I bought Save our Sleep book and read it before toadlet arrived.

For the first two weeks we have been letting him set his own sleep wake and feed times and he's forming a definite pattern, especially at night time and early morning.

I checked the routine for the 2 weeks to 4 weeks (bottle fed) and he is following a fairly similar pattern to what she suggests.
I am tempted to start trying to get him to do the routine but don't want to ruin what is alread a potentially well settled, happy chomping little toadlet.

Did anyone follow the routines set in the book and have success? Disaster?

there will be many who tell you dont have routines for babies so young....but i can only tell you that i have had great sucess with the SOS routines from pretty much the 2nd week as well, my DS did sort of put himself in a 3 to 4hourly routine I just tweaked it a bit to the sort of times suggested, which also suited my daily schedule as I have a toddler as well
so i guess it dependes on if you are happy with the way things are going at the moment in which case you could just plod along - you can always pick up on a routine she suggestes in a few more weeks if things start to change, which knowing babies that will happen!!

I bought the book when DD was about 3 months old. I read the book and some of it is good advice but I never tried to push her into a routine. I just read bits and tailored it to her own needs.

But DD is nearly 6 months old and she has sort of fallen into a similar routine to what the book suggests.

Hi,

I've been following the routines for about 2 weeks now since bub was 8 weeks. I personally would not start a routine any earlier than 6 weeks because they are just so young, but you need to decide what's best for you and your bub as their is no right or wrong.

The 4 hr feeds in the routine worked really well with my bub and settling to sleep we are slowly making progress. We've graduated from hours of rocking in our arms to at least falling asleep in his bassinet with a bit of crying and patting. (sorry can't avoid the little crying).

I think the routines are good for ppl who are struggling and will try anything once to see if it improves their situation (it has helped me :) ).

We started our dd on the routine when she was 12 weeks old and havent looked back. She sleeps 7pm - 7am rain, hail or shine no matter where. Shes 17months now and has a big daytime sleep too. I too, tweaked them slightly but one thing weve never messed with is the 7pm bed bus. Its been great. In the early days a few times, I did wonder if we were doing the right thing, but it has paid off. I also emailed them on the SOS site when I needed to ask questions and they were very helpful and responded quickly. Good luck with it!
