I have two containers of talcum powder that were given to us in hampers when Lachlan was born. I have read about the dangers of using talcum powder on babies and so am not using it. However, are there any other uses for talcum powder or should I just bin them???

You can sprinkle it across the doorway to stop ants

Inside wetsuits and swimcaps to make them go on easier (apparently).

If you have wooden floorboards you can use it stop them squeaking:laughing: . As far as I know the danger is with inhalation into the lungs. I still used a powder but the cornflour one and made sure that I didn't just squeeze it on causing those big powder puffs. I squeezed it into my hand away from baby and more patted it on. That said my kids weren't prone to nappy rash and I didn't use anything at all unless there was some redness or I knew they'd be in them for a while...like at night when they are older bubs.

Because the talcum powder is so fine babies can inhale the fine particles into their lungs causing breathing problems etc. Ointments are recommended in favour over powder for treating nappy rash.
If you google it there is a lot of information about the topic.
I'm definitely going to try the ant treatment - we seem to be inundated with them at the moment - particularly around the computer!
put it on the back of stickers to take away the stickiness. Then you can do other things with the sticker ... mmm, complete mental blank on why this is useful ...

LOL that's funny.

If you have light coloured hair you can sprinkle it on your roots and get rid of the oilness, a quick fix when you don't have time to wash your hair!

The only thing I've ever used talcum powder for is to keep ants out. Sprinkle it along doorways and windowsills.
I was going to suggest the oily hair one, but I thought it could be on any hair, you just have to work it in with a hair dryer.... hmmm
You can put in your shoes so they don't stink
