View Full Version : Diahorrea & Constipation - should I take him to the Doctor? (poss TMI)

Hi there
For about the last week, my DS has been having diahorrea & constipation alternatively. I mean, one nappy will be runny and the next will be rock hard. He seems happy enough in himself though, not sick or anything so I haven't worried. But the last 2 or 3 nights, he's been off his food and his nappy's have been REALLY runny. The 2 that he's already had this morning have been really mucousy as well.
But like I said, he's still his usual self. I'm just wondering if I should take him to the doctor, or wait and see if it clears up? He has all his teeth, so I don't think the yucky nappies can be because he's teething.
Thanks in advance

I have made an appt with the doctor for Thursday afternoon. I will watch how he is between now and then.

Does he have any problems with dairy?
Has he tried any news foods in last couple of week? I had thought that mucousy dirty nappies usually indictaed some type of allergic reaction.
Hope he feels better soon - it's not very pleasant for bubs or Mum when that happens is it? If only they could tell us exactly what they were feeling hey?

No previous problems with dairy and he hasn't had any new foods in the past week or so.
He also hasn't had another dirty nappy since I first posted the thread.
I'll see how he goes tomorrow.
Thankyou for replying though girls, I really appreciate that you took the time

Id just watch his nappies over the next couple of days. The mucous in it doesnt sound normal...I find that if DS is off his food and has more milk then usual this can cause more of a runny pooey nappy...so maybe cut down on the milk and see if it improves?
How is he going now? has it improved?
Maybe someone else out there has come across to something similar out there.....
:hugs: For Seth!!!
Take him to the drs babe!! For peace of mind:yes: If he hasn't had anything new or isn't "obviously" sick, go get him checked out....
:hugs: Let me know how he goes....

Well the doctor said that he seems fine, but that there is a diahorrea bug going around and he told us to get a special low lactose formula to give him for a few days which should help him to have properly formed poos instead of diahorrea.
:fingerscrossed: it works.
Thanks to those who replied when I needed advice. I really appreciate you taking the time to try and help me.
:smiliedance: Yay!! Seth is okay!! Yay!!!
