View Full Version : One size nappy - such a thing?

I was just wondering - is there a 'one size' MCN (GK, BBH, etc) you have successfully used from birth to toilet training with your DS/DD? (I like my GKs, but I'm wondering if they would be ginormous on a newborn?)
I'm unqualified to answer as we were late MCN starters, but am very curious! :D

I have used both the GK's and BB's from day 1:thumbsup:
BB I have used from newborn... but GK's were huuugee and leaked because they were too big. Whereas if a fitted is a little too big it doesn't matter as much as with pockets.
I am also curious as to what does fit from newborn! The BB does fit my two year old at the moment and it is great fit on him. Is it bulky on a newborn? Have also used a Mandy Mac on my two year and it is probably on the small side for him but from what I have heard they are great for a newborn as you can adjust the size more to fit with the snappi.

it really does depend on your baby's size at birth and build. My son was 4.3kg at birth, and BBH fit from birth - but BBH have also changed in design in 2.5 years. They still fit him at 14.5-15kg at nearly 2.5 years old.
But, if you have a 3kg baby at birth, they won't fit as well from birth. Just as, if you have a larger baby who toilet trains at 3-3.5 years, it's unlikely that the nappies will fit all the way to toilet training...
So, on the average baby... and my son is a bit above average, BBH have fit birth to toilet training. just.
haven't used Green Kids for 2.5 years, possibly only 1.5-2 years.
Most of the nappies that claim to be one size have galleries of babies across ages to demonstrate how they fit at different ages.
Similar to Pam - I've used Baby Beehinds since birth on Jet, he was 4kg at birth. GK's were too big, even folding the front down as suggested didn't work so well for us.
I also used Tots Bots Size 2's (folded down) from birth and still fit him now, they were a little bulky for a newborn but he soon grew into them!
I have a couple of Mandy Macs which fit Jet really nicely now (and he's quite a chubba!), if I'd had some of those when he was newborn it would have been great. They're on the small side though so I don't know if they'd fit a bigger toddler...

hey :)
i've used BBB from 4 weeks, no dramas with extra bulk, and also bumgenius pockets have always fit b well since about ..... 3-4 weeks (cant remember when i bought it but it was around then) and now she's almost 7 months and they're still one of my best fitting nappies.
