Jan bubs - how much does your baby weigh!!

After having problems with by bubba and reflux (apparently she is very far behind other bubs her age ) i was curious to know just how far she is behind !!

i realise that there are other bubs that were early and all, and bubs like mine that are struggling to put the weight on - so this is just for fun to see if the doctors really know what an average baby weighs :yes:

I don't know - maybe we could put down what they weigh at say 2 months and some would be coming up to 3 months ...

so lets say
2 month weight
3 month weight

if someone has a more creative way of doing this please let me know as i am still learning creativity on here .....:eek:

Bossoflatch he was 4.5 at 6wk, so lots of gain in 2 wks. I thought if they were feeding consistently with 6-8 wet nappies a day all was good, thus why the weight chart has not been included in the purple book..so we're not wracked with nerves :) Am sure Tayla is gorgeous!! And will be chubby in time. :wave:

Charis: My purple book has the weight chart! I refuse to add to it though :D. Katie was tiny born and 3 weeks early so of course she will be in the lower percentile. A load of pfftt in my opinion.
Local CN at the chemist said she was a good weight for 3 months, she said they like to see double of birth weight at 3 months. She was 2415. :D

I heard they used that chart in the purple book in the 1960's and that's where the percentiles come from? The reason I say this is coz my little princess doens't even exist according to the chart!! (grumble grumble)

Koby at 7 weeks was 5.6kg

Leisa - My DD was 4.5kg at 2 months (just checked her book) - she weighed 3.4kg at birth. My GP was a little concerned about her slow weight gain so we started her on solids at 4 months, just once meal a day for a few weeks of rice cereal or something plain like apple/pumpkin and she chubbed up at about 6 months.

She is now 2.5yr old. She's always been petite but not skinny.

Sierra was 3.255kg at birth

2 months - 4.270kg

I dont think she is underweight. DD1 was 4.6kg at 2 months & was a pound smaller than Sierra when born, she must have gained weight quciker than Sierra does. DD2 was 4.4kg at 2 months corrective age. My CHN says that she's fine but just on the smaller side of average. DD1 was the same and now shes right on average for a 4 yr old.

6.5kg at 9 weeks

She was 8lb 4oz born (thats 3750g)

Yep she's a bit big for her age - Dr said to keep an eye on her weight gain (how you do that when BF - I don't know???). But she is all in proportion - thats to say she doesn't look fat as she is off the chart in her height as well. I envy you all with the little bubbas as we've grown out of all our cute little outfits already!

Hamish was 3.67kg and 53cm at birth, 5.60kg at 8 weeks and 6.24kg and 59cm at 11 weeks. 75th percentile for weight according to the purple book and 50th percentile for height. I'm pretty happy with that and love those chubba thighs!

Cameron is another littlie....especially since he was a late arrival! Still able to wear some of his 0000 clothes but hot here so all he usually wears is a nappy anyway.

someone said that the charts were from 1960, but they have actually recently been updated. more updates are coming though. i looked at the url listed under the growth chart in my blue book - www.health.vic.gov.au/childhealthrecord - it has the growth charts in pdf format so you can enlarge them and actually see the percentile lines.

Poor little Alexander lost weight last weigh in at 11 weeks. He lost 40g and the last week had only gained 80g. Maybe he is growing taller. He is a tall boy, but still doesn't make me feel any better.

CHN said cos he is breastfeed the weight gain is much more variable than those who are FF.

weighing in at ...... 5.2 kilos at 12 weeks

she is bf so really happy with that - so she gained 500 grams in 3 weeks... :smiliedance:

I was a little worried about my DD as she isnt gaining as much weight as I would like!!! But its great to see Jan babes are all different sizes.....My paed was making me worry!!!!

DD was 8lb 3oz when she was born however lost around 15% of her body weight in hospital

He pretty much seems to be averaging a steady gain of 200g a week and slowly getting chubbier. Noticed some pudgy dimples in his elbows for teh first time today. So cute!

well had bubs weighed in at 4 months - she went down to 4.9 kilos :eek:

but now she is 4 and half months and she is back at 5.7 kilos -- :fingerscrossed: she hasn't lost any this week...

she is still boobie feed each feed but also comp with 1.5 strenght formula during the day .... so she should be putting on weight finally :yes:
