View Full Version : Vitamins/supplements
Just wondering who is taking vitamins and which ones?
I am taking a preg multi with iodine and fish oil (Pretorious Preg & Breastfeeding), plus extra zinc.
I have been pretty tired lately so I am thinking of taking extra iron. I get aenemic really easily - even though I eat lots of meat and vegies, my body does not seem to absorb iron very well.
Thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else is taking and how they are feeling. :p

I'm taking the Blackmores pregnancy gold. I'm not pregnant yet so I can't say how it's working yet!

Im taking Elevit (when i remember :o), but im seeing my gp next week to check if i need to take any extra supplements.
My sister who is 31 weeks is also taking elevit but is taking iron and calcium as well.
If you get anaemic easily i would probably take extra iron.

I take two iron tablets, then a glass of Orange juice after to absorb the iron.I also take 3-6 fIsh oil tablets for my babies developing brain and to help my skin stretch and stay soft.If you touched my belly you'd honestly believe i had just rubbed lotion in, because the fish oil makes it so soft. :D

For 3 months before I fell and for 8 weeks into the pregnancy I took Elevit but the Obstetrician had me switch to Blackmores Pregnancy & Breastfeeding GOLD because they also contain iodine. The Elevit actually made me feel a bit sick if I took it on an empty stomach (even before I was pg) but the Blackmores are fine. I had m/s in the first trimester and was extremely tired and now at 19 weeks I feel great but I think it's more to do with pregnancy hormones than switching brands.

I was going to take Elevit, but was recommened to take the Blackmores preg & breastfeeding as it has the omega fatty acids, which Elevit doesnt, plus it's heaps cheaper.

I took folic acid for 3 months prior to conceiving. Started on Elevet 1 month prior to conception and still taking it. Also taking fish oil tablets daily. Feeling great and iron levels are spot on (i am prone to anaemia too).
