm starting from tonight and see if that helps him sleep through.
Once that is established I will look at changing the formula (as I still have 3 tins of nan left). Then I will look at moving him to his cot. So it will be a big week for changes here.

Better get off here and start my bookwork I suppose

Hels: oh yes forgot about that lol. This scoops is a little bigger than the hienz one, how did you find out the weight? Its probably about 2 mm deeper.
It probably works out the same for us cost wise, was $30 with buying thickener and formula and is $24 this way. Even if I use a day sooner Ill still be better of and is much easier and convenient.
and seems to work great! weve had so little sick its just lovely. Unless I bounce/dance with her that is lol
My tin of heinz, at her having average 150mils is just over 1 week.
How come no matter what the bed time they know the same wake time????! I thought as she went to bed a little later at 830 instead of 730 that I might get a bit longer this morning...nope 6am lol
Also how do they know its time to sleep through and not just a nap??
I lay at night thinking too much I think lol

Katie has just found out she can make some more cool noises, grunting ( keep looking but she smiles as alls ok lol ) and now growls and frowns, was very funny last night her growling at us then smiling
:fingerscrossed: It works for you tonight with the bed time routine :D

Found it Karicare = 8.1g scoop $24.99
heinz = 7.3g scoop $14.99 (thickener $15.95) total $30.94
So not a huge difference for me but yours is.
They should have to be a standard size!

Morning everyone,

Sierra had her needles last night :crying: She didnt like it at all. She was very upset and her cry was the loudest its ever been but still quiet suprisingly. She had 3... 2 in one leg and 1 in the other leg. But happy that its out of the way now though. She slept from 8.30pm til 7.10 this morning :smiliedance: Was very happy about that and i feel so much better that i got a good sleep, even though i did go to bed at midnight.
I also saw my GP and he thinks my pubic bone has seperated from my pelvis and thats why i've been getting all the pain... he prescribed so anti inflammatories, so hopefully they help abit. He said theres not much you can really do except do some exercises and stretching etc. We'll see how it goes.
Not much happening here today... DH is working til lunchtime and then i have lots of grocery shopping to do lol. DH is going to the footy tomorrow with some clients from work so looks like its going to be a quiet weekend for me.
Hope everyone has a great day

Wow your formula is heaps more expensive than what I pay. I got the Nan HA for $16.95 per tin, admittedly it was on special but the normal price is $17.95 from the chemist ($22.95 in Coles). The thickener is $9.95.

The Karicare AR is $19.95!

I'm not really going to save much $$ on the Karicare vs the Nan;

7 scoops of Nan @ 4.4g per scoop = 30.8g in 210mls water.

4 scoops of Karicare @ 8.1g per scoop = 32.4g in 200mls water.

What I will save $$ on is by not buying the thickener. Plus it's less messing around.

Tabby, went straight to the sleeping bag from the wrap. Gave up wrap because such a fight to get him wrapped. Seems to have no problem sleeping through the night in his bag (but cold is not much of a prob here, all he is wearing inside his lightweight bag is a nappy!). Not sure about falling to sleep on his own in it since I've been feeding to sleep. We do feed, play, bath, into grobag, lights out, feed to sleep in rocking chair in his room and then into his cot for the night by around 7pm.

Hels, we used to have a number 2 after every feed here. Now not every feed but still up to 4 or 5 a day, but only 1 or 2 will be a really big effort. Sometimes it seems to hurt him to push it out but others he smiles right through?

Dh's bday today so off now to go for a drive and find somewhere off the beaten track for lunch.

Good weekend to all.

Thickener 9.95!!!! jeeze and I had looked around too and couldnt find cheaper
Today we are going check out the Kari ar though as we got from a random chemist so hopefully a bit cheaper elsewhere.
yours is like $5 cheaper on all.
