Hi everyone, just wanted to let y'all know, "The Human Body" is being shown on Channel 10 on Saturday nights (6:30 I think - please check local TV guides :) ) and this week it's the Conception-Birth episode.
I watched the series when I was pregnant with Vallerie, and I always thought this episode would be a great way to teach kids how babies are made... so I'm watching it with Vallerie this time. But I can't remember if it has any "explicit" sex scenes in it... I won't mind if there's some "subtle" ones, ie mummy and daddy under the covers having a "special cuddle", but I'm not sure if I want Vally to see naked people having sex...... Does anyone remember what the "sex scenes" are like in it??

And before you say it, our VCR has crapped itself so I can't tape it. [On a somewhat-related topic, when I told DH that he MUST ABSOLUTELY buy me a romantic loving present this Christmas, he thought about it for a few days then said he'd get me a new VCR.... the first one was the gift I got for our first Christmas LOL :smacks forehead: ]

Great thanks for the heads up will definately tape it (I'll be at work till 2am)
I don't think it would have any sex scenes in it as the time it is on they aren't allowed to show anything like that before 9:30 pm, so I'm sure it'll be fine for your V to watch.

Thanks Kris, yeah I didn't think they'd have any reeeally graphic stuff, but my pregnant brain wasn't working that well yesterday

Devonmouse wow 84548 times LOL but I reckon I'd be watching it all the time if I had it on DVD (hey maybe I should suggest that to DH for my gift!!! Or, maybe I should just buy it myself, and label it to me, from him, like I do on valentines day  )

Cosmic, have fun at the party!! I'm supposed to be going to an old friend's birthday party tomorrow night, and I haven't told any of that circle of friends that I'm pregnant... so it should be interesting (they're all still into the 'party hard, get wasted, drive home drunk, take drugs' etc etc )

I just know I will cry when watching it... I get all emotional about stuff like this while I'm pregnant! Thinking about it right now,

I have flashbacks of watching it in Biology class in year 11... I found it interesting if a little scary because it really does show it "As is" and not like I remember from the Where did I come from (http://www.screenmedia.net/boxart/WheredidIcomefrom.jpg) video...

I am soooo annoyed, after reading this thread and everything, my preg brain has struck and I for some reason thought that it was on at 7:30pm.
Got all organised, even got my child to sleep in time, and there was Godzilla or some rubbish.
So mad at myself!

Oh, you'll be right.;)
I've seen it about 100 times before, we got it out when I was preg with O, but you can never get sick of watching it.
It really amazes me how complex it is just to keep us going day to day, let alone make a baby.
Miracle.;)

I cried too *sniff sniff* that moment when she finally got the bubba in her arms.... Vallerie was glued to the TV and I could see her little mind ticking away :D

Cosmic, I think the female brain is somehow programmed so that once we've given birth, we totally forget about that pain (otherwise, we'd all have just one kid!!) because I didn't even think about the pain when I was watching it. I was just getting all nostalgic remembering when they brought Vallerie up onto my chest and we saw her beautiful face for the first time, and I started crying (as I am now  ) and when I was watching that tonight I was soooo excited thinking that soon I'll be doing that all over again and holding this little one in my arms.

oh I'm seriously bawling now, the emotion, the hormones...... (also, I'm craving salad dressing - is this normal??:p )

I must admit the moment she pulled that baby up onto her chest and cried a little I remembered what it was like to hold that baby for the first time ever, it was pretty damn emotional.

It was pretty amazing, I was in the shower so DH taped the last bit (birth) and let O watch it  I think that freaked me out more LOL lucky for us O wasnt interested in it he kept wanting to tackle me instead! (maybe he senses an intruder/new baby on the way!)

When I watched it I did kind of wince when the head came out (remembering that was a bit painful  ) but then I got all teary and looked at DH and said "lets have another one" LOL are we crazy!

DH got out all O's baby hospital pics and went through them (so men get teary too huh!)

Everytime I see it I alwasy think my god she is pushing so hard when the head is half way out and nothing is happening and then pop and I say out loud "ohhhhh gooodddddd" LOL I am sure once I am there I will be saying something other than that knowing my potty mouth :D

last time I was in a hospital I chucked that big of a tanty. ROFL.
I was too old for Tanties too, I was 12. But I'd had enough of their vegemite soup :D

I'm the queen of tangents aren't I... your reminded me because I was I tantying the kid in the bed opposite to me was saying "SAY PLEASE NICOLA!" (lol the tanty was because I got appendecitus on my SCHOOL FRIKKEN HOLIDAYS and mum told me she'd be taking me home that afternoon, but then had to tell me that they wouldn't let her... oh boy was I upset)

LOL vegimite soup *barf*

I am sure I will swear, well I want to :p

I have heard 3 women give birth in the past month on my trips to the birth centre and they all sound like they aren't screaming in pain, more like they are just breathing sounds, if that makes sense, guess the grunting is similar O's mum.

Yep I think you just dont have the energy or the will to scream LOL the heavy breathing and grunting and the eeeeee sounds are all good LOL it means your doing a good job :)

That said if you feel like screaming then do it LOL who could blame you!

Good luck girls, you wont need it though labours a breeze ;) keeping the dream alive :D

I thought the same thing and we don't have kids in the house! It was 7.30pm and a camera was up a naked woman's fanny! And what about the ejaculation scene?? I know they didn't show the whole appendage but it was pretty graphic!

my dh was going on and on about the same thing. i pointed out that it is for educational purposes, and that it is at parents discretion whether or not to let their kids watch it, but i did agree with him that it was a bit graphic for such an early timeslot, if you hadnt seen it before and plonked your kids in front of it, it might have made for some ackward moments! (luckily our older to weren't here, and the littlies were asleep, so i didnt have to answer any potentially embaressing questions!):D

I remember when I was in year 11 during that ejaculation scene just recoiling in terror while half the class (girls) went "EEEEEEEEWWW AAAAAAAAAAAAH" and the boys went "YEAH! GO SON!"
