Little Miss Isabelle loves to stand in the bath. I cannot remember the last time she actually sat down in the bath.
With winter coming, I am just a little worried that she will be a tad cold...
Should I try and encourage her to sit down? Or just leave her to stand in the bath in the hopes that she will eventually sit on her own:detective:
TIA

I had this problem with little miss 22 month old. So I gave the shower a go and it was very successful! I tried making her sit down in the bath but it turned into a game when she'd giggle and sit down them up right back up. If you're going to give the shower a try just make sure you have a non slip matt in there.

Ds used to stand in the bath, but i would tell him that he would get a sore (if he fell) and to sit on his bottom, after a week of this, we didn't have any trouble, goodluck with whatever you choose to do :fingerscrossed:

Thanks BL and Bensmummy, both great suggestions, and both already tried....
Might need to give the shower another go...

With DD, and now with DS, I have the phase of saying constantly "we sit in the bath, it's safer to sit down, let's sit and splash" etc etc. *sigh* it is a phase where they just do it because they can and it's exciting.
The shower idea is a good one, DD started having showers by herself at around 18 months old, I guess? As soon as she was really really steady on her feet by herself. And after that she very seldom has baths at all, still to this day she has a shower every morning and only occasionally has a bath in the evening.
But in reference to your question, I don't think there's much to worry about her getting cold. If she gets too cold she'll sit down  Perhaps you could add "ooh this water is lovely and warm!" to your repertoire :D
Av is the same
He either has showers or he will have a bath with his bro and sis. He tends to sit down then cos they are and he likes playing with them.

We ended up putting ds in the shower, as he would NOT sit on his bottom in the bath, no matter how many times he got into trouble, it didn't matter.
Goodluck with the bath :fingerscrossed:
Deffinately a phase i think...DD did the same thing basically as soon as she could stand, until now. Shes 21 months, and shes only just starting sitting down the last month or so.
Shes never been keen on showers until this month, so hopefully she'll start letting her face get wet so i can just put her down and let her go to town in the shower.
ETA: I forgot to add that for a while there, dd was slipping over a hell of alot, and she had 1 or 2 near misses and one or two head bumps...I got a long bath mat and stuck it in the bottom, she hasnt slipped since :)

My dd stands in the bath all the time so I did the shower thing too.
Another option is to put a portable heater in the bathroom and warm it up before she gets in.
Good Luck

Did you consider giving her a shower instead? Then she could stand quite happily... Either by herself or (preferably) with you. And if she doesn't like it, explain that she'll get too cold standing up so either she has a shower or sits in the bath.
Worth a shot!
SORRY TO SAY WHAT EVERYONE ELSE SAID, I STARTED TO WRITE, WENT TO B/F DS, THEN POSTED IT. WHOOPS!

Haven't tried the shower for a while - last time we were in there, she happily sat on the floor of the shower:rolleyes: but when I came time to actually wash her, she was clinging to me for dear life, so it was a tad slipppery!
the_queen - I think she might sit when it gets cold, hopefully!
Glad to see its just a stage though:D

Liam started this a few months ago... I usually shower him so the bath is a novelty now and he has tons of toys to play with. They work great as a distraction (for now!).

Not only is she standing in the bath....
She has figured out that she can swing one leg over the side of the bath!!!
I think it may be time for showers, but she loves playing in there while I run the bath, that it might just be one big game for her....
DS loves both the bath and the shower but he too went through a phase of standing up in the bath which I consider very dangerous. We just kept telling him to sit down or it was time to get out and made sure we followed through if he kept standing up. He learnt very quickly to sit down and stay sitting!

That is what i was going to suggest :D that is what i did with DS last year (altho he couldnt stand up or anything then lol) but kept him happy getting in and out of the bath, so am going to do it again this year
