I have been here nearly 3 yrs and it does get easier. Just be patient as I find I get stroppy as the post is so slow and cards filter in slowly and not on the right date! have a lovely day and . You are in Sydney!!

I hope you had a great B'day yesterday.

You will miss your friends and family but it will get easier when you start making new friends. The only time of year I still miss and think I always will is Christmas.

Hi Sharon

It does get easier. When I first moved here 2.5 years ago I cried a lot, then have been home twice and am going again on Easter Monday. I find it's worst when I just come back from a trip, plus about 1 day a month taht coincides with my PMT when I get down. Other than taht it's just birthdays and Christmas.

:hugs: :hugs: We all know how hard it can be when you first move over. :hugs: :hugs:

I honestly can't tell you if it gets better or not, I don't know, i've only ever been to melbourne for two weeks!

I'm sure it does though, just keep your chin up they are probably missing you heaps too, but you have your life to go on with, and at the end of the day, they will always be there, if you need them.

I hope you have a great day tomorrow! happybirthday :hugs:

Sorry shaz! I completely missed this thread ...

Happy belated birthday.

It does indeed get easier though you will undoubtedly still have pangs of homesickness from time to time (I'm going through a pang right about now).

Hope you got some lovely pressies and a great big cake for your birthday!

I've only been here since 27th Nov 2006, yes I miss my family and friends but all I can say is....thank goodness for MSN and Skype

I chat to my parents most weekends using Skype and sometimes if it's not too slow I use the spy cam on the comp so we can see each other.

My B-day was in December and I was bitterly disapointed that some of my friends didn't bother to send me a card or even wish me happy b-day via MSN. But then I have a couple of friends who chat to me most days via MSN and that has made it a whole lot easier for me to adjust. I rarely feel homesick, though I do have wistfull thoughts about my parents emigrating to join us when my dad retires.

I think what was worse for me was when we arrived in Adelaide and I saw all those people waiting to greet their loved ones.......I cried leaving the UK and I cried arriving here in Auz but with computors, the world is so much smaller.

Everyone I have met here (in Auz) have been absolutly lovely and that really helps too

I hope you feel less homesick soon :hugs:

Hi

Well put Londonmum.Technology does make the world smaller. Amelia sat last week and within a few mins Mum and Dad had pics on their pc!

I struggle to hold it together at Sydney airport!
Very emotional reunions all around. I am usually crying way before any of our family come through!

Birthdays are hard and my cards get less each year!:( But my good friends keep in touch.

I'm the same. People at the airport must think something awful has happened. I've been here 5 years and it doesnt get any better. Day to day does but major events are still hard.

Shazb Happy belated birthday
