Hi there, my DS has just started to climb everything!
The other day he climbed on top of his toy box and managed to stand up on it.
This morning I left the room only to come back and find him standing up on top of the couch. I was horrified! I can't even go to the toilet anymore these days!
It is funny to see him get in all these situations, though I am worried about his safety. I guess I just can't leave the room.
What do other mums do when their bubs start to climb?

My DD is a climber too!! She got her first biggest injury the other day...hit her head and now has a nice little bruised egg! I feel like people are staring at me when we're out thinking what a terrible mother!! We both cried when it happened! And five minutes later she was laughing and climbing again!!!!

I have set up a section of our lounge room with all her toys - her toybox is a collapsible one so she can't climb it! and I've used the playpen (opened up and tied together)as a barrier to keep her out of harms way. This gives her a big area to play in and keeps my heart pounding normal!!!! :)

Hi Bubbles28,

It sounds like our little boys are up to the same things (just replied to your sleeping thread)!

I definitely recommend a playpen - it's the only way for me to go to the bathroom, hang out washing etc. He still climbs and hangs on the side, so I only put soft toys in there because he hasn't quite mastered the art of landing yet.

I bought my playpen from Target for $99, but if you shop around, I'm sure there are some out there for less.

Good Luck :)

hi shelbyville, thanks for that.
I have a playpen which I used when he was about 6mths but he got sick of it and wouldn't stay in it.
I will have to use it now for his safety though.
I will have to wait untill after Christmas though as my Christmas tree and pressies are in it. It was the only way I could have a Christmas tree without it being pulled to the ground every minute!
