I had had a emotionally stresfull pregnecy with a DH that was more of a hinderence than a help. He seemed to think i should of been capable of doing everything i did before i was pregnant as when i was 7 months, I now know why they say to take it easy.
I was 34 weeks pregnant when i went to the bath room i noticed i was a little wet, I DH what it was like when my waters broke(he has other kids) he said there would be a big gush so i didn't think much of it. It was a week before I noticed a change I was leaking more than i had been, so i rang the midwives at the hospital who inturn told me it was nothing to worry about. My mother being a nurse her self told me to call back and push the subject, i went in for a checkup that day.
The doctor did a internal to see what was going on, she said my membrains may have ruptured but there was not enuf excess fluid to tell. I was then admited into hospital, I had a moniter on by baby's heart beat every 3 hrs & I was sent for a ultra sound to measure the amount of fluid around all appeared to be fine but i was still leaking. On the 3rd day I was discharged and sent home to be treated as a out paitent, my mum picked me up and told me my sister in law was in labour at the hospital in the city. I went to visit her and my neice that afternoon, I nursed my neice for 10 mins before going to the bathroom where i found out that i had spot bleeding. I rang my hospital spoke to the midwife told her i had just been discharged and what had happened, she told me i had nothing to worry about and tryed to brush me off. I insisted on speaking to my doctor who told me to come back straight away, I was put back onto the moniter where my baby's heart beat droped below 90.
I was told I would be enduced and was going to have my baby, at the same time she said because the baby was premy she may be put into a humidy crib and fed through a tube.
I was in labour for half a hour & my waters where broken, I asked the nurse was it normal for the heart beat to drop below 90 when i contracted, she didnt answer. The doctor came in and explainde i was going to be preped for a emergency c section, I was terrified my brother had lost his daughter due to neglect/doctors error 5yrs ago so all that was running through my mind was somthing was going to go wrong.
What was suposto be a magical, painfull, happest day of my life turned into the most traumatic day of my life. Tears would not stop flowing from my eyes on top of everything my DH & I where arguing while all this was going on. In surgery the doc explained every thing that would happen it felt very weird some one pulling at my insides i could feel it but it wasn't painfull.(i watched them from the reflection in the silver on the light). All of a sudden i heard my baby the doc held her up ova the green screen for a second then rushed her to a table where they cleared her breathing passages. My baby was fine and healthy only weighing 4p15oz 2.24kg so she did not need a humidy crib the feeling iwhen i saw my baby was so overwhelming and wonderfull it was unexplainable.
The doc told me later that i didn't have much fluid when she broke my waters and that the umbilical cord was around her neck which was why she was distressing when i contracted. she also said she didn't no what would have happened if we didn't deliver her then & there. My neice and my daughter arrived on the same day luckly they where boath happy and healthy.:smiliedance:
