I know you're not meant to wear tampons after having a baby because it can lead to infection, but how long do you have to wait?
I had my son 3 1/2 weeks ago and I dont have heavy bleeding anymore, just brown stuff (sorry if TMI). I hate wearing pads, especially in this heat, can I start using tampons now? Or is it better to wait until I get my periods back?

Not long, according to the obstetrician I saw after having DD#1 and DD#2,
I'm a compulsive lap swimmer. After each birth I asked how long I'd be out of the water, and was basically told that as soon as I could keep a tampon in place (pelvic floor muscles), I could start back swimming. Keep in mind though, that I was only using the tampon for an hour or so while I swam, then went back to pads again afterwards. I was fortunate that I had no stitches or tears, though.
I was home from hospital on the Friday, tried a tampon for an hour and a half on the Sunday, and started back swimming on the Monday.
I was always told after the magic 6 week mark.:)
I waited until until the 6 week mark too, then on my next period used tampons

I used them about straight away, but only when going out shopping or something, as i hate the thought of VPL (not visible panty line, visble pad! LOL). Just hate pads in general.......

I hate pads too.
I started using tampons about 4wks after my dds birth and had no problems at all.I had stiches but they had dissolved by then.I think whenever you feel comfortable.
