Hi, I had my bub 8 weeks ago, during my pregnancy my blood pressure was slighty elevated. After the birth (c/s) I had to have a blood transfusion and my blood pressure was fine when I left hospital. Now I have been to the dr and she said my blood pressure is high and I have to go back and have it cheaked every month, to see if theres something wrong. Has anyone had this happen after having a baby???

yes mine was up during my pregnancy and after i gave birth and left hospital it was fine then when i was checked at my gps it was up again and it took 5 month to come back down i didnt want to go on blood pressure tablets as they are for life if u start them and the doctor said i was to young to start on them so i went on a strict diet and drunk lots of water and now it is down but i still have to be checked regularly. but it should come down..
i just drank lots of water and went for a walk every day well i still do and that how it came down..

good luck and hopefully it comes down

I have had high bp in pregnancy and have to monitor it constantly due to bad genetics. I am not on medication at the moment but have been. Really rather than going back every month I am surprised that your GP didn't give you a monitor to use at home so you could write down the readings and bring that back to the GP with you. This way you can monitor bp in your own environment at different times of the day so you can establish a more accurate pattern. I would ask your GP about this as going to the doctor every month is not only inconvenient but expensive.
