Okay so for the millionth time I have started a "diet", and am counting calories.
So I need some inspiration from you....what is your fave diet food? Or healthy food?
My fave food of all time is Chinese, but that is not very healthy...
So my new fave is MOUNTAIN BREAD:thumbsup: it is yummmoooo

So what is your fave?

I love jalna yoghurt's. I think there are some other low fat brands sweetened by fruit too. Delicious. I can't stand artificial "diet" yoghurt's. They taste nothing like yogurt should!

I blend a can of chickpeas, a small amount of tahini, lemon, arlic, salt and pepper together and dip raw vegies in it. Yummy

And another staple is snakatas nacho cheese. I use them as a base for my nachos.

The flavoured ricecakes are yum! Especially the rock salt and balsamic vinegar! they taste just like salt 'n' vinegar chips - you don't need to put anything on them, but can put a bit of avocado or a smeal or philly cream cheese as a treat

rowie, if you want the yoghurt lowest in calories, the lowest I have discovered in Yoplait NO FAT. A 200gram tub of yoghurt contains TWO Servings.

For most lite yohurts, there's a minimum of about 180 Calories per tub. With Yoplait No Fat, there's only 90 Calories for the one tub. So you can eat whole tub but only have 1/2 the calories.

Also try some Nestle Diet Mousse - about 70 Calories for the Chocolate one.

The Weight Watchers Muffin Bars are REALLY YUM! The K-Time ones are dry and a bit...weird. The weight watchers ones though... they're like REAL muffins! LOVE THEM!

Also like Cottees NO ADDED SUGAR Cordial... it's only like, 1 or 2 calories per glass. I like the Rasberry one best.

Cheese - Mainland Edam cheese has about the same amount of Calories as the Mainland Light Tasty cheese (which is lower in calories than a lot of other lite tasty cheeses anyway).

You can also get LOW FAT hotdogs (I kid you not!) and LITE Peanut Butter. YUM!

A milky way has a bit under 200 Calories too. Sounds like a lot, but compared to something bigger, it's really quite good!

(And 1 M&M has 10 Calories!).

Hope I've helped!

I buy frozen yogurt instead of icecream. You can also get a low fat icecream which I think is yummy.

I also get low fat cream and for nachos I get low fat sour cream.

For salad dressing I use a splash of balsamic vinegar and it is delicious!

I also get low-fat ham (Hunsa I think) and all my meat is lean. I don't like animal fat, skin or bone anyway, so I always just get really lean cuts. Taste a lot better!

All you have to do is make a few switches to lighter alternatives which you hardly notice, and you will see your weight drop. Plus I think they taste better and make you feel less "sluggish" and "greasy" after eating them.

I've recently discovered all the fantastic weight watchers food!

They have hot chips that you put in the oven yourself and they taste exactly the same  the only issue is stopping at the recommended 12 chips

Recently I've been trying to snack on salad and also carrots dipped in light hommus.

SassyMummy I have heaps of low fat yoghurt and one says that it's two servings but thats because it comes with two together. I'm not sure if it's the same one but double check it

And my advice to stay away from:

the new WW baked cheesecake

:barf: :barf: :barf:

I LOVE cheesecake and this was awful. Use a few extra calories on the dairy Farmers lite cheesecake. Your taste buds will love you for it.

Hi there,

I eat nearly all the foods listed but what I have found helps the most is planning your weeks eating in advance. It sounds very boring but it really helps to have only the good food in your fridge - NO TEMPTATIONS hehe. I also have my shopping list done in advance too, I then go online to Woolies and get them to deliever, this stops me from any temptation while I am in the shops. Then the only shops I have to go to are the Fruit, veg and Butchers.

My favourite food is the Nestle Chocolate Mousse that was mentioned before, I have that for dessert of a night and it is only 1 point if you are on weight watchers.

GOOD LUCK
Lizzie

I live in the sticks, so no home delivery here..I have been "planning" this lifestyle change/diet for a while so our house has NO temptations available. I plan my food a day ahead, so I have no chance to snack on something....

Sushi... sushi... and more sushi... love it. I could eat it every day. In fact, I DID eat it every night for dinner for about 3 months, and I lost a ton of weight, maybe 20-odd-kg... went from a size 16 down to a 10/12.

My other fav snacky thing is celery sticks dipped in sweet chilli sauce and light cream cheese. Yum.

I don't really like any of the low-fat frozen pizzas out there. They're gross IMO (pretty much because that have practically no cheese, but are loaded with bland vegetables).

If you want pizza, just make your own. Seafood or vegetarian are the way to go for weightloss - with low-fat mozerella or tasty cheese. Just use like, a pita bread thingo for the base.

Betty Crocker also has a low-fat cakey thing (it says "97% fat free" on the packet - I forget what it is exactly though...). It's still got a fair few calories in it, but it's damned delicious and if you're going to eat cr*ppy food, you might as well go for the one LOWEST in calories/fat that you can.

If you love Nachos, make your own corn chips. Use some flat bread (kebab bread, lavash bread, etc), cut them into little "corn chip" shapes, spray baking tray, spray chips, add some pepper if you want some seasoning (or lite salt even), and then cook for about 15 minutes. WAY less calories and fat than store-bought corn chips!

Get a fab cookbook (or many!).

I really like the Symply Too Good to Be True ones by Annette Sym, because they've got all the nutritional info in them, and they're very simple and easy to follow. It's Australian too, so there's no weird words used... and some of the meals have product specific foods (like "use flora light" or something), so you'll actually be able to get them (if you want - I usually just use the appropriate alternative!). There's 4 books, and I've currently got the first 2... and they're fab! They've even got junk in them like hamburgers, lasagne, chicken and vege pie (which I made last night), choc peppermint rice-bubble slice, nachoes, cakes, biscuits... blah blah blah. That's why I like them (YUM!).

Also enjoy buying Super Food Ideas because they always have a few recipies with nutrion panels in them, so I know what I'm cooking and how much fat it'll put on me. lol.
