Grade three.... task comes home from school that reads like this:

"as part of our literacy focus of Letters to the editor, I have asked your children to choose an environment to research, as well as an environmental issue that they need to focus on....."

OMG, I am sure this was not what I did in grade 3 (7 years old) at school.... I don't think I could even spell environmental by highschool :rolleyes: Now she wants to "google" every second of the day!!

So, will my daughter be overtaking me in study by the end of the year?!:o

That sounds almost as good as the homework my son came home with the other day (also in grade 3)..
It had something to do with Blends and Diraphs :confused:
I certainly didn't learn about them at school and I had no clue as to what they were - thank god for google.
(even still - I dont think we got them all correct)
He has also just done 2,3,5,10 and 11 times tables - Gah I didn't even do 11 times tables by highschool.

Guys.....you did do these things.....they just change the names of things over the years to make everything seem new..believe me i was a teacher for 15 years before becoming sahm.....dont stress ..if things are explained properly to the kids they will know what they are talking about. Blends and diagraphs are phonics....ie......bl.....cl sh........tr.......etc.we all did them....hope this helps
