Hi guys, we are really struggling with a name for our little man on the way! Please let me know which name you prefer, and/or if they all suck! Be honest, vote, and thank-you for your help and/or suggestions!!

Cheers, Katie

I'm not fussed on any of them to be quite honest.

I like Otis and Ace the very least out of them all. It would be hard to be taken seriously as a man if your given name was Ace. Otis puts me in mind of that movie about two animals called "Milo and Otis".

Thanks, my DH and I are at logger heads over this. I like plain, we have a last name that will always have to be spelt, and want something straight forward for their first name. DH wants something that people will remember, such as Ace! We really need help, any suggestions would be gratefully accepted!

ace and otis don't do it for me. james i have always liked and am considering for my own lil boy (due June) but am worried that it is so common. charles is great, esp as he gets called charlie. i like it the best i think. :p

I have always liked James, sorry not really fussed on any of the others, 'cept maybe Charlie, but hey, its not my baby! :) Jeffrey doesnt really do it for me either, although im assuming its a family name or something :) dont worry to much, when baby comes you will look at him and it will help in deciding in what to call him, who knows, he may look exactly like an Ace!! good luck :)

Sorry sweetie but I don't like any of them either. The only one I remotly like is Charlie but I don't like Charles, and it sounds funny with Jeffrey.
The boys names we had picked were Hunter and Conner.
But we found out we're having a girl.
Are you due in march? If so you still have a bit of time and who knows you may change your mind once you meet your little man...?

In all honesty, I don't really like the name Jeffrey. It will definately be the middle name though, it is my FIL (recently dec)'s name. James is my family name, and I always thought that it would be the middle name, I can't help but like the name, but not sure about the J.J. thing though.

Our Nephew (on my hubby's side) is Jayden James. My Grandad is also James. So it kind of rings true for us aswell.
We were going to call PJ (Partick Joseph) Charlee when he was s'posed to be a girl (He had a change of heart at 32 weeks)

I'm sorry I agree with aardverk

When I read her post I went oh that's lawful but it's true.

I did vote for James as I like Jamie.

We are stuck on boys names as well. I have 2boys already and there names are Michael and Matthew plain and simple. I like to think about when there grown men. DH is a tall very well built man and I like Sam but can imagine him getting BIG SAMMY!!!!!!!!!.

We love nicknames and Michael can be Mick, Mike, Mickey or as his friends call him MickyZ.

Matthew we do the same.

Michael is older and I have lots of cousins and nephews that are in there teens and there friends will always find them a nick name.
Oh and my DH says that at work the men that have odd names always cop it. He’s not like that but it's how some men are, and those guys always put it straight back at there mums.

Best of luck. I hope we both find wonderful names, I'm 32weeks and starting to panic. All the names I like have been taken like I said I have lots of boy cousins and nephews, Matthew is my cousins name he was ok about me using it.

I like Charlie and I like James. We had James picked for our first but it ended up being a girl. We have now had a boy and we called him Jack James.

James is a family name so we wanted to have it. He has only been called JJ by two people but it doesnt seem to suit a baby. Maybe his mates will call him that eventually which is OK, but I will never start it, so it might not stick.

I personally like a good stong name for boys. I seem to like the older names like Patrick, Jack, James, Harry, William, and I liked Jed for a boy.

Good Luck

well 8thmarch2006....

i like jeffrey as a middle name! the reason i don't like ace or otis, or jayden, hunter or connor is, to me, these kinds of names are too trendy and will be out of vogue in 5 minutes.

i think james jeffrey or charles jeffrey both sound fine to me. give me old fashioned classic names any day!

let us know what you decide on!

If you name him James and he turns out like my James, then you are truly blessed indeed :) I am dreading having another boy, I have four already and picking their names was soooo hard. I'm going to need help naming this one if its a boy LOL

Many blessings

OMG moonblossom you must feel soooo out numbered :p I don't know how I would cope with four boys let alone five - I have huge respect for you :)

Back to the subject I like James Jeffery, i think it's more special when you give a baby a family name, something they can feel special about when they're older.
I like the older type names, it's hard to pick one thats not too common, but you know it's not going to date very quickly.

Good Luck, you'll pick the right one in the end, and if you don't he can always change it to whatever he wants later in life - like my cousin did

Names are so hard aren't they? We were sure we were going to have a boy when our DD arrived and we were sitting in the deliverysuite contemplating names in between contractions thats how hard it was for us.

Thanks goodness "he" was a "she"

Anyway, I think you should keep the name to yourself until the time arrives because the more you talk about it and get other people opinions, the harder it becomes because there will always be someone that doesn't like it.

You're Mum and Dad so go with whatever you like!

Good luck! :)

I love Charlie and James. Unfortunately "otis" reminds me of "otitis media" which is the medical term for ear infections. Hope this doesnt offend.
Pickles - mother to Olivia ( nearly 3 ) and Darcy ( boy , 8months )
Good luck

James, by far...sorry the others don't really appeal to me!
I agree, when you decide on a name, don't tell anyone, because until they actually meet your little man, they will be picky and cause you all sorts of grief, when they see your bub, they won't say that the name is right or wrong, they will just say that it suits him!

Ace and Otis are definitely names you give to a dog IMO... sorry if that offends anyone! I like James best, but Charlie is also a good name.

My dad's name is Joseph Patrick! :)

As for the names

Otis really reminds me of Milo and Otis
Ace was my dogs name
James I would pick this name out of all of them.
Charles hmm a bit too prim and proper for me but then I don't like the name Charlie.

I really like the name Charlie - I would've considered it for my bubs if my sis didnt have a dog named Charlie - He's her baby and we thought it might be a little confusing!:D
