Congratulations on making that decision.
Just curious as to how much $ that would be per cycle? Would they charge for the actually insemination & donation separatly or as one?

Good for you! Proves we have evolved well past needing those pesky males that just leave their shoes lying around for a child to chew on ... :D
Are you going to be aiming for any month in particular or just when you're all set up?

its $1289 per cycle, but after you hit your medicare safety net it goes to around $150 a cycle. they said after 2 cycles you will be at the safety net. oh and they have a once off fee of $485 for the testing they need to do and stuff before you go ahead.
the semen itself is free(its illegal to buy in aus)
Oh, Ok. Well thats pretty reasonable.
Good luck with it all! Keep us posted huh!?:hugs: xxx

good on you for not letting that stop you....
of course, if between now and then I meet a fantastic loving guy who wants more or his own kids, I may re think things. but Im not going to wait til its 'too late' KWIM and regret it. i really want at least one more.

do you mind if I ask how old you are?

things have come a long way.. same sex couples can access donors as can singles. there are no reasons why either cant.
I dont need a man to complete me, and if I cant find one who wants the same things as me and accepts my 2 kids as his own, why should I give up on my family because of that? KWIM?:)
oh and im almost 23. so i will be 25 when and if a baby is born
thanks. I cant help but think you have more to say, you can PM me if you want :)
oh and thanks everyone else for not judging me, and for your well wishes :D

Congratulations emevity!
I have made some enquiries myself regarding donor sperm and insemination. Apparently Adelaide is the only state that dosen't do it. Can I ask what state you live in?
Also wondering do you have a choice which donor you use? Do you have to find him yourself or do they provide the sperm?

Thanks for that:)
If I went down this path I would definately prefer an anonymous donor
All the best to you TTC:thumbsup:
thanks hun :)
the way I see it, (and pls dont think I am nasty, but its easier to explain this way) its cleaner and safer than having casual sex to fall pregnant and I would prefer to not fall pregnant to someone who doesnt want the baby, or who causes problems for the rest of the babies life etc.
the last thing I want is to have a baby whose father doesnt/didnt want it. :(

Annnnnnnddd why would we judge you?
You are Mother eager to be another Mother to another beautiful child, hey maybe more. :)
There are so many Mother's out there that play the role of the Mother and the Father, maybe not by choice, but it works, even Dad's handle this double role.
I can't wait to hear more! :hugs:

As I said before Emevity...I think it is great...if this is what you want ...go for it:thumbsup:
I know I would probly be doing the same thing if I did not have my wonderful DH as I would not want to miss out on having the presious gift of a child....
Good Luck
Helen
Are you planning to start trying to concieve in November 2008 then or November this year?

I've done some heavy editing on this thread.
Please keep your comments positive and on-track.
Emevity is sharing something here with all of us. It would make more sense to give her our support and learn something in the process than being negative and off-track.

I think I'm a bit sheltered, I thought that only happened in the movies! I guess I never had to think about it before.
I think its fantastic to have that opportunity!
