Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has had one? I have orange urine, an achy sore lower tum, occasional sharp jabbing pains, reduced urine, but I'm very thirsty. Does this sound like a UTI to you? and if so, how should it be handled - Doc's?

Thanks

I have had one. When I was preg with DS, sounds like the same sort of symptoms I had except I dont know if my urine was orange but it was definately diff colour and it stung when I went to the toilet - have you had any stinging? Definately see your doc, he will prob give you 'Ural' to take.

go and see yout gp

I have basically the same, i'm going to get my urine tested tomorrow, it usually hurts to pee when you have a UTI, but not always, go get checked just incase

also have you been drinking alot of water lately? you could be a little dehydrated causing the dark urine

Hi Pebbles and Gizmo,

Thanks for your responses.

There is no stinging, except my bladder aches when I urinate, and there is alot less urine than there should be even though I am on probably 6 glasses of water a day (one weak black tea included) plus milk. Up until a week or two ago, I was running to the loo maybe 20 times a day, and now, though I feel like I need to go, I don't pass much and what I do is not the dark yellow you get when dehydrated but has more of a reddish tinge to it, making it really quite orange - I haven't eaten anything odd either.

I think I will do what you suggest Gizmo, and get it checked. Good luck with your test tomorrow :fingerscrossed:

I don't belong in this thread but thought I would mention anyway that cranberry juice is fantastic in getting rid of a UTI. I wouldn't recommend drinking it though if you have low iron stores;)

Thankyou Oscars Mum :yelclap: I always appreciate alternative options to medical intervention (which often are far more effective than the drugs) and even if I do end up seeing the Doc, I'll give it a try, because it can't hurt :)

Thanks again!

I thought Cranberry juice is good with low iron levels, as its got heaps of vit C in it

do you know why you shouldn't drink it with low iron?

An oxalate in the juice inhibits iron absorbtion.

HI I know it was a few days ago but DO NOT take URAL or any other UTI off the shelf as URAL in particular is not good when pregnant. I can't remember why but when I had one when pregnant with my DS I was told to avoid them all. Also if it persists for too long you could end up with a kidney infection which is dangerous for you and bub so just be careful and go see a Dr if pain persists. My GP missed me having a UTI when I was pregnant said it was "normal" for me to have some extra back pain and blew it off. Three days later I couldn't move without being in pain and I was out on bed rest.
Also avoid dairy for a few days as this aggravates and definately up your water intake to 2litres.
