I was told by my hospital that I couldn't start till 32 to 37 weeks.
I think thats a bit late but there the experts.
I can't see myself wanting to do classes that late if i'm real big.

We booked into classes when we booked the hospital at 9 weeks, because apparently they book out really early. They recommended starting the 5 week course around week 29, which is what we've booked.

I booked myself (at a 16 wk antenatal visit) in for 32 weeks but could have earlier (i think from 30 weeks?). DH and I are doing ours over a whole saturday instead of a series of night classes.

The enrolment form for the hosp was also an enrolment form for ante natal classes- I declined from doing them as I only did them last April in preparation for Hugh's arrival

Last time I did them though we did the all in one day class- we are from the country and our hospital is 450km away- and I was about 32 weeks.

Ours is really late too - i am due 18 august and doing the course in mid JULY....what if I GO EARLY?

I am considering ringing StVincents and asking for a JUNE class (all day saturday class)

Also doing b/feeding class this weekend - run by ABA so should be the experts!

Ours is from week 32 too. I am due around 14 August, and we start July 3, every week for 4 weeks - last session is the 24th. I work my other job Saturdays, so the evenings were better for us.

When i went to my hospital, they asked for me to go to with ever classes are closest to the 30week mark, iam starting at 25 weeks so at 30 weeks i would have finished them.I dont see why some hospitals wait until 37 weeks, it would drive me crazy being 37 weeks knowing i could pop any second and i havent gone though the classes yet! :D

I must say a lot of what I learnt I'd forgotten about by the time I had Hugh but I did some reading up while I was waiting for him to arrive.
Maybe having them later isn't such a bad thing.

I booked our course when we did a tour of the hospital at week 14. We are booked for the two full Saturdays at weeks 31 and 32.

I didnt do them first time round so not doing them this time

What i will definitely be looking into this time round which i feel would have helped enormously last time is some sort of breastfeeding intensive class. Even though i BF DS for 5 months i dont feel we ever nailed it.

I think the feeding classes are so important

i am doing a class this weekend 1pm-4pm with the ABA and it will have all the important points (i hope) and i also get an annual subscription to the ABA so thats good to have.

With the birth classes, well i have already been doing pre-natal yoga and i am hoping i will remember what 5-6 years of yoga will have done for controling the mind...but who knows.....it might all go out the window, along with (a) my dignity (b) my vagina being in one peice and (c) my ability to hold in words like F*** and C*** when really pushing like hell!!!!

hahhaaha i am more scared about not feeding properly than i am the birth....the birth will happen - its a matter of when and how, all which will be decided by baby and not much you can do about that....but feeding - god what if i get it all wrong and my boobs give up and hurt when i put baby to my bajumbas????

ah the joys!

I was told they book out really early, need to book when you are about 16 weeks. Since i am not getting booked into the hospital until about 24 weeks, i have already booked mine (EDD 23 OR 26.8.07). They recommend doing them between 26-32 weeks. I will be starting mine at about 25 weeks and they said this was ok. We are going for six two hourly sessions.
