Ok Boof's new room is going to be set up to have a little play area for him. Especially good if mummy is having a hard time at the end of this pregnancy but also for when the new bubs arrives she can stay in bed :p
We have obviously put a latch thingy on the window so he cant open it & this stays locked meaning it is open slightly but cant be opened further without the key.

Anyways my problem is that being a second storey window of a townhouse means if he somehow manages to break the glass or push it i am worried :

a) because its not true safety glass due to it being so old

b) because he could fall out plummeting straight onto concrete.

All being nasty outcomes which i would rather avoid.

Now can anyone suggest anything besides putting bars on the inside ?
Dont really like these due to the safety aspect in a fire as well as them being ugly so would rather another option.

You could get that Invisimesh stuff? Expensive but it looks so much better than bars or grills. What about some nice shutters or fixed wooden blinds?

we don't have two storeys but our house is up on stilts so its still a long way down; probably even the same height as two storey. anyway, on that side of the house , i just keep the windows closed and locked.. i don't take any chances. it won't be forever, but just while my two are at this early stage of their lives.

friend of a friend had a two year old who fell out of two storey window and apparently is brain damaged and wheel chair bound for the rest of his life. very sad and heart breaking.
