View Full Version : Young Mum!
Hi I have a five month old son. He loves being in front of the camera and having his photo taken. I was wondering is a five month old too young to be put into an agency? I know these places have age limits, but is there are recommended age limit? Also he has a reflux problem, would this stop him from being accepted if I tried?

Just call some agency's and ask them. Some will only take from a certain age, others take from birth. Also shop around, look out for dodgy ones. We did, and got MJ into one that didnt charge us a cent :D

Rainbowbrite,
Sorry to hijack the thread but this is what I've always thought - if they are representing you and therefore taking a share of the payment for getting your child work, what is with the $500+ to join? I know alot of agencies say "we will only take children who will get work" but I would love to hear from anyone who has actually been turned away from an agency. If they were to book everyone who wants to join, there's their profit for the year - wouldn't you think. The 'professional' photos would cost them next to nothing - portrait place does sittings for free remember! Then to have your child's face on a web site, well that doesn't add up! I honestly think that if they can see the potential for your child to get jobs (in turn generating money for them) then they would join you up without asking for any payment - it's just doesn't seem right!
Again, my apologies for the hijack but it caught my eye because Rainbowbrite mentioned that the agency joined her child up for free.

personally, I wouldn't pay a 'joining fee'. I think it's a sham. If they think your child is going to be used, they will make enough money through the booking fee to their client. (just my opinion though)
