I've made the decision to vaccinate Nick for measles, mumps and rubella separately but am having a hard time getting hold of the vaccines - has anyone chosen to do this and how/where did you get the separate vaccines from?
Hi there,
Sorry I can't help you with where to get the vacc from but I was just curious as to the advantages of doing this. I've never heard of people doing it before. Is it better because it is less at one time?
Sorry just nosey. :o

Have you tried ordering it from your chemist?? They have to oreder it from the supplier. We use to do it for people all the time...
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I THINK getting them separately is close to impossible.
I know a few people who have tried without any luck.
I guess, you could always find out some manufacturers names, and query it direct to them, if anyone would know if they actually are made separately, it would be those who do the making!

I can't speak for the OP, but anyone i know who prefers to do it this way, figures that if you do all of the shots one by one, you are in a much better position to monitor any adverse reactions, and can pinpoint it to one thing or another.
It is getting harder though, as it seems shots are getting more and more lumped together.
Another reason, is to minimise the toxic load on the body from injecting a vaccine, thereby allowing an infant to hopefully eliminate it more quickly etc.
In the normal course of things, an immune system would usually not have to try to deal with multiple diseases at once.

Well it's not a big ask if you live in the UK ... it's not uncommon to have the MMR separately at 6 week intervals. Unfortunately for you though it's not that simple here. Have you done the research already as to the recommended order of vaccinations?
Sorry I can't help you.

Yep Supermum you are right. I've called some pharmacists and my doctor just called to tell me that I either immunise with the MMR or I just have Rubella which is the only one out of the three I can have separately here in Oz.
I have to say that I feel very frustrated about this. I don't object to immunising my son I just want to have the choice with how it is administered and I guess the powers that be have taken this choice away (once again) and have dictated that I either leave my son at risk of infection or I buckle to pressure and accept a vaccine which in my opinion may be potentially life-changing with it's possible adverse side-effects - although not proven I know but I'm not prepared to take that chance.
I'm not done with this though. I know it's a question of supply and demand with the manufacture of vaccine so if there are others who are interested in separate vaccinations please pm me as I am willing to lobby the health minister
Hi Nickosmoo
I will p.m. you as I too want to give the MMR separately. My daughter is only four months old so have not gone into the logistics of it yet! I did briefly discuss it with my g.p when she got her first lot of jabs and he said he would "debate it with me" nearer the time but he seemed to imply that if I wanted them done separately it would be possible. She is due for another lot this week so I will quiz him then
