I have just realised that I have put this in the wrong section! Sorry guys! Not sure how to move it???

Finally some relief! If you can call it that!
In one of my previous posts re the 12 month shots our daughter had these done about a week and a half ago, she was fine for 5 days after but on the sunday she developed flu like symptoms, last night was one of the worst we have had in many many months.
This morning when she got up from what little sleep she had she was hysterical and very annoyed with the whole world so I called the Dr. and it turns out she has a horrible middle ear infection!
I say relief as I was starting to think there was something seriously wrong with her!!!

Has anyone else been thru middle ear? How long does it last? What causes it? I didnt have time to ask the Dr all the questions as just wanted to get out of there to get the medicine for her!
Also what little internet surfing I have done today I have read that giving anitbiotics (spelling?) too often is bad.
That milk intolerance can cause it as well?
Or that having a bottle whilst laying down is bad? When she has the bottle she lays on my lap and is propped up on a pillow and I give her the bottle (its our mum and daughter time). So no milk actually gets into her ear or that kind of stuff.

Any info or feedback from those of you who have been thru it would be greatly appreciated!

....and i thought it was a reaction to the shots!

Hi!
My DD is just getting over a middle ear infection herself. About a week before she had started to go off her food so I had a feeling she was coming down with something.
She ended up with a terrible cold and it went to her ears.
I took her to the doctor as she had a horrible chest cough. I thought of all things she'd have a chest infection. But it turns out it was her middle ear.
The Dr said they can easily get it from a cold as the mucus drains from the sinus' to the ear.

She was put on antibiotics which lasted a week. She had been quite grizzly with it (a little throwing up during the night also from all the mucus) but she started to feel a lot better pretty much straight away!

Has the dr given your antibiotics? If not, I'd get them for her! Ear infections can be very serious if not treated! They can turn into an absis (sp) and ultimately permanent hearing loss! (my mum is deaf in one ear due to this!)
I don't want to take any chances with my little ones ears! This is her first lot of antibiotics - I don't know if yours has had any for anything else but I personally wouldn't hesitate in giving them to her! It's not like she'd be on it for a long time or anything - and middle ears are extremely painful! (just watch that she doesn't have a reaction to the antibiotics, ie, rashes, vomiting, diarrhea etc - contact the dr straight away if this occurs).

As for milk intolerance, I don't know about how that would cause anything - check with your dr about it. It sounds like though, you are giving her a bottle ok!
Just becareful also at bath time not to get any water into the ear. In about a week, it'll all clear up! :)

Hope that helps a little!
I know what it's like! Hope she gets better soon!! :hugs:
