View Full Version : formula??
Hi there,
just a quick question....at the moment im giving my dd 3 bottles of formula and 2-3 breast feeds per day. i use the plain karicare now and was curious if i need to change to a 'gold' formula when i completely give up breast feeding?
Thanks ;)
I only FF my son and he's just on the karicare follow on (over 6 months) formula Dark blue lid)

Hi
Both of my girls were bottle feed, DD1 was on s26 but my second was on Karicare, i used gold for the first 6 months and then changed it to the follow on.

I remember the health care nurses said to me that you shouldn't change their formula too much if you can help it!!
I gave ds "gold" for the first 6 months but i only bf for 1st month. I would imagine if your bub has had a decent feed of breast milk you should be ok to stay on plain....

the only difference between gold and normal that i am aware of is that the gold has fish oil in it to help with brain development?? thats just what i have been told...
There is no need to change to gold ... the differences are mainly made up with additives that have a very short life in powdered form so are often useless within hours of opening the can of formula!
My kids were both on sma (one of the cheapest) and are bright, happy and very intelligent kids!
I gave my son the S26 Gold formula and it made him sick. I am not breast feeding my daughter either and she is just on the plain S26 formula and has had no problems.
I would stay with the plain formula, if bub is happy with that one :)
