hi all

i am new today to the forum...

I have been using cloth nappies with my first bub - now 7 months

no one i know uses these and so i am so happy to find this site!!!!

i have been using flannel fold my own and they are good - having problems finding pilcher/over pant thingys:confused: .

after reading lots on this site i may change over to some new spanky types i had never heard of, but if anyone has a tip on the pilcher waterproof pant issue that would be great.

cheers

you can buy some covers that are just that. most of them can go over the terry flats (from what ive been read and told) i think bummis makes a good wrap, you can also use Berry Plush nappies for a cover. (its a 2 in one if you buy the inserts for it) have to look it up though. check out the enchanted pond, they sell wool soakers, if you lanolise them propery (the site also sells that stuff too i think) you can use them over and over and only have to wash them about every 2 weeks. If you google any of these it should take you to where you need to go

:fingerscrossed: you find something you like

ladies....if any of this information is wrong pls feel free to correct me as u all know, im still a learner at MCN myself :D

i'm a user of cloth nappies, i use the terry towel ones ans just put the plastic pants over the top wich come in packs of three and you can get them from the supermarket or target k-mat big w. every where, i love the snappy nappy's too, they hold the nappy together very well and no pins so no pricked fingers.

I recommend covers made with PUL (polyurithane laminate) because it is both breathable and waterproof (unlike pvc). And lasts so well too- the cheaper ones are kinda 'false economy' in the end compared to these

I used to use pvc pilchers a couple of years ago and since using proper pul covers and wraps, I have never looked back.

Great brands include:
Tots Bots wraps
Bummis Super Whisper Wrap
Motherease Airflow (my fav).

Have a look at the major webstores: The Wee Wuns, Nuture Nappies and Darlings Downunder (there's others too) for these.

And welcome!! Keep asking questions- the girls here are more then happy to offer opinions on different types of nappies. And Nappycino has reviews on most brands too.

thanks, i will certainly keep asking!!

i think the ones i have are made with PUL?? i wasnt sure if there was anything else as it is so hard to find different types in stores. i am going to be an internet junky soon!

if the ones i have are good then my next job is to search the sites people have recommended to find some fitted nappies:smiliedance: .

off to pad up sam for a long car trip with hopefully no blowouts!!:fingerscrossed:

thanks

Where did you get them from Penny? As far as I know, you can't get PUL covers from places like target, kmart, babies galore etc.

maybe they aren't?? they do the job, just not too good around the legs for sloppy newborn poo!!
they are from target

I think the Target ones are PVC not PUL - not as breathable.

There are so many better options than the covers in k mart and Big W and so many better options than terry squares and flannel squares too

Check out
www.modernclothnappies.org (http://www.modernclothnappies.org)
www.ozclothnappies.org (http://www.ozclothnappies.org)

There are heaps of links through them of where you can get modern cloth too.

The covers you get in (real-life) shops are not generally laminated fabric- they are just pvc.
PUL covers have the softest binding around the legs which is great at containing slopping newborn poo! You'd have much more success with these

Enjoy learning about MCN and keep asking questions!!
