Hey there,
Another question; by the time little dude gets round to solids I will be the most well-informed-solid-feeding-mum around!
What do you use to puree the food?
Please don't tell me that I am going to have to drag out my enormous blender :)
Gosh that will take you FOREVER!!
You can buy a cheap hand/bar mixer, I used one for DD it was fab and I think you can pick them up for around $20.
Much easier than BIG blender and faster and much less mess than a seive.

I use a hand mixer too. Mix a little water in with the food and in a matter of secs you'll have sludge to feed your baby:p
To clean it, just rinse it under the tap.

KB, would I cook the chicken first?
I thought I might be able to use one of those little hand-held whizzers. Thank you.
Mmmm baby sludge, sounds much better than puree. It has to be really sludgee at the beginning doesn't it?

Please I can't stand it, subtlety is not my forte; I WAS JOKING ABOUT COOKING THE CHICKEN!!
Of course I know that raw chicken is much easier to sieve.
Actually, there are quite a few bush turkeys running around over here...

heya :) I bought and use a $30 stab mixer I got from Kmart... It comes apart and can be dishwashed... works perfectly... It does struggle a bit when I do roast lamb and vegies and veal and vegies :)

I recently bought the MAGIC BULLET as seen on danoz direct and Tvsn on foxtel...
I never thought id buy anything off there, but i did and its the best for every vegetable and meats...:D
I use a stick mixer, but also have a mini food processor I got from K-mart for $20 - black and decker - perfect for baby sized servings of mushy fruit, vegies or anything! (When DD1 started solids we were in the middle of moving and our stick mixer was in storage and I didn't want to buy a second one so got the mini processor and have used it for both girls very happily - a good buy for $20!)

Max's mummy, I can't believe you have the magic bullet!
I watched the ad for it with my dad and Neill and they were going nuts over how good it was! Mum and I were laughing because of the hilarious ad, and over how the boys were getting sucked into it. And now here you are saying it is great! Is it really that good? As good as on tv? I would never hear the end of it if we bought a magic bullet and I loved it!!!!!!!
Thank you everyone for telling me how to make baby sludge!

Yes its a good as the ad makes it out to be....At first i thought nah wouldn't be great, but i was sitting on the lounge all Blah with a 4 week ole' bub and thought what the heck im sure ill need it when he starts solids etc..
I didn't have a blender or food extractor and needed something to make icee's quick smart, so out jumped the credit card and i bought it...
We have made sauces, puree foods for Max, Icee's, Alcholic drinks and much much more all in 10secs or less....LOL!!!
It's a great product and i even bought my MIL and SIL this for their Xmas gift..:o
