View Full Version : What don't you miss about NZ?
Ok, now we've all had a good stroll down memory lane re all the wonderful food etc back home - what don't you miss about NZ?
I don't miss:
My previous stressful job
Weeks of non-stop rain
Freezing cold
Wellington winds!
... (can you tell I move to QLD for the weather!)
I don't miss the wind. Its freezing.
I didn't know warm wind existed till I came to Aussie, and I was quite freaked out about it.
umm, and I guess I don't miss the gangs. It doesn't matter where you live, they seem to be everywhere, big towns, small towns and cities. Scarey...the mongrel mob etc.
Just thinking about the mention of gangs. My Aussie friend who lived on and off in NZ said that she foudn the gangs scary etc too. Im not saying that they arent but at least you can see them in the crowd. It scares me more that there are gangstas here in Oz and they look like the average blokes walking down the street, you havent a clue who they are or what they are capable of. At least if a mobsters walking down the street I can see him from a mile off and cross the street!
I dont miss the working my fingers to the bone for a pathetic paycheck or looking to own my first home and realising that theres nothing under half a mill on the market and even thats only a 2 bed villa :banghead:
The wind, the cold, the drizzle (although a bit more rain would be nice!).
The out of control youths having parties and riots every 2nd week.
A Prime Minister that doesn't support SAHMs, and thinks they are not contributing to society.
Being considered a high income family earning a combined $60,000 and not qualifying for ANY family assistance yet struggling to pay ever increasing costs.
Over inflated house prices (was shocked when I was over a couple of weeks ago... $400,000 for a basic 3 bedroom in the Hutt area, Wellington, nothing under $250,000 in Palmerston North! Yet wages definitely weren't rising at the same rate...)
I am still a bit bitter about leaving, I wish we hadn't had to, but our quality of life is so much higher here and financially very much easier.

I'm from wellington too.
I miss the wind and rain.
Plus I really miss our food it tastes so much better.
2more years of dealing with aussies then i'm back to nz.
I'm another Wellingtonian living in sunny Brisbane.I definitely dont miss tornado type winds pushing my pram over, fighting me to put my clothes on the washing line & blowing my undies into the neighbours yard!! lolBut I do sometimes miss snuggling up in bed to get warm, instead I'm sleeping with Mr sweaty and a 14 degree airconditioner!!

I dont miss it raining all the time, house prices that are just ridiculous compared to wages and a govenment that is a pain in the butt! Altho I do miss the kindy system in NZ - it was great setup.:D
I dont miss the snow,or the rain,or the general freezingness.I dont miss the mould or condensation.
I also dont miss the stupid government and getting stuff all support from them.I dont miss getting $11 an hour at work.
They wonder why so many ppl move over here?
