I know anaemia is an iron defiency, so I am thinking it is a severe iron deficiency. I am not sure of the outcome or symptoms (other than bruising) of severe anaemia though sorry. I wont google either don't want to freak you out.
Maybe someone here has experienced it first hand !?!:detective:

actually if he has anaemia he won't be bruising. This is what led to me getting a diagnosis when I was rundown. My bf dragged me downstairs to me sister and said look - and then showed her that when he gave me a hickey it wouldn't stay.

It depends what caused the anaemia, it could be diet or it can be blood loss (you would probably notice this) or a problem with processing iron.

iron tablets, lots of liver and red meat eventually brought my levels up. It took quite a long time, I was very very sick (it kills your immune system at the same time), but I am fine now.

Did you find out how he is doing and how they discovered his anemia?? Hope he is ok poor fulla:thumbsdown:

Samsmum lol:laughing: on discovering your anemia via a hickey that wouldn't stick. I didn't know it would mean you couldn't bruise I always thought it was the other way around and that you bruise easily?!? You learn something new everyday!:detective:

ETA: I just googled 'anaemia and brusing' and it came up with aplastic anaemia which main symptom is bruising. But it's not your everyday anaemia it is to do with your bone marrow and low platelets, so a different type of anaemia, who new there were different types?!?!

Anaemia is low iron levels. Increase iron intake, and vitamin C aids iron absorption too - so have vegemite toast for breakfast with fresh OJ. Have some red meat with heaps of leafy greens, followed by a big bowl of strawberries.

:hugs: The doctors should be able to give you some iron tablets to help him in the immediate future. My advice would be to see a nutritionist or a naturopath, to get some idea's on how to increase iron levels.

I am with you, I didn't know that there were different types, I only knew what I had. Sorry for the misinformation peoples!

my sister was thrilled at the time that my bf would show her this, but was glad that we actually found out what was wrong with me.
