Have you ever had a DHA inspection? (apart from all the ones during a move).
We have never had any during the year, and I was wondering if its the same for everyone?

Never through the time of actually living in there, only the pre move in one, where they are so anal about the serving member being there:rolleyes: , no friggin' idea that place...but back on topic, then the ones they do at removal time, before and after you move out. Don't think they worry too much about doing standard inspections because they know they can recover costs for any damage/neglect straight from serving member's pay.

Hi There

Yeah we have an inspection every year. Have you never had an annual inspection??

Mainly they just make sure that everything is in working order, and your happy with everything, and if you need any work done on anything you can raise it then. Thats about all they do in the annual ones.

Where do you live?? We have had 3 postings, and each location over the 6 years we have had an inspection each year, including the moving in/out ones

We lived in 2 DHA properties in Sydney, and one on the Mornington Peninsula and never had any inspections other than the ones I mentioned above. Weird that it varies, hey?

Hi, we've had an annual valuation inspection where the DHA valuers come out and inspect the house to make sure that it's at the correct rental cost for the area and I have heard that DHA houses which are leased from private investors and not owned by DHA are inspected once a year by the owners, like a normal rental is, but other than that we've never had any other kind of inspections.

Nope, we have never had any inspections, apart from posting ones.
We lived in 2 different houses at Puckapuyal and they never came to check up on us.

Now we are in NSW and I think that this house might be privately owned (not too sure). I guess that means that we might have an inspection later this year.

Hi I'm new to this forum...I'm Salina and posted with my ARA hubby to Melbourne Metro. We are in a defence leased home and were told when we moved in that the owners liked to inspect yearly.
We had an evaluation for rent about 4 months ago (our rent went up $10) and a yearly inspection last week by our DHA property manager. It was mainly for identifying maintainance issues. We didn't have any inspections at all last year. Next door is a defence owned home and they had their inspection today after being in for 12 months.
I know from getting things fixed in this house though, I will be very cautious in the future about picking a home that is DHA leased and not owned. It has been an absolute nightmare getting things done, the owners have dragged their feet on everything that has obviously cost money.
Look forward to joining in on some more chats as they arise......

Maybe our house is defence owned then?? We got our toilet, a light and drawer fixed straight away.
We did have issues at Pucka with a brand new house though. They built the garden right up to the front door, so the only way to go inside was between 2 pillars about 90cm apart! The pram would not fit.

I had a huge fight with someone from DHA - she told me that they wouldn't fix it and I had to live with it because I picked that house!
I got very mad with her and asked her boss to come and visit me personally. They did and the concreting was done the next week.

Cant wait til DH retires and we buy our own house.

Tootiredtosleep - that just seems WRONG to me... If its a DHA house then they have to pay for all repairs etc? Hmm - weird...

They do have to pay for all repairs, but how long it takes them to do it is another thing, we reported a roof leak in october, it was in January when the roof collapsed on my eldest daughter resulting in surgery that they repaired it...yet they never found out why it was leaking, so we're waiting for it to happen again.

Love ya DHA
