A four hour block at night sounds excellent to me. My ds never ever slept that long until he was nearly 1. Putting him in your bed isn't a problem, it's obviously good for him, why feel bad about it? 70% of the world cosleeps, remember :) Babies sleep as they do for many complicated reasons but your wee one sounds perfectly normal to me. They change their habits regularly, they sleep at different times and for different lengths. If you're lacking sleep yourself nap when he does in the day and try to feel reassured that you have a perfectly normal baby. If you have a dp make sure you get to sleep in as often as possible to catch up. At 5 1/2 months he's too young for solids and they may cause wakefulness by being too hard for him to digest. I'm sorry to tell you that you have a perfectly normal baby on your hands and isn't that lovely to know :)
