View Full Version : Warning about testing too early
Most of you know that I tested on Sunday and it was a faint BFP. Anyway this morning I tested twice and it was BFN. I was reading a friends pregnancy book and it says that if you test before your period is due (I did 5 days before) and a positive result is found followed by a negative the next day or so, then it may mean that conception did occur, but failed to establish into a real pregnancy.
So I haven’t got my period yet (due end of the week), so ill see then. But I doubt much after the two BFN.

sorry to hear about what happened:hugs: that is the danger of testing early, apparently 2/3 fertalised embryos fail to implant:( However, since you are still not due till the end of the week, you may still be:fingerscrossed: Did you use a different brand this time?
I used the same brand, but in-stream, then a diffrent brand mid-stream. Is there still a possibility??? The line was faint yesterday morning and then this morning, nothing!

I had a negative 3 days before I got my faint positive. Don't lose hope.

Hi this happened to me as well the other week i am due on wednesday i was hoping as af only lasted two days last time that it was a possiblity and then i had symptoms. But BFP then BFN the next day this could explain y. Thank you for the info and i will def wait till af is due from now on
I had a positve followed by a negative the next day, so i think it may mean it didnt implant. Thanks anyway.
Sad, cause dh got excited. I wasnt going to test on sunday, only did cause i had a dream i was pregant. Should have waited!

Hey that was pretty much the same i put all the symptoms together and thought what the heck. Then DH actually started to get really excited and asking all these questions. He still is he is planning for the big day anyway
it doesn't mean anyting till the lady in red appears
you said you used 2 different tests today? one of them could've been a dud and different brands of tests detect different levels of HCG, so the different test you did today may test for higher levels and you testing this early there wouldn't have been enough HCG in your urine IYKWIM
test in another couple of days if not wait untill af is due
Thanks, hopefully it wasn't a chemical pregnancy where the test detects it before it miscarrys.
Hi singa06, this sounds like what happened to me too.
I tested Friday with Forelife Ultra Early (5-7day before AF) and got a v.v. faint pos. I tested Sat with the same, and BFN.
Sunday i tested with 2 diff brands; Forelife Ultra and Confirm, and Forelife Ultra was BFN, and Confirm v.v. faint pos.
Monday i tested with the same two brands again, and both v.v. faint pos.
Today i tested with Forelife Ultra and again STILL v.v. faint pos. I also tested with a different Forelife - the Extra (3-4 days before AF) and that has given me the best line yet - but still very faint.
AF is due tomorrow. I should stress the v. v. faint lines are really hardly visible at all. If it wasn't for the fact that DH can see them too, i'd think i was imagining them.
I'm actually quite concerned that there might be something wrong, as you've indicated, because the hormones are clearly not doubling every 2nd as they're meant to, because the lines have not gotten darker - and even the darkest test today, is still REALLY very faint. I'm trying to think positively about it all, but i do have lots of stomach cramps so i'm worried AF is going to turn up tomorrow anyway ... or maybe it's eptopic??? - Would i get a positive result for an eptopic?
Any advice would be appreciated. thanks girls.
Lisa
This is what i found on google:
Pregnancy tests come positive even in ectopic pregnancy.Pregnancy tests are hormone dependent.Hormonal changes are same in any pregnancy.
In my preg book it says that hormone levels may not increase as quickly as a normal pregnancy. If your blood test comes out positive, im assuming you have a ulta sound straight away to determine this.
I have a/f similar cramping and slight pain on right side (bikini line) was BFP sun morning and BFN x2 monday.

generally i've tried to leave it 2 days between testing and compare those lines.
i think one day apart is perhaps not that helpful in determining darker colours.
even the difference between day 12 and day 14 was marginal at best. the difference between day 14 and day 16 though was a lot more noticeable.
Hi Girls,
If i compare the 3 Confirm tests from Sunday, Monday and Today, they do have a very gradual change in colour. (From v.v.v. faint, to v.v. faint to v. faint! LOL!!)
So snake eater i'm going to take your advice, and i'm going to wait until Friday (16dpo) and hopefully it will be substantially dark for me then too.
As for the Ectopic symptoms... of course after i read your post singa06 i googled it too, and the more i read, the more panicked i get. But my cramps are more general (not sharp and shooting) and are definitely across my whole lower belly. They do from time to time feel stronger on one or other side where i imagine my ovaries to be ... but they aren't particularly painful - just enough to be aware that they are there. I don't remember this from DS' pregnancy.
Anyway, now that i'm fully versed in the symptoms i will high tail it to the Dr for ultrasound if i think that it is a possibility. In the mean time, i am just going to presume that it is still too early for the hpts to be particularly dark, and that i am definitely pg and definitely going to be holding a new little bub in early Dec!! :smiliedance: :smiliedance:
I am getting excited about it now, and every now and then when i'm busy doing something else, i "remember" and have a little smile to myself. :D
It's such a delicious experience. Oh, except i have had some definite bouts of morning sickness over the past two days and today - so i'm a bit worried about how bad this could get, as i only had very mild nausea from wk10-wk 14 with DS. But hey, i'm not complaining! I'm taking it as a good sign that everything is doing what its meant to be doing!
Thanks for your advice girls. I appreciate it.
