I have a problem. I don't want to eat breakfast because I'm afraid I'll just chuck it back up. Of course if I don't eat it I just throw bile up instead

I know I should eat, and eventually I do.. but I just hate eating, I hate thinking of it. Ergh.

Is anyone else like this?

(i'm 9.5 weeks btw)

This is what worked for me;

I had a packet of dry biscuits beside my bed and ate some before I got out of bed. It certainly helped me and I was a power-chucker :o I also drank a little warmish water too.

Hope you are feeling better soon :)

Warning: Probably too my spewing information!!!
Yes, I know exactly what you mean. In my extensive spewing experience (nearly 19 weeks and still spewing  ), you are better off eating. I would much rather spew freshly eaten food than bile that is so bitter and horrible and makes you spew more. When I spew straight after eating it isn't half as gross. And I also find when there is nothing in your stomach your body still tries to spew just as much but it is just that horrible tasting stuff. Just my experience though.
I have also found the thought of the toilet makes it worse, so I never spew in there. I also spew if I sneeze or cough too much and when I brush my teeth. Hmmm I'm a spewing machine.
Hope it doesn't last too long for you!!! :o

Hi Seekrit

I know exactly how you feel! I feel like that if I don't eat soon enough - and it happens weather I'm pg or not!

A few things to try are -

the biscuits (like kaidensmum said) - I could never stomach them tho

keep a glass of water by your bed, and sip it before you get up (one of those pop top bottles are also really good)

Instead of doing other things when you first get up, like brushing your teeth or having a shower or whatever, try eating something small straight away - even if it's just a few bites of a piece of fruit or toast or something you would usually enjoy.

I don't know if you do or not, but try eating with some one else around (if you can). Nab your dh and make him eat with you - distractions like conversations are great, as you can focus on that rather than what you're eating.

When I find that I really don't feel like eating, but I know I have to - the one thing that always works for me is get the food ready, and go sit infront of the tv - put on a really good show (or a dvd if theres c**p all on) and while you're distracted by the tv, eat away. It's also good, because after you've finished, you can just sit there for a while and relax, which seems to help keep the food down. This works for me every time, and has been a life saver in the first trimester when it felt like I couldn't keep anything down.

If all else fails, try making up a trail mix (dried fruit and nuts, etc) of things you enjoy, and sit it by the computer - you'll find that once you get caught up in something, your hand'll be reaching into the bottom of the bag and you'll actually be disapointed because you've run out.

I really hope that this helps you - it's not much fun at all. But cheer up - and try not to stress about it too much (believe me, that just makes it worse!) - it will get better!

I had 24 hour a day sickness for my entire first pregnancy!! It was awful. But try and eat something, I know it's hard, I had trouble even keeping water down! But try getting some XXX mints, or any mints really. Peppermint is good for nausea and while I won't say that it made me feel 100%, it did make enough difference that I would feel ok enough to actually eat something.
:( Good Luck!

Some very good advice! I'm glad I posted about this!! :)

That is to say I still haven't eaten anything.

I hate the thought of spewing in a toilet as well, on Tuesday I bought 3 buckets :p one for the bedroom, one for my computer room (let's face it, I live in here) and one for the bathroom, because my most common place to upchuck is in the shower so now I have a bucket to take with me.

I'm a bit too prepared aren't I.

I better get off to work, I'll grab something to eat and upchuck on the way!

Good luck Seekrit!

What about things like Rennies or QuickEze or something? They might help take the bile taste away....

Nikki, buckets are my bestfriend. Whenever I pick up friends or family they always ask why I have a bucket in the car.

I feel your pain sister. My reccomendation? SEA BANDS ... they were made for sea-sickness but I have found that they work brilliantly for my morning sickness. When I was pregnant with Vallerie, I couldn't get off the couch for fear of spewing. I would eat, feel better, then spew. Or I would not eat, feel worse, then spew. With this pregnancy, it started out the same - but I have a 4 yr old that needs my attention so I had to do something about it. I read somewhere about Sea Bands, so I gave them a go. I got them from the chemist (I had to go to a big chemist, the little one I usually go to didn't stock them). They cost me something like $16-18 (I know it was less than $20) and honestly, the only times I have been sick since I got them was: a)in the morning if I had taken them off the night before; or 2) if I've forgotten to put them back on after a shower.

Click here to see Sea Bands!! (http://www.morningsicknesshelp.com/seabands.html)

I wear them all the time (in fact today I'm experimenting to see if I can go without them.... so far so good!) and proof of this is my lovely white non-tanned-bands on my wrists... Also what helped me was the Blackmores ginger + B6 tablets, also blue Extra chewing gum seems to settle my stomach if it's queasy in the car.

Good luck finding something that works for you!! We're all different, so what works for me might not work for you, but seriously, give the Sea Bands a go, they did wonders for me.

(I do not work for the company that makes Sea Bands. Honestly. I just really like them.)

I found that if i kept some fruit skittles beside the bed in a container and had some as soon as i woke up it was a lot easier to get through the first hour out of bed. I found it easier to have them that way if i did get sick then it didnt tast like that yucky bile stuff which usually ment only the one throw up for the day then cause i was not feeling so yuck that i was able to have some breaky then i would be right for the rest of the day. It also helps to make sure that breaky is the first thing you do no shower or anything first. I always found i was sick if i showered first. I had ms till 18 weeks then it stopped but im a little afraid that it may be coming back now that im 28 weeks i was sick yesterday and felt unwell again this morning till i had my breaky. Hope it ends for you soon i know its the pits but its worth it in the end.

Thanks for all the advice :D

I went to the chemist and whinged there and they recommended a bottle of Blackmores Morning Sickness Formula. It's got Ginger & Vitamin b6, you're meant to take it 3 times a day but because I'm not AS sick as I can imagine some poor ladies I'm only taking it morning and night, anyway, I'm feeling fine this morning! :D It's my 2nd day of taking them (I've had 4 tabs, started Friday night) and I don't have that same feeling as I've been having. Yay!
They didn't have those sea sick bands at the chemist tho', I would have liked to check them out.

Glad you're feeling better Nikki. Here's hoping it stays that way!

I'm so glad i never had really bad morning sickness. I was sick enough not to want to eat and just wanted to lay down all the time, but never bad enough that i was spewing.....thank god.
