Sorry this is so long, I have just copied it from my own home diary:

25 February 2007 – 39 weeks

12.30am - Well I went on a cleaning spree tonight (last night), vacuumed, mopped, 3 loads of washing, ironed, cleaned bathroom. Luke went to watch a fight in town so I got lots done. Tonight after showering I noticed my tummy was a very funny shape. I rubbed clary sage oil on my tummy. I started getting back pains at about 12ish when Luke got home. I started timing them at 12.34, 12.42, 12.50.

Hopefully they aren’t the real thing because I have decided I’m not ready yet….. I guess I can never be ready. I can’t sleep either. Just went to the loo and had some diarrhea so maybe that’s all it was. Here’s hoping!! No show as yet either. OK I think I will try and sleep, just took some panadol!!

4.36am - and I’m still getting pains 8 min apart. Had an hours sleep but woke up again. I’m really starting to think this is labour!! Eeek. I have been to the loo 3 times!! Still no show or sign of waters. I’m going to be so tired. I think I will have a hot shower and take some more panadol at 5am.

7.45am - Managed 1.5 hours sleep. Pains are still there and I am going to get things organized just incase. Better to be safe than sorry!! Especially when I need to make sure Logan will have everything!

11.30am – off to the hospital to get checked out.

3.04pm - got back home about 2.15pm from hospy. I was 2cm dialated and contractions 2-3 min and slowly intensifying. Sent home until they get strong enough that I can’t talk. Had a bath but that seemed to make them a little further apart so I got out. I don’t want things to slow down. Luke is having a nap and Logan is at mums. I can’t sleep though.

So I still feel girl…. I wonder?? I wonder if it will be smaller than Logan being a week early?

3.45pm - just lost my plug!!!

5.57pm - they have intensified a little as we just went for a walk around the block and I can’t walk through them anymore, but still aren’t too bad. We got some funny looks!! he he

6.25pm - think I have a leak of my waters?? a bit of a funny colour so I’m a bit suss, have rung mum to come around. Once mum arrived we saw Logan for a while and then all tripped off to the hospital AGAIN. We arrived there at about 8pm I think and was hooked up to the monitor. I was having quite strong contractions and really thought this was it!! Once they came into check the sheet they told me I was still in pre-labour!! What the… I could’ve cried. She said they were not regular enough as I was having two in a row and then a little pause. Even though they were very intense. So they did an internal and said I was 2cm and could see the bag bulging and a head with lots of hair!! He he. So my waters hadn’t broken either
They sent me home with some pain killers and some sleeping tablets. Once home I had a long shower sitting on the ball and then went to bed at about 10pm. I thought there was no way I would sleep but somehow I did!! Luke said I would hold my back when I would get a contraction in my sleep.

26 February 2007 – 39 Weeks 1 day

1.15am - I woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep. I jumped in the shower thinking it may ease them off to enable me to sleep again but I was getting more uncomfortable so I got Luke to run a bath and tried that. Jumped in and one contraction later I jumped out. I told Luke I think we better get to the hospital as they are starting to get too intense and all I could think about was pain relief!! We jumped in the car and decided to ring my mum once we were at the hospital incase we were sent home again. The 25min trip was terrible and contractions were every 2.50min apart. I was lifting my bum off the seat and breathing my way through them.

2.40am - Once we got to the hospital and got through the security doors I had a contraction that made me panic and start to cry a little. I remembered this stage with my first labour and knew I needed that gas. We had to keep moving so decided to ring mum once we got up to the birth suite. It was 2.40am and they took me in for monitoring and I just said I need the gas and I can’t lay on the bed for monitoring. She checked bubs heart rate and that was good. When the midwife witnessed one of my contractions I think she realized that I was serious. She did an internal and said I was 3cm, fully effaced, very soft and stretchy.
3.00am - She got me straight up and I waddled into the birth suite straight onto the gas, meanwhile Luke rang mum to come in. I told the midwife about my birth plan and what pain relief I would like etc and she said no time you will have this bub in one hour or 2 at the max!! Within 3 contractions I felt the urge to “poo/push” so I went to the loo, just incase as I had eaten quite a lot for dinner. Sat on the loo and my body was definitely pushing the bub down. They grabbed the birth stool and set it up in front of the loo and I managed to get on it and Luke sat in a chair behind me. I was very much in control during this labour, I would suck on the gas just before the contraction would begin and then ease off half way through and kept the breathing happening. On one of my pushes my waters popped and it had meconnium in it. They told me not to worry as bub was doing great. I could feel the bubs head moving down quite fast. I was able to keep pushing without a contraction even and felt I made progress with each push. A couple of times I heard the door beep and thought it would be my mum and eventually it was. I looked up at her and she had her camera. I said no time for that mum grab our video camera the bub is coming. The look on her face was total shock. Within 2 minutes of mum arriving the bubs head was out. Then she got stuck. The midwife took a while trying to work why she wouldnt come easy and then realised her little hand was up so trying to push the rest of her out was terrible.

3.40am - But I gave a big push and she slid out, the feeling was amazing. They put the bub up on my chest. She was all sticky unlike Logan who was bloody and slippery. She wasn’t breathing I said to the midwife "she’s not breathing" and then she coughed up a heap of liquid and cried. The midwife called her a he and I said quite shocked, “is it a boy” and she said I don’t know, have a look. I lifted her legs and said it’s a girl. I looked a mum and mum said yes she is a girl! Funny how I had already called her a "she" anyway. They got Luke to cut the cord and took Jacey away so I could push out the placenta. Luke started to feel ill so he got up and went out of the room. He was so great though and really got me through each contraction.
I pushed the placenta out and then moved to the bed where I got my little girl back!! I couldn’t believe we had a girl and she had a full head of hair! I got stitches from Jacey’s hand being up to her head. The midwife said that I wouldn’t have gotten them if she didn’t have her hand there. It was funny cause at her 34 week 4D scan she had her hand up against her face and I said then I hope she moves that away before birth!!. But it’s all worth it. Jacey breastfed for ages and then we all had a snooze. We stayed in the birth suit until 8am that morning when I was moved down to the ward. I spent one night in hospital and was very happy to be home with my family.

It was an amazing labour and birth. I felt totally in control and very aware of my body and what it could do. It actually seemed very easy…… I could do it all again, hmm if Luke will let me!! I guess we will know in a couple of years.
