Do you think I missed the egg this month????

Hi Ladies,

Am so bloomin well frustrated!! Don't know what is going on with my body. I normally have a 28 day cycle so thought I would start doing my OPK tests around about CD11. In the beginning I was doing it at the wrong time of the day. Didn't realise that you had to do them in the afternoon. Have been doing them at the right time for the last three days with nothing happening. Started to get EWCM on Tues and now don't really have any at all. So, some EWCM but no positive OPK!!! Could I have missed the surge from doing the test at the wrong time during the first couple of days? We have BD Thurs/Fri nights so if I did ovulate early would I still be able to catch the egg this month? Plan on BDing tonight as well just in case!! What do you think!! Please help me, I am stressing.

Hi 1st Time Mummy, sometimes the LH surge doesn't last very long, so if you are only testing once per day it is possible that you missed the surge. I would suggest that you test twice a day - say around 10am and then again later in the afternoon/early evening.

If you were only testing once in the afternoon, it's possible your surge started at night after you had already tested and was over by the time you took another test in the afternoon.

I have been so desperate to TTC this month. Miscarried in Jan and this is our first cycle back on the wagon. I hope that because we BD for two nights in a row that hopefully even if I had the surge during the night that we still managed to catch the egg!!! Had been using the digital OPK and they are so bloomin expensive. Might have to look into a cheaper brand for next time if I need to. Thanks again, and I will keep my :fingerscrossed: for me as well, but definately not my legs LOL!!

Are you taking your temperatures with a thermometer aswell, that is a good way to see if you caught the egg?

I noticed when I used the opks (fortel ones from coles) I never actually got a darker 2nd line (a positive reading), but I did get faint second lines which I now realise were my surges..... :cool:

I also have a 28 day cycle and sometimes egg came before cd11, so next month (if this wasnt your month and crossing :fingerscrossed: that it is), try from about cd8.....

How dark the line is will also depend on how concentrated your urine is - if you drink lots, paler can still be the surge. I drink 2-3 litres per day, only got pale lines, but got a bub first time we used the OPKs both times.

That was probably what happened with me, thanks..... Anyway as far as I am concerned if theres 2 lines (doesnt matter how faint - like preg tests) then its a positive and bed that man! :D
