There was an ad on here a few weeks ago (on the side bar on the left) and it was for groovy kids allergy bracelets.

Does anyone remember who the company was? I need to get one for my DS for his newly found penicillin allergy

There are lots of companies that do them, there is even one brand you can buy straight from the chemist.

My son has a penicillin allergy too and he's off to camp today and I FORGOT to write it on him medical sheet. What kind of mother does that?

A mother who was probably so run off her feet trying to get him ready for camp and the rest of the family ready that she just plain forgot.

That's why I need to get the bracelet :D I want one of the cutie toddler ones so will check out the link from MumtoJoshandJas.

Thank you so much for your replies!:hugs:

MumtoJoshandJas,

I'm pretty sure that was the link I had seen the ad for so thank you so much.

I have ordered him the space ship bracelet, ideal for when he is at daycare - just in case. They have some great ideas on there.

Thank you! :D

Just a quick question regarding allergy braclets - what age/or when would you usually have start having a child wearing one? EJ's got a penicillan allergy also but doesnt go to child care or anywhere where she isnt with me as yet...

I dont have one on my dd8, she has allergies to two antibiotics, but they are not severe allergies, she just came down with a rash. I mean the school knows about it, wonder if she should be wearing one...

I have a penicllin allergy and wore one from when I was about 9 or 10 I think. My DS has had penicillin 3 times now - the first two times without incident but a fortnight ago, after a year of not having it, came up in major welts and had to go to hospital. They indicated that next time it could be much worse.

He is only 2.5 but goes to daycare 3 days per week. I want him to wear it when I'm not around him to speak on his behalf so will probably have him wear it those three days. My DH has anaphalaxys (sp?) and we almost lost him once, I don't want to risk that with DS.

I may be slightly paranoid though due to his Dad's experiences.:o

I certainly dont think you are paranoid. I make DS wear one on the two days he is at daycare, even though his allergy is to egg, and the daycare centre is completely egg free:rolleyes:

I am allergic to egg as well, and i know how what it feels like to go through it, there is no way i want DS to experience that sort of pain.

I put one on my son when he was around 4. He also has a mild form of autism but back then he was quite bad and non verbal so the type I bought had a compartment in it that held a long strip of paper that I could write his name, a contact number and the list of things any treating doctor might need to know. I also had to write he was non-verbal and not being naughty. He wandered off from a friends house the week before and it took 4 hours for the police to find him, if he'd had the bracelet on someone who saw a little boy wandering the streets could have called me. It was a frantic day.
