I think i'm starting to get homesick, last year I didn't really miss NZ much at all, but now all of a sudden I am, im not sure if its NZ that i'm missing or our old military lifestyle, it might be more the lifestyle rather than NZ its self, i've been back 3 times in the last year, and each time I was happy to get back here,

anyways does or has anyone else felt the same? how did you fix your home sickness?

oh glad i'm not the only one, I just feel lost at the mo, probably doesn't help that I can't get out and about cause of the lack of a car :gloomy: , I think I need to win lotto so I can buy one, then I might feel better, DH is getting a bit homesick as well, but we've got obligations at the mo so DH can't really leave what he's doing

I did. It lasted 5 mins.

It is different for me because I don't really have anything there. I am pleased to be free and away from my family. I love not having them 'just drop in'.

I couldn't live there ever again. Even a visit is too hard.

gizmo, you probably are experiencing some pregnancy blues, where you're sense of emotion is heightened and tolerance a bit low. when you'[re in the middle of it, you could swear black and blue that this is not the case and its nothing to do with pregnancy, but when you look back on it all...you realise that it may very well have been the case...IYKWIM

thanks MSR

yeah that could be it, i'm just stressing a bit over my care with this pregnancy, kinda missing the maternity system in NZ, its so much better there, so you could be right with that one, I think i'm just feeling insecure at the mo :gloomy:

that's what i was thinking, because of your past pregnancies - this is a joyous and exciting time, but a little scary too. plus you being homesick is a real feeling too. and i'm sure it comes and goes, whether you're pregnant or not..

to be honest, there's nothing worse than someone being dismissive of your emoitions because you're pregnant. i certianly didn't intend that.....but its good to get other perspectives, but its equally great to find someone who is missing NZ as much as you at the moment.

Me DH and 3 kiddies moved here in September last year and I miss NZ sometimes but when my sister came to see us in Jan it made me think and I realise its my family :gloomy: that I miss most, not NZ itself. (Well some things about NZ for sure!) When she left I felt so lost but the feeling did slowly go and get better. We planning on goin back for our 1st visit at Christmas time. :) So looking forward to it. Anyway I hope you feel better about it soon and good luck with bubs!

Yes, I've had very bad homesickness, especially when I had a new baby and no family support at all, then again when baby 2 was born, infact it was bad enough that i had to go to NZ for 8 months to sort myself out, and now I'm back and love it, and i'm not considering going back to live now, as I was before.
So, yes, it was hard with little ones, but now they are bigger and my independance is coming back, I'm feeling so much better, and more in control.

Hugs to you, fingers crossed it will pass soon for you, I know how it feels!

Exactly the same with me! Really missing family support  and getting itchy feet (need to do something different!) Going back in a couple of weeks hopefully - just waiting on bubs passport. It's been 3 years since I've been back.
