View Full Version : Throwing up Blood - Sorry if TMI
Just a quick question that is pretty gross! I am 11 weeks pregnant and I have had m/s since I was about 6 weeks. It is pretty bad, I have been feeling awful. But it has died down a bit and now I am only :barf: in the mornings. However every morning for about 2 weeks now I am :barf: up blood. It started off just a tiny bit but it has increased a little bit in the last few days. It is not only blood of course, I am throwing up that horrible yellow stuff and a little bit of blood in it. And when I spit in between :barf: that it mainly blood. I am pretty sure it is from my throat which is sore and scratched from vomiting so much. But my question is, could it possibly be something else? Or is a little bit of blood normal when ya vomiting every morning?
I have just been feeling a little concerned this morning.
Thanks in advance.

hunny i am 23 weeks pg and still having this!!!!
Every morning I either bring up bile in the shower (that yellow stuff) or I end up throwing up in the basin just after I get out. Some mornings I get spots of blood in it, I told my cousing who is a nurse and she said its from the throat, alot of work happening in there when your body is throwing up and basically not to worry if its just spots. I am the same as you though, I end up spitting and theres little dots of red in there...... :( (horrible isnt it).
Good luck with the ms, it must be finishing soon for you (fingers crossed).
Thanks for that! Yeah I hope it finishes soon. I had m/s with my DS as well, that lasted 4 months. But I dont remember any blood although I probably did have it. It feels so long ago!
I thought it must be my throat but it is comforting to know I am not the only one that has it.
I am just so paranoid about everything! Oh well in a week I will be over 12 weeks and I can relax a bit!
Thanks again!

i have had m/s the whole way through with all three pregs and bits of blood. its a burst blood vessel in your throat from throwing up so often. you can get some maxalon from your dr if you need it. The yellow stuff is bile
Hi, I really hope your morning sickness passes soon. I had it all day and night from week 6 right up until after my daughter was born. At 7 months I still didn't look pregnant as I'd lost so much weight. Maxolon made me worse and i tried just about everything suggested to me from acupunture to ginger. The one thing I did find helpful was to suck on icy poles. I hope you start to feel better soon. I was housebound from 4 months as I couldn't go anywhere without a bucket so I really sympathise with how awful your feeling.

i was just about to say that, dont worry it's normal! :fingerscrossed: ur m/s eases up for good soon!
Thanks for your replies girls. I am hoping it eases soon too.
Olismum that sounds terrible, I couldnt imagine going through this for so long! I had m/s for 4 months with DS but not the whole way through my pregnancy!
This morning seemed a little bit better than usual. I had hardly any of the spots of blood and I didnt need to rush to the toilet. I took my time getting there and then I stood there and went "Am I going to or not..?" and then it came but it wasnt as bad a usual so I am hoping this means it is starting to ease up a bit. Hopefully I havent spoken too soon! :fingerscrossed:
Thanks again girls, you have been a huge help.
Hi there, I can sympathise aswell.... I am 25w and still throwing up blood!
It's getting better, not always everyday, but pretty close to.
Hope your's settles soon.
I think I am going to be an unlucky one who has it the whole way through.
Doesn't worry me anymore..... almost comforting!! lol
Good luck

Sometimes blood in vomit is caused by ulcerations or gut problems. I'd be seeing my doctor for this, just to be reassured.

I too vomited blood in my pregnancy. I had Hyperemisis so I vomited every day from week 6 to delivery:barf:
I completely freaked out the first time it happened as it wasnt just spots, it was a great big gush (gross, I know). I went to the ER and they said it was probably just from vomiting so much (some days over 20 times!) I waited there for 3 hours and still hadnt been called so I told them I was going home to bed.
I ended up having a beautiful healthy girl and the vomiting stopped straight away.
I really hope you get better soon and dont end up like me!!
i reckon you should consult your gp if you are vomiting blood
It's quite normal and apparently does not do any harm. When your constantly dry wretching and there is nothing in your stomach its not unusual to vomit blood, i wouldnt worry.
