Hi everyone....nothing serious here but I do have a horrible cold! I'm 30 weeks and my 3 year old has been kind enough to pass on a runny nose, headaches, sore throat, dry horrible cough to me! I have been taking panadol, I don't really like to but have felt pretty bad and the only way I can sleep or get through the day is with some panadol. Does anyone have any remedies that we are allowed to take?? The cough is pretty bad (annoying) and the stuffy nose too...any suggestions natural or other would be greatly appreciated...

Get yourself some Fess nasal spray. It is only saline, but with it being a spray, gets into those hard to reach places:D Helps to clear a snotty nose...

I find homeopathy absolutely brilliant for colds and sinuses. I had never used it before I got desperate in my 2nd pregnancy and I have never bothered to go back to the other stuff. I find the over the counter stuff from the pharmacy pretty good.
Garlic is good for sinuses.

For the cold itself start taking Vitamin C and garlic tablets (daily recommended dose on bottle).
For the sore throat try rubbing some Tiger balm on your neck in the area that is sore (it seems to draw out the ache in sore throats?) - sounds weird, but it works!! I never get past the first day of a sore throat now.
Also, if it is not too hot put a heat pack on your neck after the tiger balm is on, very soothing!
Not too sure about the cough, see if your local chemist has a homeopathic remedy for coughs?
Plenty of rest (if possible) - get well soon!! :) :)

From 5 flus/colds not sure during pregnancy I tried everything.
Fess spray didn't work for me, but it apparently works for a lot of others? Still got the bottle! lol

I had to call my dad at 11pm to check his Mims book, apparently Coldral is fine to take, but only the normal ones - not night ones etc. Always read the back for those details.
Also I loved Lemsip (apparently you can add as much sugar as needed, so it became my morning drink!), but you can't take any panadol for about 4 hrs after (normal recommendations on panadol between times to take it etc).

Normal Panadol is fine too, but keep the dosage lower then normal ( I only had one tablet each time and would only take one about 5 hrs after lemsip and half hour before bed to help sleep).

More natraul remedies I know, soup... so traditional but it works wonders for me. Garlic, why does garlic work? I just used to made a spag bog and overload it with garlic (helps that I love the stuff).
Or check out health shop, they usually know whats going on and if you've tried other things tell them what doesn't work... :)

Yep get garlic tablets not only do you not have the smell on your breath but its easy to ingest than a clove of the stuff IMO !
I used to use slippery elm bark tablets ( i think thats the name ) for sore throats it was my magic potion back when i was younger & had dramas with tonsillitis & my partner always swears by "Irish Moss" for coughs you can get it at the supermarket & its a herbal remedy also but you may need to check that both are ok through pregnancy.
Otherwise vitamin C as Peaceangels suggested is always good or a glass of OJ of a morning i found was good also.
Just try & stay rested as much as possible. I know easier said than done but your body will fight it off easier if you rest when you can.
