We're driving to sydney on friday and want to stay somewhere half way on the way.
We don't want to stay at Coffs Harbour as we're spending Christmas there this year and want to experience something else this time.
Any suggestions? Up for any kind of accommodation as long as it has an ensuite!
I know Port MacQuarie isn't really half way but is it worth the stop?

Lived in Port Macquarie many years ago and haven't been back since.
When I was there it was lovely for visiting families. Hope it hasn't changed.
What about Forster/Tuncurry (which is near Taree) - I love Forster.
My choice - FORSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nambucca heads has a nice caravan park on the point, where you get reasonable cabins, sorry cant remember the name of it though.... oh hang on, white pelican? something like that.
is tweed heads half way? i would love to go back there. we had a long holiday at the beginning of the year and only just stopped in to see DP's uncle and family and then had to go. but if i could i would have stayed the whole holiday there. it was so beautiful! from what i saw, if i could i would live there!

I assume you are coming from QLD way?
If so, why not go down the New England Hwy instead of the other one (what's it called? :o) and stay in Armidale?
