yep, you read right! :D

My mil came over when I called her out of the blue yesterday, took me into town, bought me back, and then spent a few hours helping me tidy up the house!

She won't let me lift anything heavy (and cause I'm pregnant, just plain won't let me lift anything ), so she vaccumed the whole house for me, bought over a cupboard for bubs stuff - which she carried up the stairs! (Scary moment - but just try and stop her!) Mopped and swept and goodness knows what else.

And when we moved in November, she did almost all of the cleaning for us, while my mum weeded the garden (which we hadn't done in 6 months :o ) and got it looking great.

So yay for Mum's and Mum's in Law!!!

What are some fantastic things that your MIL has done for you?

It's great that it is all going so well for you on the family front. :)
My MIL is a wonderful lady, we disagree on many topics, but she always wants the best for us and we love her to bits.
She's got us out of many tight spots, driven me all over town for appointments and helped us move countless times.
Oh and she is so good to Oliver. ;)
Love you MIL!! :D

I can't actually think of one nice thing my MIL has ever said or done and she's certainly never lifted a finger to help us or spend time with the children.

The purpose of this post is simply to say how wonderfully refreshing to read of nice MIL stories. They do tend to get a bit of a bashing so good on you Shaelia ... I would like to think that yucky MIL's are an exception rather than the rule :)

Hi,
my partners whole family are fantastic, they don't intrude on our lives but are there if we need them. They are funny and I actually enjoy spending time with them and I know they will be available to baby sit when needed.

I was only thinking myself the other day that there seems to be alot of "bad" MIL stories on this forum and I don't have any bad stories!

I am very lucky I know, my MIL and (step) MIL are both wonderful! Truly!! :)

They are there when I need them, love spending time with the kids, love babysitting them and are good to me (which would have alot to do with the fact that they both have three sons each - DIL's are treasured!!).

The nicest thing my MIL did for me was to organise the whole family to put in for a cleaner for 2months when DS2 was born - it was the best present ever!!

While I'm at it I just have to praise my FIL, he is just beautiful and adores me. One of his friends was saying to him one day (in my presence) that now I need to provide him with a granddaughter and his reply was "I don't need a GD, look at my beautiful DIL who could want anything more" - aaaawww shucks!! :D

I told my MIL that we were having a girl and she sounded like she was going to cry. :o There are only boy grandchildren so she is very happy. I also told my FIL, and he said in his mean sounding German accent "oh s**t, I'm so glad", sounded very funny coming out of his mouth. :)
We are really lucky to have great inlaws! :)

I so envy you ladies out there who have good relationships with your mil's. Mine's not bad just complicated. Maybe just a bit too "helpful" and I try and be patient and bite my tongue because lets face it we are all going to be mil's oneday and I know how I love my son too bits. :)
I agree very refreshing :)

We chose Amelia mainly because I liked it and it was something that our relatives would be able to pronounce. Many of the 'english' names they struggle with, hence having and Oliver and Amelia. :)
I have always liked the name since reading Amelia Jane books by Enid Blyton. She was a horrid girl in the books but I really enjoyed reading them.
So there's my Amelia story. :)
Oh, and I also liked it because it isn't too popular. (so far) ;)

My MIL came up to Darwin for the birth of my daughter. While she was here, she cooked, cleaned and did most everything for me while I was recovering from the c-section.

She is a wonderful woman who always has time for us :)

I love my MIL. She is always there when we need her, and she is fantastic with Noah - he absolutely adores her. The first time he waved bye bye was to ME!! When I was dropping him off at her house for the day as a had to work. MIL and I were having a chat at the front door - he was in her arms waving good bye like "hurry up and go mum"
I only wish I had the same kind of relationship with my own mum shes the total opposite, I only hear from her when she needs something
. If I ask for anything from her she makes me feel like I've asked her to give up all her worldly possesions or something.
My MIL is such a nice person she would do anything for anyone, and the only bad thing about that is my SILs take full advantage without giving her any thanks :(
I would love to give her a baby granddaughter as she has 6 grandsons and no girls yet. Hopefully number 7 is a charm, but if it's a boy I know she will love him to bits like all her other grandchildren :)

Aye I love MIL to bits. I kid you not :D She thinks how lucky Joshua is to have a great wife like me. And how "clever" I am to give her a beautiful grandson!!!

How about that eh?

Mind you I also being so grateful to her. I thank her many times about her being a great mum/grandma. How lucky I am to have found Joshua and what a great job she did to Joshua because he turns out to be the best husband/father!

Yay to my MIL! :D
