Hi everyone

This is my first time on this forum, but from what I've read so far it seems like a great place!

I found out yesterday that I was pregnant with my fifth child. Yep you heard correctly, I still can't believe it myself. My youngest is only 11 months old (born 11/1/05) so this was completely unplanned! I am excited though, and looking forward to the pregnancy.

As a veteran of the field, I hope I can be of some use to first-time mothers, but I would also like to learn from all of you too. Are there many parents of large families here?

Bye for now...:p

Hi there raffee

Firstly - congratulations on your news ... how wonderful for you and your already large family. The more the merrier I'll bet.

I only have two children .. nothing compared to your brood.

I bet you have alot to offer the first time mums along with those of us adding to our existing ones.

Welcome and again congrats.

Thank you ladies! I feel the warmth of this place already. :D

I forgot to add that based on my last period my EDD is the 12th of August, although I am almost certain that it isn't until about the 26th of Ausgust. Let's just say, I can competently do the math:cool:

Wow a forum for large families, guess this is for me :)

I am expecting my eighth (oh what a long story) now i'm excited and the older kids just thrilled (after the shock) I have found this site to be so useful in building up my self esteem after a very difficult couple of months. I have never seen such unbias remarks. I honestly thought I would be blasted for having so many but no, I was welcome with open arms and made truly welcome, and this I will never forget during a time of doubt.

Many blessings to all

Welcome Raffee!

Moonblossom and Raffee, you both deserve and award and gold medal for having large families!

I struggle with one bub and I admire and respect anyone else who has more than one let alone 5- 8!;)

Why thanks but probably instead of medals the looney bin would be more appropriate LOL

Nah seriously, I find two or more so much easier than one, they entertain each other and dont demand your attention every second.

I am SO looking forward to welcoming this baby into my family I get all teary just thinking about it. My younger ones have been asking for years when i'm having another LOL, spesh my six year old who doesnt want to be the youngest, God bless him :)

One of the loveliest comments I have had about my family is THEY ARE FREE RANGE CHILDREN...LOL. I found that so endearing because I do have a very open view to raising kids, and they have lots of choices, lots of siblings to consult, and they generally get on really well.

My second eldest daughter has gone on hols for five days...and she is sorely missed...Its not the same when their all not here.

I think that's wonderful!

You remind of the movie 'Cheaper by the Dozen' and that looks so cool to have all those kids!

Well my older daughters think i'm a great birth control device. Just hang around my family for a while and you will go running for the pill LOL

But seriously, The older ones have constantly had babies around ...they know how to change nappies, feed, change, care for a baby, and they are in no hurry to have the job pernamently themselves. LOL

I'm proud of them all...

Congrats on expecting number 5!!

I think any more after the third is easy, although my 4th pregnancy was twins! Then when I had my 6th child, after the twins, I could parent her with my eyes closed so to speak.

I have 5 boys and a girl (in that order). mine are 13,9,7,4,4,20months

Thanks guys! And to Alannah'smum thanks for the reassurance. I really need it right now. TanUch, loved your story. Good on you for being so strong. Being only 28 myself, I get those stares and glares all the time, and it really irks me that some people are so ready to pass judgement without any prior knowledge of who I am and what I contribute to society. Sadly there is very little importance given to the role of mothering in society today and I think that is part of the problem. I for one think that mums are wonderful as they are not only contributing to today but leaving a living breathing legacy for the future.

LOL...my daughter says the same thing. She loves babies, but hates kid 4 and up  she's says she's glad she was never one..lol
She says she wishes she was an only child, but when one of her siblings are away for a day or 2 she misses them so much.

Large families are gr8 I'd love to have 8 kids, but DH won't let me :( he says 4 is more than enough.

We are happy with the 6, anymore, and we will need something bigger than the tarago, and I dont want anythign bigger! LOL

And they way the boys are at each other at the moment, I dont think we can handle more anyways. hey dont stop!!! havent stopped for a week now since school holidays started on the 8th Dec!

Hi,

Congratulations on having number 5. I have recently gave birth to my fifth child, nearly 7 weeks ago and I am already planning number 6. I planned to try and conceive again in Feb 07. I have three boys and two girls and hopefully I can even that up. Their ages are 12, 9, 5, 3 and nearly 7 weeks.

Hi all,

I hope everyone had a good christmas. We had a quiet christmas as we got all our chrissie functions out of the way before christmas, so the kids could enjoy the day at home with all their chrissie presents.

Congratulations mum2many on your 7th pregnancy, hoping everything is going alright and not much morning sickness. Hoping you won't get to many negative comments. I am hoping to try again in 12 months time for number 6 but have been told by family members outside of our family of course that I should not have any more.

Good luck in telling everyone Moonblossom. I had trouble telling everyone I was pregnant with Ashleigh and it took me nearly 15 weeks to tell everyone.

Moonbloosom I bet your house is always full of laughter and happiness isnt that the best part of having a large family? just knowing everyone is loved.:p

To mumof4
I want to say that taking on a foster baby when you have 4 children of your own is a very selfless act I wish there were more people in this world like you and your family, with a caring heart and plenty of love to share. Welldone!:)

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hey congrats on the brilliant news. I know how you're feeling. I just had number 5 myself. Big shock. But wouldn't trade him for the world. There's 4 and a half yrs between my 4th and 5th and it's so great to be able to spend the time on this one as my others were toddlers when the next one came along. I absolutely love love love love having a large family and although it is financially easier with one or two bundles, for me I would not understand life without the nappies, swimming, football, constantly full clothes line and fridge too large to fit into the kitchen. I'm sure anyone with a large family would appreciate the funny side of the large family lifestyle. When we get in the car I do a roll call as were driving off, just in case one slipped past without me seeing.

This is for mumof4boys...Don't know bout how you get a girl but I wanted to tell you bout a lady at my kids school that just had her 6th child. She had a girl and the first 5 were boys. She was absolutely thrilled. You cannot wipe the smile off her face. She does love those boys so so much though and I'm sure if it was another boy it wouldn't have been bad news. But I'm sure she was glad they kept trying. Good luck.
