Slight cramping started on the Sunday. Nothing too great, just like slight period pain. Bubs was overdue by 4 days by this time. That night I started to have a little bit of bleeding, a good sign that things were finally underway. The cramping continued and gradually worsened throughout Monday and into the night. I was thinking surely I wouldn't be waiting much longer to have my little girl, especially seeing this was my 2nd child (I had a long labour with Lucy!). Well I couldn't be more wrong. Early Monday morning after NO sleep (I waited til 5am to wake hubby) we got ready to go to the hosp. We woke our little girl, rang the in-laws, and dropped Lucy at their place before heading to the hosp. Got to the labour ward and my contractions seemed to stop! Told I'd be sent home, only 2cm dilated! Asked if I could be induced or have my waters broken, but no I had to wait. Too busy!Back home, hubby went and got me some pain relief tabs that were safe to take. Took a little of the edge off so was able to sleep between contractions, coming from anywhere between 5-20min apart! To be continued.........

Contractions continued, gradually becoming even more painful. I waited and waited to call the hosp. Should I go in? I kept asking myself. Contractions were more painful this time than with Lucy. I felt them all in my back, unlike the first time. Lucy was posterior and the contractions seemed to have hurt less in my back. Lucy stayed at her grandparents. Hubby went to bed. I tried to nap between contractions again, so tired! Now 5-8min apart. Rang the hosp. Told to wait until 3min apart!! Finally had a big blood clot come away and heavy bleeding. It was time!! Got to the hosp only to be asked if I really was in labour?! R u joking, I felt like yelling. Monitor put on. Contractions became irregular. After 1 hour I was given an internal. I was 6cm dilated and allowed to stay!! Finally. I guess I don't show my pain well to strangers, like I should hold back....which is silly as the midwife didn't truly know how I was feeling. Laboured on an exercise ball........brilliant! Had hot hot showers. Asked to have my waters broken after 2 hours. Pain of contractions unbelievable! Asked for gas. On exercise ball again. Holding on to hubby for dear life! On my knees on the bed ready to push. Midwife helped to stretch me to 10cm dilated. Pushing was hard on my knees, went on back, knees back, midwife helped to hold my legs, as did hubby. Pushing was excuriating. Had pethidine with Lucy so didn't feel this much pain when pushing her out. Nearly giving up, had to talk myself into it!! Finally her head was out, I watched......then her little body. I lifted her out. Hubby cut the cord. She lay on my chest. Such a relief, so much happiness. All the pain disappeared. My head was so clear without drugs. I was able to watch my little girl come into this world. So amazing! So proud of myself! Proud parents of Alana Ashley. Born at 8.50am on a Wednesday morning, 7 pounds 7 ounces, 51 cm long. Auburn hair and lots of it. Big, beautiful eyes. Her mummy's ears.

Thankyou!! Though it was extremely painful  I loved that I was completely with it this time (not off with the fairies like I was with my 1st child). Truly amazing :smiliedance:
