Hi all,
Can anyone tell me how I get into family daycare?
I want to stay at home with Tayla now and want to earn some extra cash and I love kids and so does Tayla so thought, why not kill two birds with one stone?
Basically, I want to know what training I need to do and where to start really - can anyone help?

Lu, You could try calling your council or whatever organisation runs the family day care scheme in your area. I think Joondalup council runs a scheme and were advertising an information night a few months ago, and Wanslea Family Day Care covers coastal (Scarborough) and down to Perth. I'll look up the Wanslea site and post it for you, that's who we found Chloe's carer with.

I'm trying to enroll in next semester's courses but the darn uni system is telling me I need a 1st year basic intro to environmental studies course! I've only been working in the field for 10 years!! agggh.
I don't recommend trying to work from home with little ones, unless they sleep alot or you're very disciplined with your time. Depends on the job of course. Family daycare would be a good route to go probably.
Soon as I sort out uni I'll dig out that website for you. You might also have a look at the National Childcare Accreditation site. Actually, that's a good one to find the family day care scheme for your area. I've got that on my favorite I think... just a minute :)

Hey martha!
I found the area and website I need to go to for the south west!
Have to fill out a long application form and I will call them tomorrow to see when the training courses are on!
Don't you hate that - especially with 10 years experience!

National Childcare Accreditation Council (http://www.ncac.gov.au/index.html)website has a search function (at the top of the right side menu) so you can find a scheme for your area. May also have some info on becoming a carer, not sure on that though.

you're too quick for me!
I'm pretty sure there are some other mums on here who do or have done family day care, so hopefully you get some firsthand advice tomorrow.

The spots are there but all crusty and dry now.
She is 100% better and finally was laughing and smiling again today as well as sleeping too!
Is Chloe now sleeping in her bed?

Yes, eventually she sleeps in her bed  This afternoon she went right to sleep for her nap. Tonight though it took over 2 hours. She discovered she could stand on the bed and look out the window. Freaked me out cause I went to check on her and couldn't find her (hiding behind the drapes).
