Up to when my dd was about 3 she would frequently suffer from nightmares. It was strange because she wasn't really awake and I couldn't console her.
She would just scream and cry and kick and she seemed really awake and afraid. After about 15 minutes of this she would eventually calm down and go to sleep again.
Has anyone experienced these night terrors and if yes what did you do?

Lillya does that a bit, I usually leave her to it.

After their moments they just go back to sleep, a few times though I've had to rock her back to sleep.

As they get older comfort in a way that suits them...

I remember being about 5yo and really bad nightmares I have no idea where they came from, but mum used to make me a cup of cordial that I'd scull and fall back to sleep.

I'm sure mum tried a lot of different techniques, so every child will have their own thing.. Apparently for her the hardest one to break was me crawling into her bed :o
